Property type house

About the property

3 Bedroom, 3 Bathroom Plantation Style Property In Scenic Location Near To Sea

The Manager's House is a traditional style home dating from the 1800s and is where the manager of the plantation would once have lived. Today Bromefield is a race-horse and polo pony stud with paddocks for the mares and foals as well as the other farmyard animals. The property consists of three air-conditioned bedrooms. The master bedroom has a 6' 6' bed with fitted wardrobes and traditional furnishings. The ensuite bathroom has a shower, double vanity, bidet and dressing table. This comfortable room is bright and breezy and looks out over cane fields and horse paddocks. The second bedroom has two twin beds and the third bedroom has a 5' double bed. Both are air conditioned and share the family bathroom which has a bath with shower, WC and double vanity. Both bedrooms have views across the sugar cane and horse paddocks. Downstairs the Manager's House is entered through the door with a porch to one side of the house. The fully fitted laundry room is to the right with the downstairs shower room straight ahead and the fully fitted kitchen to the left. The kitchen leads on to the verandah with the outdoor dining immediately ahead. From the kitchen, the interior dining is on the left and the living room just beyond the dining. The living room has a flat screen TV with satellite and there is also internet provided throughout. The wrap around verandah on three sides provides outdoor living and dining as well as some sun loungers for total relaxation. The communal pool is but a stone's throw from the front door and there are walks in the cane fields which abut the property. This is an ideal property for those who love country living in a quiet peaceful location. The Yam House is also available for rental in Bromefield Plantation for families and friends wishing to holiday together. See Property # 1592554. From the aerial photo, The Yam House has the blue roof.

Amazing peaceful country setting. 10 out of 10

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Managers house in the latter part of January, 2018. We absolutely loved the plantation! If you enjoy your privacy and a peaceful serene country setting this is it.

The house was well appointed, clean and had everything we needed. We purchased our groceries from Massey near Holetown which was a peaceful 15 minute drive along the east shoreline. The beaches were along this corridor as well and easily within a 5-10 minute drive from the house. The plantation cares for many different animals including beautiful thoroughbred horses, cows, goats and ducks to name a few. The farm staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed having friendly Winston and Bailey (part Great Danes) near our house keeping a watchful eye for us. We were almost reluctant to share a positive review of the plantation as we wanted to keep it our secret. Highly recommended and would not hesitate to return.

Beyond all expectations....Paradise in Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay at Bromefield and once again it exceeded our expectations which was a 10/10 after our first stay. From the moment you arrive you are treated as VIP's throughout your stay. The property is wonderful and such a beautiful contrast to the typical beach vacation in Barbados. Each day started with peaceful walks around the property grounds where we savoured the serenity and the thrill of watching the monkeys and other beautiful resident animals at Bromefield. The accommodation is a 5 star and, while you need a car, you are close to beautiful beaches, shops and many restaurants. We couldn't ask for anything more apart from being able to stay longer. We feel very privileged to have stayed at Bromefield and more importantly to develop our friendship with the owners.

(It is the kind of property you do not want to review for fear that you may never get availability again!).

Beautiful character house in a pleasant setting

  • 5 of 5

This house suited our family holidays just perfectly. It is very beautiful, inside and out, just as on the pictures, and has a unique feature of a wrap-around veranda, which provided so much needed shade for kids to play and adults to relax at any time of day and night.

All three bedrooms are spacious and air conditioning in each helped everyone to have a good rest after busy days.

Living and dining rooms are of a great size and have doors opening to veranda to let the pleasant breeze into the house.

The kitchen is very well equipped and stocked with all sorts of utensils and tableware - cooking and dining in was as easy as at home. There is a choice of supermarkets, closest being Jordan's in Speightstown just 10 mins away, and a larger Massy in Holetown is 20 mins drive. Massy stocks many UK products, and many from Waitrose brand range, but of course a lot more expensive due to transport costs. We found that Jordan's being closer actually fulfilled most of our needs, and we only did a couple of trips to Massy.

Shared pool is large and deep - 5 feet on both ends and 6 feet in the middle - it is really great for adults swims, but kids may need floating aid to use it - some is provided, but I would suggest bringing your own.

The setting on the Bromefield plantation is a paradise for children and animal lovers: we stopped counting how many different species of both domestic and wild animals we saw. Of course, there are gracious horses bred there for racing and polo taking the majority of the fields, but there were also cows, pigs, dogs, chickens, guinea fouls, ducks and geese on the farm side. On the wild side we spotted green monkeys, mongoose, egrets, humming birds, toads, African snails and more!

