Set in a wonderful area. Peaceful and private. Walking distance from village
Modern Design house set on a 2,500 meter plot, on a hillside, with magnificant views of the sea (5 kilometers distance) to the north and the White Mountains to the south. As well as of the surrounding countryside. The house has 4 bedrooms, 2 of which are en suite. Plus 2 more separate bathroom/showers with wcs for the other 2 bedrooms that are not en suite. Of the 4 bedrooms 2 have double beds and the others 2 single beds each.
The house has all mod cons including air conditioning, washing machine, wi-fi and tv. There is a fully equiped kitchen and two comfortable, separate inside lounge spaces. 4 verandas at various levels with breathtaking views.
The swimming pool has 45 sq. meters surface and the surrounding pool area is very large. Again with excellent views, especially of the sea, as you swim.
The house is in a setting of carob and cypress trees, on a hillside in a magnificent, tranquil and peaceful, Mediterranean physical ambience. Sun sets are impressive.
The Village of Vamos is a 15 minute walk. This is a large, interesting historical village which is full of life in the summer. Excellent value food is available in its several tavernas. The culinary traditions are of very high standard here. The village square has coffee shops and bars and there is a supermarket and a greengrocer with fresh fruit and vegetables. As well as a top class butcher.
In July there is a Jazz Festival in the village.
The beaches of Almyrida and Kalyves are 10 minute drives from the house. The beaches of Georgioupolis 20 minutes drive. The drive to the old venetian city of Chania from Vamos is 25 minutes. To Rethymno, the same. The villa is perfectly situated for day trips to all over the island of Crete.

About Giorgos Hadjikakou
After a varied working life in business and finance I spend my time living between Crete and Cyprus, where my main home is. I went to school and studied in England.
Giorgos Hadjikakou purchased this Villa in 2010
Why Giorgos Hadjikakou chose Vamos
I built this house myself (I am a property developer) for me and my family. I fell in love with the area and the atmosphere of the specific location. I bought the land in 2004 and completed the house in 2010. This is the first full season I am renting the house.
What makes this Villa unique
The views from everywhere in the house and plot. There is no reason to hang paintings inside. The ambience of the surrounding area.

I think that this review captures the main features of the villa. Truly stunning views, excellent accommodation and a curteous owner.
The Apokoronas Area of Chania is a peninsula with a very large coastline and many excellent beaches to the north with the White Mountains to the south. Sea and Mountain, neither too far away. Swimming and trecking. The area is full of olive groves and cypress, carob and oak trees, are very prevalent.
The area has many traditional villages, one of the largest being Vamos, each with its own character and traditions in music and food. Crete is a culinery adventure where the tavernas serve excellent excellent food at incredibly low prices.
Historically the influences of the Venetian and Turkish period have been significant and many architectural and other features from these are present.
There are monasteries and many interesting orthodox churches.
The old Venetian town of Chania is only half an hour's drive from Vamos with its stone houses, winding streets, restaurants, cafes, the harbour and marina, boutique pensions and museums. Memorable.
Vamos is perfectly situated not far from the main highway and all other attractions of Crete are available for day excursions.
