|Minimum Stay||4 - 5 nights|
Wonderful stone house (90m2) bursting with flowers and greenery in the summer months plus outside space and a roof terrace with an incredible panoramic sea and mountain view. Casa Orengiano is situated on a quiet and pretty street in the heart of the medieval village of Haut de Cagnes, the house lies on 3 levels (30m2 per floor), 4 if you include the roof terrace – it has been totally refurbished and is an ideal place in which to spend your holidays.
The front door is accessed by climbing a couple of steps from the street, which bring you into a delightful open and comfortable living-dining-kitchen area. The room is bright with windows opening to the east and south overlooking the village as it plunges to the town below and on to the sea. With all the original charming features of exposed beams, authentic floor tiles and a fireplace, as well as pieces of art lining the walls and surfaces – Casa Orengiano offers guests the perfect welcome.
The bedrooms can be found by descending a staircase – the first double bedroom with sea view is situated on the lower level along with a sunny yellow bathroom with shower, w.c and wash hand basin and a cosy corner with large sofa (and t.v). Although the house is rented to up to 4 people – there is the possibility to have one person – or a child stay on the sofa if absolutely required.
Going down one more level you arrive directly into the charming vaulted master bedroom with its new king-sized bed (180cm). This room offers access to 2 outdoor terraces along with a second bathroom with bath, shower, w.c, washing machine and dryer.
The 2 neighboring houses share an access through the back of the property – the first terrace directly outside the master bedroom has a a seating area, where you can sit in the morning and enjoy the early sun – the second terrace is more private on a lower level and offers a sea view, a gas BBQ and dining table and chairs for 6, where warm outdoor dining is possible.
The roof terrace can be reached from stairs on the kitchen level – this is a fabulous space with impressive panoramic view of the Castle, the village roof tops, mountains and sea. Make yourself comfortable with an early evening apero on a bench or sun chair surrounded by the medieval village above and below. The stairs to the roof terrace are steep so NOT suitable for small children.
The kitchen level is air conditioned, which is not that common in the village – by leaving bedroom doors open at night, you can benefit from the cool air seeping down from the upper level.
Casa Orengiano is accessible by car however it should be noted that the street is narrow so not suitable for large cars – in this case you can drop luggage off 2 minutes from house.
The free shuttle bus, which runs from the town to the village every 15 minutes, has a bus stop 3 minutes from the house. Private parking is very rare in the medieval village but free street parking and the paying village and town car parks are usually within a 2-7 minute walk away.
The house a short stroll to a good selection of restaurants and the village's main square, which is a hive of activity during the warmer months. The town below is within easy walking distance, where you can find a boulangerie, food market, boutiques, supermarket, cafes, post office, etc. The free shuttle bus from the town up to the village is also an option if you don't feel like walking. The town is well services with buses going to most places on the Cote d’Azur, plus there is a train station. The sea is a 30 minute walk and a free beach bus is provided from the town in July and August.
A very nice holiday with good friends. Fantastic winter weather. The house and facilities are very charming, and you really feel you live in the genuine French village, but with all the necessary appliances.
We had lunch and dinner in close by restaurants, nice walks in the mountain and plaid golf. It is easy to walk or take the bus to the beach and/or the train to close by towns, like Antibes, Juan le Pen or Nice.
It is a perfekt place for 4 peopel to have a nice holiday. 2 seperate bedrooms and 2 bathromms whit a nice standar. Perfekt roof terrace whit a amasing view, garden terrace whit a lot of flower. 5 min to go for serveral eatingplaces on the top Haute De Cagnes. 25 min to go to the sea. I will higly recommende the place. It is a good customer service, and the property was clean.
Me and my husband spent a wonderful week in this beautifully refurbished and furnished house close to the castle. It is easy to live in, a real home away from home. It is well equipped with all necessary utilities. The terraces and especially the roof terrace has a spectacular view. The house is close to the beaches as well to the mountaines for those who likes to hike. Simply a very suitable house and illage for visiting the Côte d' Azur.
Wonderfully restored and one of the best equipped VRBOs we have stayed in.
The location is perfect. Conveniently located in the heart of the Cote d’Azur while tucked comfortably in a medieval village.
Parking was our one concern prior to our visit but everything worked out perfectly.
Casa Orengiano, the villa with 3 terraces (although the roof top was our favourite). This was our third stay in Haut de Cagnes in the last 10 years as we totally love the ambience of the whole village and the easy access to the Cote d'Azur region of the south of France.
The location of Casa Orengiano is perfect, being within a short stroll to the many restaurants, or with its spacious interior and well appointed fixtures you can invite some fellow travellers over for some wine and takeaway pizza. They too will rave about how fantastic Casa Orengiano is, with its amazing views from 3 terraces to the gorgeous period features.
The agent's representative was a pleasure to deal with.
The property was well located, very comfortable and well equipped. The views from the house and especially from the roof terrace are just divine. The house was clean on arrival and seems to be well maintained. The owners' representative was friendly and very helpful. To be recommended.
The charming, fortified medieval village of Haut de Cagnes is the oldest district of Cagnes sur Mer – ideally situated between Nice and Antibes and only a short car journey from Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport and within walking distance to the sea.
Here you are close to a boulangerie for warm fresh bread each morning and an excellent selection of restaurants for great dining. Local food markets, shops and outdoor cafes are all nearby. The area provides a perfect hopping on point to multiple destinations and attractions with its excellent rail and bus services.
Crowned with the original Grimaldi Castle, this enchanting medieval village with charming cobbled streets and remarkable ancient buildings transports you back in time to the 13th Century. The serenity and simplicity found in these pretty French villages allows you to enjoy the sun, sea and breath-taking views in a very relaxed atmosphere. Known as the ‘Montmartre of the French Rivieria’, Haut de Cagnes was the haunt of Renoir, Modigliani, Soutine, Yves Klein, Bardot and Cocteau. It’s easy to see why many famous artists lived or found their inspiration here, falling in love with the soft Mediterranean light and honest authenticity.
But this charming, perched village has so much more to offer, with its tiers of tiny streets, climbing soft stone walls and colourful houses bursting with history. On the main street and Place du Château, there are plenty of bustling restaurants and cafés plus numerous historical cultural events and colourful festivals are held during the year.
A short stroll down the hill will bring you to the town of Cagnes, which provides all amenities such as a boulangerie, a patisserie, a supermarket, post office, the main bus square and a wonderful covered food market. Close to the town centre lies the Renoir Museum, the Hippodrome for horse racing and Cros de Cagnes – the seaside resort of Cagnes sur Mer with its private and public beaches.
There is so much you can do without a car, such as; shopping in Cannes, people watching in St Tropez, perfume sampling in Grasse, gambling in Monaco, lunching in Italy and buying art in St Paul – all easily accessible and inexpensive with most bus journeys costing only 1€50. Or if you prefer to cycle along the coastline to Nice or Antibes by bike, bike hire is rarely far away.
No 44 is a free navette, which runs up to the medieval village every 15 minutes from the town centre of Cagnes at Square Bourdet (the central bus station). It is ideal if you have luggage or shopping bags or when the weather is hot – it travels right up to the Château with a few strategic stops on the way.
