This chalet is ski-in and ski-out. The footpath at the side of the road is prepared and maintained for skiers during the ski season, allowing you the luxury of skiing the 400m to the main ski piste and down to the Savoleyres telecabin and also skiing back home at the end of the day. This ski-route is suitable for all except complete beginners, who would need to walk the 400m to the beginner skiing area. The modern high-speed telecabin carries you from La Tzoumaz up to the top of the Savoleyres in less than 8 minutes, from where you can decide to ski back on the quiet La Tzoumaz slopes or ski down to Verbier’s legendary slopes and world-class off-piste opportunities in the vast 4-Valleys ski area.

In summer, the area turns into a hiking and mountain biking paradise, with hundreds of kilometres of marked trails criss-crossing the mountains, awash with alpine flowers and a range of wildlife to spot. Chalet Mont Rose is a just a short, easy walk from the Maison de la Foret with its wildlife exhibitions and its Five Senses Nature Trail, along with the starting point of many beautiful hikes. The “Bisses” are relatively flat footpaths that follow the water as it trickles around the mountainsides, where for centuries farmers and villagers channelled the streams for their own uses. They have been preserved now and can be an incredible way to spend a day or more on easy hikes with stunning views across the Rhone Valley or over to the Massif des Combins. We’ll provide you with plenty of tourist information including our favourite suggestions for day trips that are easily reachable from La Tzoumaz, from spectacular gorge walks, cheese factories and roman festivals to rainy-day ideas such as underground lake tours. The road that winds up the mountain-top to the panoramic Croix-de-Coeur Cafe-Restaurant opens as soon as the snow melts and from here you can continue the drive (or cycle) all the way down into Verbier.
In the peak summer season from early July to late August, the telecabin link to Verbier operates daily from 08:45 to 12:30 and from 13:30 to 16:45, meaning that you can easily access the famous resort as a pedestrian or accompanied by your bicycle. You can even use a variety of mountain lifts to make your way up to Mont Fort at 3300m for Europe’s highest fondue and incredible mountain panoramas that include Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. Don’t miss the Swiss National Celebrations in La Tzoumaz on August 1st, or the famous festival of live music performances, the Verbier Festival, which runs from mid-July to the beginning of August.
La Tzoumaz Ski-in Ski-out Chalet Mont Rose
We are Percy and Anna Kirkman, and we live in La Tzoumaz all year round, love outdoor sports, and are passionate about the beauty and opportunities of the region. We are fluent in both English and French. Originally from England, we both followed international careers within Procter & Gamble before making a life-changing move to the mountains at the end of 2013. We believe we are the most customer-focused professional holiday rental agency here in the resort, and we work hard year-round to find ways to improve our services to you as holidaymakers.
We believe the region of La Tzoumaz is magical. It has access to some of the best skiing in Europe, hundreds of kilometres of majestic hiking, fantastic mountain bike trails, wonderful family footpaths, and is a delight to live in all year round. We want to help other people to enjoy La Tzoumaz all year round, both now and into the future.
The chalet was extremely comfortable and has been carefully and tastefully furnished to create a home from home with every possible amenity - everything we needed was provided. This did not feel like some of the holiday rentals we have experienced in other places at all. There are some lovely touches inside the chalet - both modern and typical alpine styles.
We had a perfect week of relaxation inside and outside in the large garden with wonderful uninterrupted views and glorious weather. We loved the firepit outside on one or two cooler evenings.
Certainly we did not want to leave but we hope to come back sometime. Excellent!
There were 8 of us who stayed here--two families with four children, ages 2-18, during the summer, and couldn't rave enough about this place! The views were outstanding and everything we needed was there and clean. Hiking trails were right out the door. If you are looking for a place to escape to the mountains with your family, this is a great choice!
+ The location of the house is fantastic
+ Great view and very quiet
+ Lots of easily accessible walks nearby
+ The House is very good, pretty new and has everything needed
- The kitchen is a bit small (even for 6 people)
- The Sun umbrellas outside were broken
Beautiful home with, extremely comfortable beds. Everything needed to enjoy a holiday, including great Dvd selection! Fantastic location with stunning views. Enjoyed lovely walks down to the village every day. Local swimming pool and playground great for kids! Went up to the top of the mountain on cable car trip, thoroughly enjoyable.
Highly recommend a trip to chalet mont-rose!
The versatile resort of La Tzoumaz is nestled just over the back of Verbier’s Mount Savoleyres with access to all of the famous Verbier 4-Valleys slopes and off-piste areas in winter. In summer, the mountains become a paradisaical network of hiking trails and mountain-bike routes, with something for every taste. From La Tzoumaz you can ride the same legendary pistes and powder bowls, but accommodation prices are only a fraction of those in Verbier itself! Every property is prepared to high standards and each has a stunning panoramic view of the mountains and valley. The resort is only 1h45 from Geneva Airport, and transfers can be arranged on request. We live in the resort year-round and are on hand to welcome you on your arrival and to help you with anything you might need to know or arrange, whether before, during or after your stay. If we’re not in the office, we’ll gladly take your call even if we’re out enjoying the biking, hiking or skiing for ourselves…
