Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Broughton-in-Furness

Sleeps 4 in Village Setting. 2 Bedroom 1 Family Bathroom 1 Cloak Room

8 Copper Rigg is a well-equipped and comfortable terraced cottage close to the historic centre of Broughton-in-Furness in the south-west Lake District. Enjoy the convenience of award-winning pubs and excellent local shops on your doorstep as well as a scenic walk to nearby fishing ponds and woodland. Broughton is a superb base from which to explore the western Lake District with its tranquil lakes, stunning mountain scenery and beautiful coastline. The central Lake District (Windermere and Ambleside) are within an hour's drive while Coniston is less than half an hour away.

There is a wide range of tourist attractions, historical sites and leisure activities to fill your holiday with. Ride on a steam train from Haverthwaite to the Lakes Aquarium, visit Muncaster Castle with its owns sanctuary, enjoy the spectacle of tigers, lions and rhinos at Dalton's South West Lakes Animal Park or take a boat ride on Coniston Water. Pre-historic stone circles, historic house and ancient castles abound. Choose from mountain biking in Grizedale Forest, canoeing on the Duddon River, horse-riding on Silecroft beach or simply make the most of glorious vistas of open sea, shimmering lakes and lofty mountains...

The cottage has a well-equipped kitchen with a fridge, gas hob, electric oven and washing machine. The open-plan living area is furnished with a dining table, sofa and easy chair. TV with DVD player and Wi-Fi. There is a box of toys and a high chair and travel cot can be provided on request. There is also a cloakroom with WC on the ground floor. Upstairs, a large master bedroom with a double bed and a bedroom with two single beds can accommodate up to 4 guests. However, for added flexibility in sleeping arrangements, the sofa downstairs converts into a double bed. The bathroom has a WC and bath with shower head. Gas central heating throughout.

Outside is a small fenced patio area with garden furniture and BBQ. Off-road private parking for one car.

8 Copper Rigg is a minute's walk from the centre of the village with its picturesque buildings and friendly family shops. There is a children's playground nearby.

Comfy, cute, everything you need.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful place to stay and the neighbors were most helpful. The butcher has great meat and the pubs are wonderful. There is great hiking in the area and amazing scenery all around.

The flat had everything we needed and was clean and cozy and quiet. We could not have asked for more.

Very clean, peaceful and family friendly cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at 8 copper rigg over New year and we had a fantastic time. Amanda was very friendly and helpful by keeping us up to date with the flooding and made sure we had the relevant information before arrival.

The cottage had everything we needed and more - it was like home from home. There was plenty of local information and leaflets for days out. Unfortunately we didn't manage to try the local bakery but managed to have amazing fish and chips from the local pub. My 3 year old daughter enjoyed playing with the toys and the local park. The local people were very welcoming and friendly and my daughter enjoyed saying 'morning' to everyone that past.

We would definitely return and recommend this cottage, it was great value for money. Thank you for a lovely peaceful stay.

Very homely and welcoming

  • 4 of 5

The property was very well equipped and very comfortable. It was very clean, but there was not enough places to eat out in the village. This was not a problem for us as we like to go further afield. It is in an ideal location for visiting coniston and ambleside. Would definitely be returning!!

Just the job . . .

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was ideal for our recent short break. The property was clean and tidy with all the facilities, equipment etc you would need. The location is ideal for getting to many of the Lakes attractions, particularly along the coast; as well as having the bakery and pubs just around the corner. We also especially enjoyed the combined Lakeside Railway and Windermere cruise trip.

Tolles, sehr gepflegtes Ferienhaus in ruhiger und dennoch zentraler Lage.

  • 5 of 5

Das Haus ist zentral im Ort gelegen.

Alle Geschäfte und Pubs sind fußläufig erreichbar. Das Haus ist super ausgestattet und sehr sauber.

Es ist eine absolute Empfehlung.

Broughton-in-Furness is handily situated to explore the less frequented parts of the Lake District. Coniston Water and Coniston Old Man are but a half hour's drive away with museums and historic houses aplenty. Low level walks can be enjoyed such as around Tarn Hows or one in Broughton itself along a disused railway track. Cycling is also popular with a full set of mountain bike trails in nearby Grizedale Forest. The coast is close by with miles of beaches and dunes to explore, together with owl and wildlife sanctuaries.

In the summer, many villages put on local shows (Broughton's one is at the end of August). Here you will get to see Cumberland wrestling, fell racing, stick making, sheep shearing and many other rural activities and skills.
