Beautifully fitted one double bedroom flat in the heart of London
This enchanting apartment, fitted out to a very high standard (like a high quality hotel suite, only lovelier), is perfect for a couple or a single person and works well for holidays, short breaks, or for business-visitors. A third person can be accommodated on a small sofa-bed which will be very comfortable for a person up to 170 cm (5'6'') tall.
This apartment is on the first floor (one storey above street level) of a lovely Victorian townhouse, built in 1846. The staircase leading to the apartment is seventeen steps, with a landing after the first thirteen. The neat accommodation comprises an open-plan kitchen/dining/sitting room, with ‘Smart’ TV and Apple Box. Unlimited wireless broadband is provided, as well as pre-paid access to Netflix. Making the most of every inch of space, there is a small desk area, a two-seater sofa and a comfortable armchair, as well as a dining table that can fold out to accommodate six people for a dinner party. There are a range of different lighting choices, to suit every mood and need. Linen is provided for both the main bed and the sofa-bed, as are towels, face cloths, toiletries and a welcome pack of groceries.
The kitchen/dining area, which has underfloor heating to complement the apartment’s gas-fired central heating system, is fitted with every modern convenience, all of high standard: refrigerator, freezer, stove, ovens, microwave, extractor fan system, kettle, toaster. Plenty of high quality cookware and tableware is provided; and if you don’t feel like cooking, there are bakeries and a wealth of restaurants literally round the corner.
The bathroom is small but perfectly fitted, with a powerful shower over the bath and atmospheric lighting. A separate utility area houses a washer-dryer and laundry baskets, iron and ironing board.
The delightful bedroom is quietly situated at the back of the apartment (in fact, there's not much noise from the street at the front of the apartment, either). The bedroom contains a full-sized bed for two people (5’0” or 150 cm wide - called a Queen in the US and a King in the UK) made up with high quality bedding. There is ‘mood’ lighting, a phone-charger/radio/alarm clock, drawers for underwear and a well-lit dressing table area and, in the adjacent small hall, plenty of wardrobe and storage space. A hairdryer is provided.
From the bedroom, a door leads out onto a charming sun-trap private deck, with table, chairs and barbecue – perfect for outside dining on a summer evening.
Cleaning and maintenance are to the highest standard. This is a real home-from-home with every detail attended to by the owners, who keep a sharp eye on the whole operation.
The street in which the house is located is the most highly-sought-after in the area: small, quiet and as pretty as a picture. The local district, Pimlico (in Westminster), is one of London’s most acclaimed ‘villages’, with a pleasant local feel and a wonderful array of shops and restaurants yet in the heart of this great city. The location is unmatched in London. You can walk from this apartment to most of the main tourist attractions (see LOCALITY on this web-page), or go jogging along the Thames, which is just five minutes’ walk away and find yourself in the green spaces of Battersea Park, with its ‘peace pagoda’ rising up beside the water. Bikes can be hired in the area, and if you bring your own bikes, these can be stored in the basement (ask us).
The property is a few minutes’ walk from excellent supermarkets, some of them open 24/7 and the transport links are amazing. There are taxis galore and you are two minutes’ walk from the nearest Underground (‘Tube’) station (Pimlico- Victoria Line) and one minute from the best bus in London (the No24, which carries you past the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, No 10 Downing Street – the residence of the Prime Minister – and Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery, on its short ride into the West End). Victoria Mainline Station and Victoria Coach Station are both 10 minutes’ walk away, providing quick and easy links to all airports and the overground rail network, as well as car-hire collection and drop-off points (parking is free in the street over the weekend and garaging is nearby). For drivers, there is easy access to the A3, leading out of London. For visitors from Europe, St Pancras Station (where the Eurostar ‘docks’) is a 10 minute direct tube ride away, from Pimlico Underground Station.

About Adrienne Burgess
We are a couple who have worked mainly in the theatre and the arts, although Adrienne is now a writer/researcher specialising in fatherhood and Martin works as a communications coach. We have been renting out properties for almost 40 years.
Adrienne Burgess purchased this Apartment in 1983
Why Adrienne Burgess chose Tachbrook
This was actually the first apartment that Adrienne and Martin ever owned! it was Martin's to start with. He knew the moment he walked into it that it was for him: light, compact, well laid out and situated in the best street in this delightful district.
What makes this Apartment unique
The remarkable thing about 'Pimlico' (the area in which this lovely apartment is situated), is that it is quite like a village, and yet it is right in the heart of perhaps the greatest city in the world. Neighbours know each other; the three intersecting streets that make up 'the Moretons' (also known as the Moreton Triangle) contain many family houses and have an active residents' association, the people in the shops are friendly, and yet the district is cosmopolitan and exciting. In Pimlico you can be peaceful, yet never feel that life is passing you by. . .

