|Property type||chateau / country house|
Quinta dos Baldo aims to create a rural tourism experience in quality, with all possible comfort and well-being. Out kept the original stone, inside was created a unique environment: air conditioning, television, stove, clay floor handmade, wooden cover, everything to make your stay only sin for short.
Within the limitations that deadlines and budget dictated, the house was building up trying to be as green and sustainable as possible. To keep the house warm and cool down too much, it used to cork, a national and natural material. The floor, made of pine wood, gravel and clay, was handmade by the owner, recreating the traditional floors, in a process with low carbon emissions.
The area where the house is located is rich and diverse. The International Douro is a special area, with viewpoints chilling walls-half with emphasis nests (vultures), restaurants with the best of regional food, a natural park full of remarkable landscapes. And the Douro vineyard just outside your door. Freixo de Espada a Cinta, Moncorvo Tower, Mogadouro and Castelo Rodrigo are just some of the destinations waiting. And Martin Tirado, a village where everyone speaks the language of hospitality.
The three of us enjoyed our two day visit. The house walls are beautifu rock work, and the interior is just as described and pictured. We took a jeep tour of paleolithic rock drawings on the Coa river which was fune but a long day. Closer to the cabin, we found a small road running right along the Douro, very isolated and beautiful with the hills coming rigt down into the river. Frieda the dog is the friendliest dog we know. Some of the door keys were very stiff, but overall we had avery good visit.
Conhecer o Douro Internacional a partir desta casa é perfeito.
The International Douro is rich in fauna, flora and landscape wealth. The viewpoints over the Douro, as the Carrascalinho and Penedo Durão attract hundreds of tourists to observe the excavated valley and birds, such as vultures and eagles. They are also famous its gastronomic riches, especially the mirandesa set, served in dozens of restaurants, but also wild mushrooms. Sausages, cheeses, olive oil, wine, almonds, chestnut and cherry are sold throughout the region. They should also emphasize the two World Heritage of Humanity present, the Alto Douro Wine Region and Engravings Rupestres the Coa Valley (the museums are worth a visit). The Natural Park of the International Douro, opposite the Martin Tirado, is the major attraction, with its holm and lodoais, full of floral species such as broom, the cistus, the rosemary and heather. Martin Tirado, the village where is located the Casa de Campo, is located literally on top of the mountains. The view is overwhelming and omnipresent.
