'Eagry Cottage' offers luxury self catering accommodation just walking distance from the geological wonders of the Giant's Causeway. Located in Bushmills, the area offers excellent beaches, great fishing, pony trekking and a royal links golf course - all just a few minutes drive away, making the bustling little village the perfect base for a holiday in Northern Ireland.
Situated a few minutes walk from the center of the Bushmills, the cottage is spacious, scrupulously clean and very comfortable. The lounge seats 7 people comfortably with the cosiness of an open fire on cooler evenings while a paved patio offers a peaceful suntrap on warmer days. The excellently equipped kitchen accommodates 6 diners and a separate utility room contains a washer/dryer, sink, microwave and dishwasher.
A travel cot, high chair and stair gate are also available for our littlest guests, All year round, there's a warm Irish welcome with peace and quiet to relax in.
Belfast born and bred and currently living in another small fishing village with lots of history in Co Down. I love the rugged Co Antrim coastline just as much - particularly the great first gasp of 'north coast' sea air every visit - wonderfully restorative!
Etta Halliday purchased this cottage in 2006
It's walking distance to the places I love most - Giant's Causeway and Dunluce Castle. I'm a 'Chronicles of Narnia' fan and if this landscape could inspire CS Lewis, it's inspirational for this writer too.
It's a home from home - for me, my family and it seems our guests love it just as much. I love that our little cluster of homes is surrounded by fields and hedgerows yet walk for just a handful of minutes and you're at the restaurants and stores in the village. Perfectly peaceful and perfectly positioned.
We were two middle aged Australian couples and this was a perfect place to stay in a beautiful region of Northern Ireland. It is accurately depicted in the pictures and description provided and is a great 'home away from home' - there is everything provided that you could need for a short or long stay. Etta was very easy to deal with and responded to any question very quickly. I would highly recommend this property to friends.
Thanks for a great stay in Bushmills. The house was perfect for our family of 4. The location was great to explore Giant's causeway and surroundings. Thank you for the milk and cookies upon arrival. Nice!
A small group of women (3) stayed for three nights at Eagry cottage. It is situated in what I would describe as a quiet, safe, new residential estate with similar styled homes on each side of the street. It is indeed beside the Bushmills distillery. The home is large, clean, reasonably well maintained and offers lots of opportunity for a group of friends or family to settle in comfortably. Getting access to the home was easy and communication with Etta was very prompt. We were able to get some basic groceries the first night at 10pm at the nearby Spar store 5 mins walk. The village is only a 7 min walk and you can find a great fruiterer/florist for fresh veggies/fruits and there is a good selection of off sales for beer/wine etc. There are some really fantastic restaurants in the village that were all highlighted in the house manual Etta provides. We are a group of foodies who love good food and the quality and choice all within a few minutes walk was outstanding. Make reservations as they are often full. The wifi in the house was exceptional and we experienced no problems. Beds were comfortable and the pillows/duvets provided are clean and comfy. Bathroom with shower upstairs is a good size. We did struggle to get good water pressure but i noticed that seemed to be an issue throughout Ireland. We loved hanging out in the living room at night after our daily adventures and sitting around the kitchen table for breakfast. My family on my mothers side all live in nearby Coleraine so we chose the location to make our family visits easy. What a wonderful surprise though to see what Bushmills had to offer and how easy it was to get around to all the tourists spots. We took the small train from Bushmills to the Giants Causeway which was super easy and a scenic 15 min ride. The train is about two mins outside of town from the roundabout with good parking available. Saved us from dealing with the busy roads up to the Causeway. Make sure to check the return times for the train. Highly recommend a trip to Downhill to the castle, Mussenden temple, and the incredible beach. Castlerock was also a nostalgic stop for us as well as Portrush and Portstewart. All the locals in the village were super friendly and helpful.
Good location for exploring many attractions. Lovely spacious house, was like home from home with the book's, kids toys & kitchen cupboard essentials available. Etta was very helpful.
Very nice house with all the amenities.
We have 3 small children and the house was perfectly equipped for us. The house is close to many amazing sights and Etta was a wonderful host.
Bushmills is just one hour from Belfast International airport, yet it's another world. We're right at the heart of the stunning Causeway Coastal Route - the essential Irish journey. With nine breathtaking Glens of Antrim to cycle, walk or drive, Eagry Cottage is less than a handful of miles from the main attractions: it's just 2 miles to the Giant's Causeway (World Heritage Site), Portballintrae beach, Dunluce Castle, Royal Portrush Golf Course, great surfing, and we're right on the doorstep of the famous Old Bushmills Whiskey Distillery - 'legally' making whiskey since 1608!
There are great restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and craft nooks just an easy, short stroll away as well as seaside towns, fishing villages, National Trust properties and tiny, peaceful harbors to visit.
Pony trekking, the Old Llammas Fair in Ballycastle (August), the North West 200 road race (motorbikes) and Bird Sanctuary on Rathlin Island are all within easy reach of the house.
Golf: Links golf is the game played on a course designed by mother nature with as many humps and bumps as you like with a view unequalled for it's beauty! At Eagry Cottage, we love to boast one of the word's top links courses almost on our doorstep. Royal Portrush - just 3 miles away and home to the 2012 Irish Open! ('Home' to Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell - GMac, Darren Clarke and Padraig Harrington - if you have to ask.... you're not a golfer!)
The Royal County Down Course is easily within driving distance too, though by the time you've tested your skills on the marvellous Portstewart and Castlerock courses as well, we think you'll have enough travellers tales to tell of the game at it's best, along one of the world's most spectacular coastlines.
All courses have specific information on their respective websites - easy enough to find on the web.
