Luxury air conditioned 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with panoramic sea view

The apartment is on the first floor of the distinctive Vague Bleue building on the Nice Promenade des Anglais with its own balcony offering a stunning panoramic sea view of the famous Baie des Anges.

Across the road is the Bambou Plage Beach Bar and Restaurant where you can lunch or shower after a quick swim in the sea or hire a deckchair for an afternoon nap. It also has a children’s play area.

Nothing symbolises Nice more than the Promenade des Anglais. This 3km-line of south-facing apartments runs along the wide public beach from the Radisson Blu hotel all the way to the Negresco hotel. Just north of here is the Carré d’Or, the city’s ritziest residential zone, and Place Massena, the geographical heart of the city.

Although within walking distance to the Place Masséna and the Old Town, there are buses along the Promenade or Avenue de la Californie to get you there in minutes, or a nearby taxi rank if you prefer. The local area also has a number of restaurants, bakeries, patisseries and supermarkets.

Whilst the airport is only a short taxi ride away, the 98 airport bus stops almost outside the apartment, as does the 12 bus to the main Nice railway station with fast access by TGV to Provence, Paris or Italy. Other buses will take you to Cannes, Antibes, Cap Ferrat or Monaco along the coast, or up to St Paul, Vence or Grasse in the hills. There is no need for a car as the Nice transport system is one of the best and cheapest in Europe.

A stone’s throw away are two of Nice’s most interesting art museums, the Musée Des Beaux Art, with its large collection of Dufy and Bonnard paintings and the Musée de L’art Naif with its unique collection of works by painters such as Rousseau and Grandma Moses.

Renovated three years ago, the apartment is fully air conditioned with double glazing and electric shutters ensuring a peaceful night's sleep.

There are two large bedrooms, one with a king size double and the other with twin beds. Each room has a large double wardrobe with drawers and a large built-in cupboard with shelves. Bedroom 1 is ensuite.

There are two good sized bathrooms, both tiled in Italian travertine and both with a Hansgrohe shower cubicle, heated towel rail, back-lit wall mirror, magnifying shaving mirror, hair-dryer, basin and toilet. Additionally the second bathroom has a bath with hand shower.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a dish-washer, washing machine, oven, hob and microwave.

The apartment has Wi-Fi to all rooms, a Sony HD television with Blu Ray player and surround sound Hi-Fi and a wide choice of satellite TV to include French, German, Italian and British channels.

Additionally, guests have special access via a private corridor to the Palais Doria building behind, where there is an excellent patisserie and coffee shop on the Avenue de la Californie.

The Palais Doria is a fine existing example of Belle Epoque architecture, and next door to the apartment at 139 Promenade des Anglais you will find an example of pure Art Nouveau fantasy by architect Charles Marius Allinge, one of Nice’s most famous buildings, the Villa Collin-Huovila.

Whilst Cannes may steal the limelight with its glitz, few places can compare with Nice for atmosphere. The Old Town is endlessly fascinating with its warren of small streets, some taking you back a hundred years whilst others offer a spoilt-for-choice array of gourmet restaurants and specialist food shops.

The streets of Nice are in themselves a museum or gallery, and on display is some of the best French architecture of the last three centuries.

About Paul Miller

I am a photographer and video editor who has retired from running a TV post-production company in central London.

I have now invested in two apartments in central Nice to enable me to enjoy the wonderful climate, food and scenery that the Côte D'Azur offers.

Why Paul Miller chose Les Baumettes

Nice has a microclimate with more sunshine during the winter months than any other place I know close to the UK. It is also very easy to get to, especially with the proximity of Nice airport to the centre of the city. There are many excellent restaurants to choose from, great shopping and a wide array of amenities and magical places to visit.

The Promenade Des Anglais is unique and legendary. it's the centre of Nice life. To Nice residents it is is 'La Prom' stretching for almost 7 kilometres and lit up at night it is known as 'the Queen's necklace' glittering and sparkling all along the coastline.

What makes this apartment unique

I love looking at the sea from my apartment, it is always changing. Most days it is a deep iridescent blue fringed with white surf, other days if the wind is up or after a storm, it is a dark swirling grey and looking angry. But never boring.

In early morning a fishing boat can often be seen checking its nets after a night's fishing before taking its catch to the market in the Cours Saleya. In the distance you can sometimes see a large cruise ship making its way to the deep harbour in Villefranche, or the ferry on its way to Corsica.