Perfection in Pimlico
I recently stayed at The Moretons and very much enjoyed my stay. The apartment is in a great location, a quiet residential area but with plenty of restaurants, grocery stores, and access to bus lines and underground stations (Victoria and Pimlico). This apartment has everything I could have needed or wanted for my stay, including: ample closet space, a large medicine cabinet, plenty of hot water and water pressure in the bathroom, a clothes washer, a well-appointed kitchen, lots of towels for the kitchen and bath, and comfortable bed with plenty of pillows and warm duvet. Adrienne and Carole provided prompt and helpful communication before, during, and after my stay. I particularly appreciated all the small touches that made my stay so comfortable: a basket of groceries to get me started; all the instruction manuals for the appliances; scissors, maps/guidebooks, notepaper, and pens; shampoo, bath bubbles, and shower gel; soaps for the dishwasher, clothes washer, and both sinks; a first aid kit, a sewing kit, and even a shoeshine kit. They also supplied a binder with instructions and tips on local restaurants, buses, trash/recycling, and how to operate the shower knobs. I've stayed in a rental flat before where the landlord provided nothing of the kind, and I much prefer this level of care. It's apparent that Adrienne and Carole want their guests to be comfortable, and have all their needs met. That was certainly my experience staying at the Moretons apartment. I would, without hesitation, stay there again, and recommend the Moretons (or other properties owned by Adrienne) to friends.
Wow!!!! How perfectly LOVELY of you to spend all that time writing such a detailed review. Thank you so much! It is indeed our great pleasure to make sure that everyone is as comfortable as possible, and it is a real thrill to know that all our detail is appreciated. Thankyou again so very much - and we do hope to be able to welcome you again in the future!
We stayed a week in this apartment and loved it. We were welcomed with a basket of groceries including everything we needed for breakfast and more. The apartment is large, clean and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook light meals. The bed is small, but comfortable. The towels and linens are high quality. The instructions provided for everything in the apartment were handy.
The neighborhood is quiet and safe, close to a bus stop and Pimlico tube station. We took the subway, bus 24, and even a river boat for public transportation and also walked a lot. We would definitely stay here again.
Clean. Comfortable. Convenient.
No detail was overlooked in the preparation of this flat. Quality linens, nice kitchen cookware, soaps, extra cozy throws for curling up at the end of the day to watch tv, washing machine powder, fresh milk and bread and butter and a few treats are all there when you arrive. The flat was so clean with lots of great lighting. The location was perfect and any little issue is immediately addressed by the owner. I cannot begin to say enough about the high quality of this rental!
Thank you so much for staying in our apartment. You were lovely guests and having you stay was a great pleasure. We trust we will be able to welcome you again! Thankyou!
Beautifully furnished, comfortable, conveniently located
We were delighted with the food basket provided for us and impressed with attention to detail. Everything needed for a vacation home was provided.
We are so pleased you were so comfortable - and delighted that our little 'Welcome' food basket meant so much to you! Guests always appreciate the fact that it means they don't need to rush out for food immediately - or starve! Do visit again soon!
Great Stay in London!
We had a wonderful time staying at this cute place in Plimco! The place was clean, very centrally located (super close to Plimco station and a short walk from Victoria station), felt safe, and had a great selection of cooking items. The bedroom is quite compact but still comfortable. We were a group of three so one of us slept on the couch which worked out well. I would definitely recommend this place for a wonderful stay in London!
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay and found the location of the flat so convenient!
Central but peaceful location.
You cannot but help liking this comfortable and well located flat. Only a few minutes walk from Victoria station, a few hundred metres from Pimlico tube station, surrounded by shops and restaurants, but beautifully quiet.
The flat is small but has everything you could possibly need and Adrienne and her team cannot do enough to help make your stay comfortable.
We are so pleased you felt so comfortable and peaceful! Thank you very much for staying with us!
With its amazing CENTRAL London location (SW1V 2NP - Google it!), this quietly situated apartment is brilliantly positioned right in the heart of London for a see-all London visit.
It’s a minute's WALK from shops, supermarkets, restaurants, outdoor food-market, Pimlico Tube (underground) & 24-hour taxis, buses, car clubs, bike hire.
Fitness facilities are available at a number of locations within five minutes' walk (including at the Queen Mother Sports Centre). It’s a 10-min WALK to an intimate, brand new three-screen cinema and major theatres (currently WICKED and BILLY ELLIOT are running), as well as to the River Thames, Buckingham Palace, Tate Britain, Lambeth Palace, Westminster Cathedral, M16, Mi5, St James Park, Victoria Station & Victoria Coach Station (from which there are easy rail/coach links to Heathrow, Gatwick & Europe). And 15 minutes to the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, No 10 Downing Street , the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre and all the key government department buildings in this great city.
It’s a 20-min WALK to Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, the King's Road/Chelsea. Short tube/bus rides take you direct to Harrods, the major Museums in South Kensington (or you can walk to them in 40 minutes), to Oxford Street, Piccadilly Circus, the West End, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden, the National Gallery, the Imperial War Museum, the Festival Hall, Shakespeare’s Globe, the National Theatre & National Film Theatre, Hayward Gallery, IMAX, Waterloo Station, Tate Modern.
Local activities include fitness facilities, shopping and restaurants, (a fantastic selection), London bus tours and river boats. There’s an excellent health food shop and a public swimming pool/ fitness complex within five minutes’ walk, and you can jog through the backstreets up to St James’ Park (in front of Buckingham Palace) which then adjoins Green Park, or head south along the river for ten minutes to reach the wide open spaces of Battersea Park.
Victoria Mainline Station, just ten minutes’ walk from the house, has long been the stepping-off-point for Europe - and the magnificent Orient Express still leaves from there. During the two world wars, soldiers traveled from Victoria to the continent. The district then was full of small shops where tailors and seamstresses adapted uniforms to fit. Today, some of those shops remain – but now they’re haute-couture.
