Description

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cottage in Cawsand - Rose Cottage

Secluded 3 bedroomed cottage with sea view and close to local beach

Rose Cottage

Set on a secluded rural quiet hillside just outside Cawsand, Rose Cottage provides an excellent base to explore the natural beauty of the Rame Peninsula and surrounding areas. It is positioned at the head of a valley with lovely sea views to Plymouth Sound. The villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, with their sheltered beaches are only a 10 minute walk away.

The area is very good for sailing, windsurfing, swimming, fishing, coastal walking, birdwatching and photography. The area is sometimes referred to as “Cornwall’s forgotten corner” and is steeped in history with many forts along the peninsula.

There are country parks including Mount Edgecombe Park and gardens nearby, whilst further along the coast are Downderry, Seaton, Portwrinkle and Looe.

The superb beaches at Whitsand Bay are a 15-20 minute walk away. Local shops and pubs are 1/2 mile away. There is a passenger ferry from the beach at Cawsand into the centre of Plymouth in summer and from nearby Cremyll all year round.

Rose Cottage is reached up a short pathway and a total of 15 steps to entrance from the car parking area. The ground floor consists of a large farmhouse kitchen/dining room with tiled floor with electric cooker, microwave, and fridge freezer. There is a good sized living room with comfortable sofas and chairs for six, Satellite TV with Freeview and separate DVD and CD players. There are double doors from the living room to the patio. The utility rooms have a washing machine, an iron/ironing board and highchair.

First floor: 3 bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x twin with sloping dormer ceiling, 1 x bunk beds all with views across the valley. A travel cot is available. The small upstairs family bathroom has a shower over the bath and a washbasin/toilet. A stairgate is fitted at the top of the stairs.

Oil central heating, electricity and bed linen are included but not towels.

Outdoor areas: There are enclosed lawned gardens on two levels. The patio has an outdoor dining table with six chairs. There is parking for three cars. No smoking or pets. Disabled access is not possible.

About Bryn Vaile

My wife grew up in nearby Torpoint and spent many summers on the beaches in and around Cawsand, Rame and Whitsand Bay. We brought up our two young children at the cottage and loved the tranquility of the location throughout the year. It was great to finish work and be down at the beach within 10 minutes. In 1998 we extended and modernised the cottage, while wishing to retain its simple charm.

Bryn Vaile purchased this cottage in 1991

Why Bryn Vaile chose South East Cornwall

For us it has always been a place to relax, chill out and unwind. You can do as much or little as you wish. It can be a great touring centre or a place to enjoy the many local activities. The cottage is simply furnished and has all you need for a relaxed holiday.

There are many activities nearby for both dry and wet weather, this information is in a folder at the cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is well placed with lovely views across the valley and of Plymouth Sound, from which you can see the deer and wildlife, as well as buzzards flying above.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We just wanted to send a quick email to say what a lovely holiday we had,

staying at Rose Cottage. The Rame Peninsula is indeed a lovely part of the

world, and Rose Cottage was a great base: we found it a comfortable and

relaxing place to stay.

Beautiful setting, value for money

  • 4 of 5

Really beautiful setting with views of the valley and sea in the distance. Blissful to be able to sit in the garden watching deer, buzzards and butterflies. Cottage is basic but has everything you need. 10/15 minute walk to the beaches at Cawsand & Kingsand. Would recommend Cross Keys for meals out! Clear, turquoise sea and surprisingly quiet for Summer holidays. Perfect if you've got kids.

Fantastic family holiday location

  • 5 of 5

Just spent a great 2 weeks here. Gorgeous garden, photos don't do it justice. Lovely short walk through fields to pretty cawsand with its rock pools, pasties, ice cream and pubs. Ferry to Plymouth for city life and fishing trips (cheaper in looe we discovered ) C awsand rubbish for crabbing though but we had great luck in looe after a day at Eden project.

Whitsands bay to die for and well worth the climb.

House itself basic but clean and comfortable and has everything you could need. Great value

Lovely peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage in a great location. Really quiet and peaceful but only 10 minutes walk to the village and beach. Had a lovely weekend with my partner and the rest of the week with my children and it was a great location for both. The property was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The local pubs are great for food and there are some fantastic walks around. All in all a lovely place to stay.