There is always an endless parade of joggers of all ages, some fast, some slow, dressed in an array of multi-coloured clothing, rollerbladers, cyclists or just 'promenaders' taking a daily constitutional. There is no need to go to the cinema or watch the TV when the continuous parade outside the window provides such never-ending free entertainment.

The fundamental reasons why Nice and its surrounding area attracted so many artists throughout the centuries, the light, the colours, the air, still remain to be discovered and appreciated by all.

I stayed here from the end of November to just before Xmas while studying for 4 weeks at the Institut de Français in Villefranche. While this wasn't exactly a vacation for me, it definitely felt like one when I returned home from class each day. This is a beautiful apartment and I will miss my time here.

  • Both bathrooms should satisfy even the most discerning holidaymaker. The main bathroom is beautifully appointed with Italian travertine stone tiling and high quality modern fixtures. There is a bath, a glass and chrome Hansgrohe shower cubicle, a large basin with mirror, heated towel rail, vanity unit and toilet. The ensuite shower room has been styled and appointed to the same high standard. There is a walk in Hansgrohe shower, a basin with mirror over, heated towel rail and toilet.

The second bedroom is air-conditioned, has two single beds, bedside tables and lamps and a large two door mirrored wardrobe. Again there are French doors that lead out onto the rear balcony.

Notes:
The lounge area is at the front of the apartment and looks out over the Promenade des Anglais with great sea views. There are two white leather sofas and matching arm chair, a large white coffee table and matching console unit which houses an impressive TV and home cinema set up. Guests can dine on the large breakfast bar at the end of the open plan kitchen. The kitchen is open plan to the living area and has been designed with a simple classical style. It has been well equipped with a large integrated fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. There is an electric induction hob, oven, extractor and microwave.

Extremely comfortable apartment with a great view of the Baie des Anges and the Promenade des Anglai

Tha apartment has everything you need for an enjoyable stay in Nice. It is walking distance from Place Masséna (a good stretch of the legs) if you enjoy a stroll along the Promenade but is also served with excellent transport links into the centre of Nice, or to neighbouring towns such as Antibes, Cannes, Grasse, St Paul de Vence or Monaco and Eze in the other direction. There is excellent air conditioning, double glazing, electric shutters, fast Wi-Fi, satellite TV, Blu Ray DVD and a great Hi-Fi system. There are two beautiful bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen. I can thoroughly recommend this apartment as an extremely comfortable base from which to explore this beautiful corner of Europe.

Beautiful Apartment and View.

This is a truly beautiful apartment, clean and modern with a well-appointed kitchen. Bedrooms are comfortable and quiet. Location is directly across the street from the ocean and the view from the apartment, as you can see in the photo, is stunning. Paul, the owner is responsive and helpful. Elena, who met us at the apartment, was very friendly. We really enjoyed staying here.

Fabulous

We loved Nice.... the apartment is fabulous and perfectly situated on the Promenade, 25 mins stroll along the sea front to old Nice.... It was perfectly quiet in the evenings, so we always had a good night's sleep... It is lovely and clean and a good size for 4 people.. Elena, who greeted us, was fab... She also gave us some fantastic travel tips... Would definitely recommend for a Nice break... looking forward to returning at some point...

Nice is a pastel world!! Gorgeous.

We really liked having an apartment by the water. It was not as new and "shiny" as the photos on line but still loved it. Was about 15/20min walk to main area on the promenade. Gorgeous view , great walk. Would not want to be any further out. We actually loved the restaurant right behind us called Auberge, as well as the bakery and little grocer. That warm fresh bread in the morning was SO good. We loved having the room to spread out and unpack. We would definitely recommend this place .

I am waiting for the end of the season in November when the apartment is due to be refurbished as I am aware that various items need updating in order to maintain standards. I hope very much to welcome you back in the near future and you will see that the 'shine' has been restored. We are also hoping for a complete transformation of this part of the Promenade once the new tram line to the airport is finished and the traffic is reduced.

Amazing Views

This was my first trip to Nice. I travelled with my husband and son who both had visited the city before. The apartment was wonderful. I was amazed at how close we were to the sea and how wonderful the apartment was. The apartment was clean, comfortable, amazingly quiet, and very convenient. The best part was walking across the street and being on the beach and having a wonderful bakery behind the building. Just remember to take with you beach shoes as it is a pebble beach and not a sand beach. We are going back hopefully soon.

Great apartment, awesome location!! Would love to return.

We had a great time in Nice and part of that was the apartment. It was a lot better than what we expected. Clean , lots of space for our family of 4 . Location is unbeatable.

Manu was awesome , gave as lots of info , very attentive and easy to reach .
