About Etta Halliday
Belfast born and bred and currently living in another small fishing village with lots of history in Co Down. I love the rugged Co Antrim coastline just as much - particularly the great first gasp of 'north coast' sea air every visit - wonderfully restorative!
Etta Halliday purchased this Cottage in 2006
Why Etta Halliday chose Bushmills
It's walking distance to the places I love most - Giant's Causeway and Dunluce Castle. I'm a 'Chronicles of Narnia' fan and if this landscape could inspire CS Lewis, it's inspirational for this writer too.
What makes this Cottage unique
It's a home from home - for me, my family and it seems our guests love it just as much. I love that our little cluster of homes is surrounded by fields and hedgerows yet walk for just a handful of minutes and you're at the restaurants and stores in the village. Perfectly peaceful and perfectly positioned.

Perfect Cottage for Northern Ireland Attractions!
I can't say enough about our hostess, Etta. She was quite quick with responses when I had questions leading up to our trip. She had fresh milk, tea, and biscuits waiting for us upon arrival. The cottage provided a wonderful respite for us while on a two week tour of Ireland and Northern Ireland. I work for a hotel company, and it was refreshing to be on vacation and NOT have to stay in a hotel!
The cottage itself is perfectly positioned for quick trips to three major attractions ~ The Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede, and the Bushmills Distillery which is walkable from the house! Additionally, there is a SPAR store, just across from the Distillery, where you can find any supplies that you may need. The cottage also provides a clothes washer and dryer which allowed us to pack light and still have ample clothing for a two week trip. Belfast was only an hour and a half away, too. This is a perfect spot to stay and take day trips to many other places.
We had an amazing time and having access to Eagry Cottage definitely enhanced our Northern Ireland experience! I would not hesitate to go back again and stay here.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review Cynthia. We're delighted you had such a good vacation and found the cottage to be such a useful base (we do too but then, we're biased!)
Welcome back anytime.
Great stay in a great location!
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Eagry Cottage. The hospitality provided to my family was superb and the cottage is well-equipped for anything you might need for a holiday. It is in the perfect location to see all of the sights around Bushmills. It was extremely nice to be within walking distance of a grocery store as well as the Bushmills distillery.
Thanks for the great review Dan and glad you enjoyed your visit to the area and to the cottage.
Cozy cottage and a great location.
Great location and nice cottage.
Thanks for the great review Petra. Glad to have you visit.
We enjoyed our stay. A great location for exploring the northern coast and Causeway. Comfortable and convenient.
The tail end of a hurricane not withstanding! Really glad you enjoyed your visit - the landscape is so rugged, the whitewater probably added to the views! Hope the journey home was less eventful and thanks for your review.
Very well equipped comfortable cottage
We stayed at Eagry Cottage for 5 nights while visiting relatives and taking part in a sponsored walk along the coast. Booking was very simple via Owners Direct. Etta could not have been more helpful and prompt in replying to our queries before arriving. The cottage was immaculate and is equipped to the highest standard. The nearby SPAR shop is so convenient. We would recommend Eagry Cottage for anyone who wants to explore the North Antrim coast.
Great reason to be visiting the area Bob and very glad to welcome you to Eagry Cottage. Thanks for the kind review and come back again some time!
Bushmills is a lovely town and the house was beautiful and very well equiped. Location was perfect

Thanks for the lovely review folks - and very glad you enjoyed some of the local restaurants too. We're sort of spoiled for choice in the area! Hope you'd a good drive home and come again.
Bushmills is just one hour from Belfast International airport, yet it's another world. We're right at the heart of the stunning Causeway Coastal Route - the essential Irish journey. With nine breathtaking Glens of Antrim to cycle, walk or drive, Eagry Cottage is less than a handful of miles from the main attractions: it's just 2 miles to the Giant's Causeway (World Heritage Site), Portballintrae beach, Dunluce Castle, Royal Portrush Golf Course, great surfing, and we're right on the doorstep of the famous Old Bushmills Whiskey Distillery - 'legally' making whiskey since 1608!
There are great restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and craft nooks just an easy, short stroll away as well as seaside towns, fishing villages, National Trust properties and tiny, peaceful harbors to visit.
Pony trekking, the Old Llammas Fair in Ballycastle (August), the North West 200 road race (motorbikes) and Bird Sanctuary on Rathlin Island are all within easy reach of the house.
Golf: Links golf is the game played on a course designed by mother nature with as many humps and bumps as you like with a view unequalled for it's beauty! At Eagry Cottage, we love to boast one of the word's top links courses almost on our doorstep. Royal Portrush - just 3 miles away and home to the 2012 Irish Open! ('Home' to Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell - GMac, Darren Clarke and Padraig Harrington - if you have to ask.... you're not a golfer!)
The Royal County Down Course is easily within driving distance too, though by the time you've tested your skills on the marvellous Portstewart and Castlerock courses as well, we think you'll have enough travellers tales to tell of the game at it's best, along one of the world's most spectacular coastlines.
All courses have specific information on their respective websites - easy enough to find on the web.
