Perched on historic Cold Mountain at an elevation of 3500 feet, this luxury mountain home features 2 bedroom suites each with queen size bed and full private bath. The fully equipped gourmet kitchen features custom hickory cabinets, granite countertops, and Jenn-Air stainless steel appliances. Complimenting the open floor plan are rustic heart pine floors throughout. For cool nights, gather around the wood pellet stove for the warmth and ambiance of a roaring wood fire with the push of a button.
Perhaps your favorite space will be the huge deck with spectacular unspoiled mountain views and complete privacy. Relax on the deck and listen to the rush of the nearby stream flowing down the mountain, or gazing at the stars in the night sky.
Guests will be able to enjoy hiking and exploring the private gravel roads and trails that climb up to over 4000' on Cold Mountain right from the driveway.
Cold Mountain Cabin is perfectly situated just 15 minutes from the quaint town of Waynesville with it's art galleries, shops, boutiques, coffee shops, and gourmet dining opportunities. Maggie Valley's tourist attractions and Cataloochee Ski Area are just 20 minutes away. Take a 45 minute drive to the Biltmore House, Grove Park Inn, or spend a day exploring Asheville. Best of all, Cold Mountain Cabin is only 15 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and convenient to the Shining Rock Wilderness Area, Pisgah National Forest, Sliding Rock, Looking Glass Falls, and the Cradle of Forestry. You will have the best hiking, mountain biking, scenic drives, waterfalls, horseback riding, and nature exploration the Smokey Mountains have to offer in your back yard.
You will not find a more serene mountain retreat to relax and renew your spirit than Cold Mountain Cabin!
We have enjoyed family vacations to Cold Mountain since 1987 when my Grandmother built the cabin. In 2006, we completed an extensive renovation and decided to offer the property to vacationers. It brings us great joy to see our guests enjoy the cabin and create lifelong memories with their friends and families as well.
Nathan & Jennifer Miller purchased this cabin in 2006
We have been visiting the Waynesville area for many years, and is a special place indeed. We love the balance between the rustic charm of Waynesville, the eclectic urban sophistication in Asheville, and the breathtaking beauty of the mountains, and the limitless outdoor activities. The cabin is ideally situated to reach all of our favorite places easily, and we love the setting on Cold Mountain that offers us complete privacy and serenity.
We could write a book about all there is to enjoy in the area. At the top of the list is a day in Asheville visiting the Biltmore house or Arboretum and checking out the eclectic shops and restaurants downtown. The town of Waynesville offers dozens of bookstores, coffee shops, art galleries, and fantastic dining opportunities. When it's time for the great outdoors, we head up to the Blue Ridge Parkway to our favorite hiking spots: Devil's Courthouse, Black Balsam Knob, or Graveyard Fields waterfall. During the warmer months, we enjoy horseback riding at Cataloochee Ranch, and of course skiing in the winter. Perhaps our favorite pastime is having a campfire on the deck after dinner and gazing up at the stars.
My husband and I had a great stay here. Lovely location and a fantastic view. Spent our days hiking off the Blue Ridge Pkwy and shopping in Waynesville. The cabin was well maintained and equipped with everything we needed. You can't see or hear anyone around so it's very peaceful. Hopefully, we will get a chance to go back sometime.
Our week in your little piece of heaven was wonderful! Cabin was perfect for our needs. Very clean and well maintained. We hiked every day. We sat on the deck every night and enjoyed the cool evenings and the quiet. We hated to leave! Thank you for sharing your home away from home to those who need the peace and quiet.
We had a great stay with no problem getting up and down the 1/3 mile mountain road to the house with our Toyota RAV4. The appliances and facilities are modern, new and work well. I love the taste and mineral smell of the mountain well water; reminds me of growing up on a farm, and it was sweet to taste. We ate our meals each evening and morning on the deck, and experienced a peace which is never available in noisy restaurants - and a little hummingbird family came to the feeder occasionally throughout the day - about 6 feet from us while we read at the covered table on the deck. The grill is new and worked very well when we had steak dinners. Even though no pets are allowed, I am pretty sure someone has had a cat here, because I had a constant allergic reaction to cat dander which was most prevalent on the dining room table (touching the table mat and then my eye is all that it takes if dander is present). The stand-up washer/drier was useful to wash our bed linens in order to make them fresh and as free as possible from allergens (thank you). Other than that, the house was clean and very comfortable had most of what we needed, and we are very thankful. The temps were in the upper 50's in the morning and did not rise above the low 80's during the day. Oh, and you can see the Milky Way out here, too. The house is strategically located in a valley with easy and fast access to the Blue Ridge Parkway either by going left down route 215 or by going right and up route 276; either way you go, you can make a full circuit back to the house while seeing pretty overlooks and waterfalls and wild flora and fauna along the way. We actually ate some wild spearmint growing along the Parkway - it was exhilarating! I recommend the property.
I can't say enough good things about Cold Mountain Cabin. We have stayed in many cabins in the past but this one was special. We really enjoyed the amenities the cabin had to offer and the location is wonderful. Our first day there, we took a day trip to the Virginia Creeper Trail. A shuttle service took us from Demascus to Whitetop with our bicycles. It's a scenic 17 mile downhill ride even children would enjoy. The cabin is close to Waynesville with its many shops, galleries and micro-breweries but is also close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We spent the week hiking, biking and enjoying the peace and quiet we so much desired. The humming birds kept us entertained throughout our stay. Thank you Nathan and Jennifer for sharing your beautiful mountain home with us. We will definitely be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our short getaway to Cold Mountain Cabin, and hope we are able to return soon. It's location is convenient to the town of Waynesville (about a 15-20 minute drive), where we enjoyed strolling the shops downtown. We also were able to take a half-day trip to raft the Nantahala River, and spend another day visiting several area waterfalls, as well as Sliding Rock. Taking a dip into 49 degree water isn't as bad as you might think! As I said, this was a short getaway, and there are so many more things to do and places to visit in the area, I wish we could have stayed a week. But getting back to the cabin, it is very well maintained and seems almost new, and is equipped with modern appliances. The large deck is the perfect spot to relax at the end of your daily adventures.
We stayed four nights. It was very easy to book. Price for value more than reasonable. The directions were great. I'm glad I drove the Jeep and not the sports car. I'm also glad I first arrived during daylight. The last road is a very steep rough gravel road. Very remote. Quiet other than forest sounds. The cabin was very clean and well stocked. Two roomy bedrooms with large closets and a dresser. A loft holds two mattresses perfect for children. Three piece bathroom through each bedroom. Huge porch with many seating areas. No cobwebs. No dust. Modern kitchen with all basic supplies and appliances. One downside was that a bedroom had an outside glass door without cover. All of the other windows and doors in cabin had nice, easy to use window coverings. Having a large clear glass door without cover in my bedroom was disconcerting. Other than that the cabin had so many nice touches. There was some firewood and fire starter sticks. There were working flashlights. There were games and books. Laundry detergent, and dish detergent...there were just two of us so all of the supplies lasted for our entire stay. Everything you need there except food ice and maybe drinking water.
