An attractive Spanish casa, ideal for a family or group of friends of all age groups or even a couple seeking a quiet retreat yet with wifi access.A secure gated private road gives peace of mind and relaxation away from the town below, yet within easy walking distance. There is plenty of space to enjoy with a secluded sun-terrace to the rear commanding great views overlooking the mountains and a front terrace with sweeping views over the sea. Less than 10 metres away from the shared (but never crowded) swimming and paddling pools. For those who enjoy tennis the court is just 30 metres from the door-step. It's only a short walk to the shops and Las Fuentes beach (ideal blue-flag beach for young children with sand and shallow sea). Parents can chill out at the beachfront tapas bar and soak up the atmosphere of this unique location.There's also a disco in the evenings for those wanting more nightlife. There are no high-rise buildings here to block the view! Alcossebre town offers plenty of shops, restaurants, coffee and tapas bars. The unspoilt surrounding countryside offers plenty of opportunities for walking and mountain biking.The long stretches of Blue Flag beaches (5) provide uncrowded beachside relaxation as well as water sports and fishing.

Plenty of space for the whole family without feeling on top of each other. There are two shower-rooms and toilets and a large rear family room with a sofa bed as well as the front sitting room.

Montesol is in a secure gated compound with no through traffic. You have use of the communal pool and tennis-court and availability is rarely a problem.

About Sally Wiggin

My husband (Charles) and I (Sally) are now in our fifties. We have 3 children, Amy, Huw and Giles who have all enjoyed staying with us for family holidays at Monte Sol. We have found it particularly good for our family because we all enjoy having our own space as well as participating in family activities such as sitting on the front terrace in the evening enjoying a family meal followed by a game of cards,enjoying also the splendid view looking down over the town beneath with the sea and night sky beyond. Our children are now older but still come to the house with their partners and families who love the peace and tranquility of Monte Sol with its easy access to the town night life and also the numerous safe and clean beaches suitable for young and old alike.

We particularly love Alcossebre as it is relatively unspoilt and has a really friendly Spanish community. We feel we have the best of both worlds as our gated community offers security and tranquility away from the crowds and yet we love wandering into Alcossebre either in the evenings or daytime to enjoy a menu del dia at a very reasonable price (E10- E12) or some tapas at one of the many bars bordering the sea. There are also local shops and boutiques that cater for all age groups that are open to 10 pm most evenings and a street market on a Tuesday that sells local produce.

What makes this house unique

Whatever time of the year whether at the height of the season in summer or in the middle of winter, there is always peace and quiet at Monte Sol.

All the neighbours who are of different nationalities, including 7 British families are friendly and helpful. We are lucky to be part of such a community.

An added bonus is that the mountains behind the properties protect us from any bad weather and we get sunshine most of the year round yet with a refreshing breeze.

We arrived late at night but the next morning opened the bedroom window to reveal the most amazing view of the coastline . Well maintained complex and really a short walk to bars and restaurants for the young and healthy ! Thankyou for a relaxed chilled out time

Quiet and safe family/small group rental

Monte Sol was a great little find - a comfy, airy house in a gated road overlooking Alcossebre, which is about 15 minutes walk away. The pool is directly across from the house and was a great spot for our five year-old to play in, with a grassed area surrounding a toddler pool and main pool with gorgeous views. The house is cool and quiet, has wifi access and all necessary amenities for a family or small group. Nice terraced areas back and front meant that we could rift inside and out as we pleased. The owners were helpful and offered advice about day trips to Valencia, Barcelona, the waterpark and mountains. Alcossebre is a lovely Spanish resort, low key, but with great tapas bars and small boutiques for browsing, clean, safe beaches in the town and nearby. It was a welcome relief from the highly-touristed, egg-and-chips type resorts Spain often offers - a truly relaxing break. Will definitely be going back!

Perfectly relaxing

I arrived at this beautiful villa with my girlfriend in June. We wanted to be close to the sea, however, not in a typically crowded spanish resort. We were not disappointed- the house is situated above the town overlooking fantastic views of the sea and coast below, yet is within a walkable 10 minute stroll down the hill, meaning we could go out for meals, and have the choice of many beaches and tapas bars, then stroll home afterwards, enjoying the cool breeze and quiet peace above.

We are also keen walkers and spent time exploring the walks through the hills to nearby villages, using the owners maps which they kindly left for us. We also cycled to nearby beaches, as well as taking day trips to nearby Peniscola and Valencia.

The house itself also has a lovely clean pool, which was commonly left to ourselves, as well as a tennis court.

The house is easily spacious enough to cater for a family- but provided a quiet and secluded space for me and my girlfriend to relax. I couldn't it recommend enough- thank you so much.

Return to a little gem

We've stayed at Monte Sol twice before and loved it, and this time was no different. The house is cool and airy, with lovely outdoor areas, and the private road ensures that it's safe for our five year-old to play out front safely. The pool across the road is divine, and the town - about ten mins' walk down the hill - has a cracking little beach and heaps of great tapas restaurants and bars to choose from. It's a delightful Spanish-feeling resort, rather than teeming with swarms of loud tourists looking for egg and chips! Our daughter loves the beaches in the area and the house is a great base for day trips to beautiful Barcelona (2 hrs' drive) and glorious Valencia (1 hour). A really pleasant house in a super location.

A temperate and balanced climate means the property can be enjoyed throughout the year. Alcossebre and Las Fuentes are uncommercialised resorts yet full of local character with plenty of amenities. The area is popular with Spanish, German, French and English holiday makers

The nearby resort of Peniscola boasts a fortress renowned throughout Spain as the home of El Cid and Papa Luna and there are many concerts performed in the fortress. Nearby Benicassim hosts an annual music festival.The surrounding unspoilt inland countryside offers plenty of scope for discovery with numerous fortresses on the hillsides. For those who wish to relax and soak up the sun the five Blue Flag beaches are a couple of minutes away by car and stretch some five miles along the coast. The superb nature reserve of Delta de L'Ebre offers some wonderful drives whilst local activities include water sports, fishing, walking and cycling and there are two international golf courses within easy access.

Fly to Valencia, Barcelona or Reus w/ cheap flights from Easy Jet, British Airways & Ryan Air. Reasonable car hire available from Valencia & Reus airports. 1 hr by car from Valencia or Reus or 2 hrs from Barcelona to the house. Reasonable car transfers by our local agent from Benicarlo main railway station (E30 return), Castellon (E40 return) both accessible on the train from Valencia or Barcelona airports.

There are numerous tapas bars,ice cream/ coffee bars, restaurants and 2 discos. The beaches are well supported with surveillance, First Aid and facilities for the disabled. There is also trampoline and facilities for younger children on the beaches particularly at Las Fuentes as well as a beach bar for parents to relax in and know that the children are safe.
