Cosy cabin for our September retreat

  • 5 of 5

My partner, our two dogs and I throughly enjoyed our stay at Strae, in the lovely Loch Aweside Park.

Strae was a perfect base for trips to Oban, hiking and short ambles down to the lochside.

It is small inside and was perfect for two adults. The decor was cosy and homely and the cabin was clean.

I would definitely stay again.

Beautiful surroundings

  • 5 of 5

The property was lovely and quaint amidst forest. The wildlife from the cain was beautiful and the walk to the loch was roughly around 2 minutes which was great. The cabin was clean on arrival and very well equipped.

Perfect Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was exactly what I was looking for - a secluded, quiet, very well-equipped place to chill out, but close enough to the Loch, great walks, etc that there's plenty to do.

If you take plenty of bird food (or buy from the local shop) even doing the washing up is interesting due to the sheer number and variety of birds that visit, not to mention the squirrels.

The whole booking/key collection etc process couldn't have been better too, everyone was very helpful.

Would highly recommend it if you're looking for somewhere to completely unwind - although kids would probably love it too!

Perfect little get-away cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin we stayed in (Brae) was warm and cosy. There is a double room and a small room with 3 bunks, so a family can be easily accommodated. The balcony was perfect for our dog; raised high so he could venture out, but couldn't run away. The kitchen was more than sufficient, comprising a cooker, microwave and full size fridge as well as a kettle and toaster. There is an outside barbecue too (weather permitting). We brought a long our slow cooker as we intended to walk a lot and wouldn't return to cabin until evening. It was delightful returning back to a warm, cosy cabin with lovely cooked food ready - bliss :) The bathroom, though small, provided instant hot water by an electric shower. The cabin was clean on arrival with fresh linen on the bed. We didn't meet the manager in person, but information was plentiful with other visitors' feedback, leaflets and folders of suggested outings. If a complete get-away holiday is on your wishlist, this is the place for you. The cabins are surrounded by forest providing good walks and access to the loch. The loch is beautiful and clean and very tempting to swim in, in warm weather (though we didn't venture!). Oban is approximately 1 hour's drive away - there are restaurants and cafes on the way though if you feel like eating out. There are also farmhouses selling fresh eggs to buy. At Oban there is a ferry across to the islands, shops (delicious ice-cream and fish and chips), cafes, and restaurants. The locals are really friendly and took to our little Sox. The site itself offers a small shop to purchase basic items. We bought bird food there too and were delighted at the amount of birds that visited our veranda to eat. We also had regular visits from two red squirrels and a pine marten (named Fingers), who enjoyed jam on bread. Our dog, Sox, was in heaven. He thoroughly enjoyed the walks and was exhausted every night. In summary, a thoroughly enjoyable holiday providing peace and quiet with stunning forest walks.

Lovely Loch View Cabin, beautiful setting and so relaxing

Well worth the journey!!

The scenery arounf the Loch was spectacular and you may get the opportunioty to see one of the ospreys which is nesting close by

Lots of room in the cabin, three spacious bedrooms, a kitchen and a loch view living room, what a way to wake up in the morning looking out to the loch!!!!

Locals we met all very friendly and we enjoyed some good food in Oban which is just a few miles away.

Would highly recommend a stay here the staff did everything to make our stay very welcoming