Visiting the beach and the sea was of course one of the key activities, and we chose Haywoods beach for that: it has parking, life guards, both clear sand for swimming as well as nice reefs for snorkelling, watersport rentals, and is only 10 mins drive along the coast - just north of Speightstown. There are also a few breathtaking viewing points of the Atlantic coast on the north-east side of the island only 20 mins away: Animal cave and River bay are a must see.

The owners were extremely welcoming and most helpful: Mary-Ann responded to all my questions and queries very promptly; we were greeted at the airport and shown our way to the house, and got much needed help with our luggage as rental cars are quite small.

10 out of 10

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful property and exactly as advertised. The property is at the far north end of the island in a much quieter and less tourist-geared area. We spent the first half of our vacation in this location and the second on the beach in Bridgetown. When coming back, we will definitely spend all of our time in the North. We had three children with us at the Managers House and the room to play both indoors and out was outstanding. The house is only a 10 minute drive to a number of spectacular beaches that we shared with very few people, if any at all (and we were here in the high season). Also there are several great restaurants within a short drive. Our hosts were very gracious and accommodating. We will definitely be back to the Managers House in the future.

The Manager's House is a family friendly property situated with a scenic plantation setting and although in a rural location, there are neighbours close by providing a secure environment. One of three houses who share the communal swimming pool, the emphasis is on country living in this breezy, peaceful destination. The plantation is now a racehorse and polo pony breeding stud with paddocks for the mares and foals as well as the farmyard animals on the property. The house was built in the traditional style dating from the 1800s and has been tastefully restored by the owner in a comfortable country style, as befitting the property. The Manager's House has 3 air-conditioned bedrooms, 2 en-suite bathroom, 1 family bathroom upstairs and 1 full shower room downstairs. The air-conditioned master bedroom has a 6'6' bed with en-suite bathroom, built-in wardrobes and traditional furnishings. The spacious en-suite bathroom has a shower, double vanity, bidet, WC and dressing table. One twin bedded room and one bedroom with a 5' bed share the family bathroom with bath with shower, WC and double vanity. These bedrooms have air conditioning with traditional furnishings. Downstairs the property is entered through a porched door to a hallway with the laundry room with washer and dryer to the right, the downstairs shower with shower and WC and basin straight ahead and the kitchen to the left. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and stove. The dining room leads from the kitchen and the living room is next to the dining room. The wrap around verandah is on three sides of the house. There are sun loungers on the verandah as well as living and dining with the outdoor dining table leading directly from the kitchen. Satellite TV and internet are provided. There is weekly maid service and baby sitting is available by arrangement. A welcome pack can be provided if requested and airport meet and greet service if required. Reservations for car hire, restaurants, golf, fishing etc. can be arranged. Use of the local gym and tennis, with or without coaching, are close by. Polo lessons and chukkas are available within a short distance from Bromefield at the world renowned Apes Hill Polo Centre and can be arranged to suit. Polo is played at Holders near to Holetown and at Apes Hill from November to May and there are many matches involving international visiting teams. Yoga is available at Port St Charles or in Holetown and for those yoga enthusiasts who want to try something different, paddle board yoga is also practised at Port St Charles during the high season between December and April. Horse-racing is in Bridgetown at the historic Garrison Savannah where you can see some of the Bromefield bred runners in action. There are walks on the doorstep through the cane fields which abut the property. In Holetown there are numerous excellent restaurants as well as shopping at the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre and many other stores in town. The cinema at Limegrove provides the latest in movies with seat side service for those in the gold seating. The exclusive Sandy Lane Hotel is also in nearby Holetown. St Nicholas Abbey is an attraction not to be missed and is close by along with the animal flower caves in the north of the island. Harrison's Caves are in the centre of the island and for children, the Wildlife Reserve is a short drive from Bromefield with the monkey feeding time a favourite. The Atlantis submarine is in Bridgetown for those wishing to have the underwater experience and the east coast is a short drive from Bromefield with the spectacular beaches on the Atlantic side of the island. The calm waters of the West Coast are must a few minutes from Bromefield with Port St Charles with the yacht club offering luxury beach access and Mullins Beach where you can rent sun beds by the day and have lunch at Mullins Restaurant some five minutes from Bromefield.
