Villa Diony is located in an exclusive residential complex consisting of 6 independent villas. Each villa has its own garden with private pool and a private parking space. Villa Diony is 5 minutes by foot from the nearest beach, which is located near a small fishing port. Villa Diony is located in the north east of Zante, Kavos Psarou in Zakynthos, between Alikanas and Tsilivi. The region is known for its lush vegetation and mild climate. Endless olive groves, lemon and orange trees are across the region. Many small and quiet beaches with crystal clear water in the hot summer months provide a welcome refreshment. The nearest organized beach is in Alikanas, just 4 km away. The Alikanas beach has been awarded with the Blue Flag, as a clean and well organized beach. There you will find water sports, taverns, supermarkets and a boat rental. Villa Diony is a stone villa for up to 8 people (6 beds plus 2 extra holding beds). 3 bedrooms, fitted kitchen, living room with fireplace and 2 bathrooms and garden with private pool. Walk to beach: 5 minutes. On the veranda, overlooking the sea, you will find a place to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets as also the bright stars in the night sky. 4 brown wooden lounge chairs and a three-people swing invite you to let your mind wander in the garden. The pool is illuminated at night. Scattered decoratives in the garden, such as lanterns with candles, make a romantic atmosphere. The villa is in a Mediterranean style, with brown old styled wooden furniture in the living area decorated by the traditional way. The natural stone walls inside the house give the classic Mediterranean ambience and provide a very cozy atmosphere. A stone arch separates the living area from the entrance and climb stairs. All the bedrooms have wooden furniture and iron beds with many and different decoratives composing a relaxing atmosphere.

We were met at the airport and followed our host to the villa. On arrival the villa was welcoming and clean with plenty of towels, including some to use by the pool. As the villa is of traditional construction it remained cool during the day and the air conditioning was only required occasionally and in the evenings, if you didn't want to get bitten! The pool is very small and shallow which made it difficult to do any swimming but was great to cool down and mess around in, smaller children would enjoy the pool. There is a bigger pool that we could use a short walk back to the main road, for a small fee, during our stay. The only area for improvement in the villa would be the uncomfortable sofa area that wasn't big enough for 4 of us let alone if the villa was full with 8. If you want to watch a dvd you will need to take a laptop and cable but the TV is modern and has hdmi connections. The WiFi connection was good enough to stream Netflix which was great for entertaining the kids for a couple of hours. No DVD player is available.
The local area is quiet and not over-developed. There is a local taverna, bakery and supermarket within a short drive. A car is essential for this location. We also found a lovely taverna, Lofos, with views over half of the island and great food, on the way to Alikanas. There was also a basketball court near here where our kids enjoyed playing in the cooler evenings.
We drove a short distance to Amboula beach a few times where we found a taverna with free sun beds next to a quiet beach with shallow water for great swimming conditions. We returned here one evening for a lovely meal overlooking the sea. We also spent a morning at the Water Village where our teenage kids enjoyed the slides and lazy river. This was about 20 minutes away by car. We chose not to go to the local water park in Tsilivi as it seemed better suited to young children, but this would be only 10 minutes drive.
Another day trip we did was a boat ride to The Blue Caves, stopping to swim when we wanted and lunch at a beachside taverna. It was a lovely way to see the north of the island.
We had no need to contact the owners during our stay but were given a contact phone number if we required it.
If you want a quiet, relaxing holiday this would be a great choice for a week or two.
The villa was immaculate, and everything looked very welcoming. We quickly settled in and found everything we needed. We made full use of the pool as the weather was fine and warm. The villa was cleaned every three days and sheets and towels changed at the same time. The local area is very peaceful and not over developed. The local beach is sandy and was not at all crowded. We loved the bread from the Windmill bakery, and the local supermarket has a good range of supplies. There are several good restaurants nearby - our favourite was the Crossroads Taverna - top quality Greek food (and plenty of it) served with a smile.
We had a wonderful time at the Villa Diony. It is one of the very best villas we have stayed in and coupled with a nice locality and Greek hospitality it has all the ingredients for an enjoyable holiday. We hope to return next year !
The house was as described on the website with ample space for a family, a compact swimming pool also ideal for families and there are plenty of beaches and restaurants within a short drive. We were met at the airport, even late in the evening, and driven to the house which was great since when you first arrive on the island it would be impossible to find. The property manager was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The house and pool were also cleaned every two days which was a pleasant suprise, and when we needed an additional cable for the DVD player it was provided quickly. There was a good wifi connection and a satellite TV, a compact dishwasher, large fridge, an electric stove and ove which all worked well.
The one major negative point was the plumbing. Each time you took the shortest of showers (2 minutes or less), whether in the upstairs or downstairs bathroom, water immediately started to come up the central drain in the bathroom floor quickly flooding the floor. Thus each time we took a short shower a further five or more minutes were spent mopping up the water. There was a washing machine in the downstairs bathroom, but when we started to use it water also came up from the drain in the floor almost immediately. Therefore we could not use the washing machine, nor have a proper shower. On the first day I reported this problem with the showers to the property manager. Interestingly, the cleaner seemed to be perfectly aware of the problem since she immediately described in which direction the water collected as it came out of the drain. Thus it was clearly not a new problem. As a HomeAway property owner in the past I am aware that there can be problems with a property and thus I contacted the owner directlly describing in detail the problem and asking that it be repaired immedialetely. Unfortunately, although the owner had been very quick to send an email when the advanced payments were due, I never heard back from her. Consequently we were unable to shower comfortably nor use the washing machine during our stay and thus why I am writing this review to highlight the problem so that future renters are aware in advance. It is a shame since it is a nice property that is spoiled by this plumbing fault that has clearly existed for some time but has not been rectified.
I would probably have given it close to 4 stars for a clean, compact holiday home with a pool and good basic facilities, but the plumbing issue puts it down to 3 stars.
We had a wonderful week at villa Diony. It is located in a quiet area surrounded by olive groves. The villa was full of character and was well maintained and very clean with all utensils provided. Nice big bedrooms. The veranda upstairs provided great views of the sea in the distance. Pool and garden were lovely and enabled many a relaxing day. When we arrived at the airport we were met by Costas who was very wellcoming and helped us sort out a problem with the car we had booked from the uk. During the journey from the airport to the villa he pointed out various places for shopping and restaurants etc. He showed us around the villa and we were able to contact him if needed. There were some restaurants nearby plus a small bakery and mini market for basic provisions. We went to various restaurants and also in Tsivili some evenings which had a fun but family atmosphere. Lots of lovley sites to go to in Zante, including the wreck and the blue caves. The people were very friendly and helpful. You do need a car. We would definitely visit villa Diony again and would recommend it.
beautiful house, just like the pictures. quiet and very quiet. excellent service managers who accompanied us. Impaccabile and frequent cleaning. Towels changed three times a week.
Dionysia and her staff were amazing hosts and the property is incredible. It is out of the way from all the crowds but close enough to Tsilivi and other parts of the island that you can experience everything. Great home base and will definitely stay there again or recommend it to anyone.
My wife, 2 kids (2 and 4), their grandma, and I used the place for 10 days and it was perfect. Everything was very clean and all of the appliances were new and worked perfectly. The pool in the pack was the perfect size also and yard was fully enclosed by a fence and flowers. Really a perfect setup for family and kids.
Price was also very reasonable and Dionysian and her team were responsive to any requests.
We love the place and will be back next time we are in Zakynthos.
