Santa Virginia and the Morfini family and staff's hospitality was exceptional during our month stay at this amazing property. The pictures are very accurate and don't do the property justice as the views in any weather are breathtaking and spectacular! The warm days at the early part of our stay allowed us the use the pool and grounds like a summer retreat and as the weather turned cooler we were allowed to learn about the vineyard and cantina and feel a part of harvest and making of the amazing wines from this working tenuta. Duccio and Ana were very helpful with all of our questions and concerns and offered great advise regarding places to see and how to navigate the local area. This property is wonderfully located to reach the surrounding hill/wine towns and yet have close access to Siena and Florence for their bounties. I would without reservation recommend this property to anyone wanting a short or long term rental in a gorgeous Italian country style home for a special family getaway.
Really should be 6 stars, not just 5..Great facility, great owners/hosts. Fun with the Merlot harvest.
Hope to go back.
Only complaint...... Not enough time there.
We just returned from staying at this amazing property set in the Tuscan hills, less than 10 minutes from Siena. The beauty of the property both inside and out was fantastic. We were a group of 10 people (5 couples) staying for a week. The farmhouse was incredibly spacious very clean upon arrival and beautifully furnished with period pieces. A mid-week visit to replenish to change sheets, clean towels in the bathrooms and kitchen and any other amenities we required was arranged around our schedule and a nice touch. The house does not have air conditioning, however, is not required. The breezes in the area and the cross-breezes throughout the house were cooling in the evening. No issues at all with sleeping as there was no residual heat left in the house from the high afternoon outside temperatures of at least 30 degrees C .
We would gladly return to this property. The pictures on the VRBO site didn't disappoint and were a true reflection of the property. Our host Duccio was very informative, pleasant to deal with and was available for any questions we had or any issues that we faced.
Truly an enjoyable vacation, a dream come true to stay in an old Tuscan farmhouse overseeing the vineyards and olive groves.
Santa Virginia, as this property is called, sits on a Tuscan hilltop among the rolling hills of grape vines and olive trees. It comes with a pool, which the kids used every chance they could. There is a bathroom in every bedroom which always makes each guest happy. There was plenty of space for our group of 9 to spread out and be alone when they wanted. The kitchen is well stocked. We had a chef for 3 of the nights, which was delicious and well worth it, in fact depending on where you go out to eat, may actually be cheaper. We rented some taxis which came and whisked us into to Siena for a night of dining, which is also great as it is so close. The location made day trips to various hill towns easy and drivable. The pictures online don't do the scenery justice. While sitting by the pool, we all remarked how the sight in front of us, literally looked like a painting. That's how amazing the view is. The proprietors of the property Duccio and his wife Alessandra were away for the first few days, so we got to meet Tullio and Ana, which are Duccio's brother and sister. They took care of every need we had until Duccio returned. They have a few cases of wine, and prosecco, in the kitchen to buy, which was very good and reasonably priced. This is the wine produced on the property, in fact, in the basement of Santa Virginia! The tour is a must. There are grocery stores and other shops a short 10-15 minute drive away which was convenient as it is also right outside the Siena wall. We had 3 generations with us from 9-80 and everyone had a memorable time. If a Tuscan villa vacation is on your list, then this property will not disappoint. Ciao
We stayed at the property last week - a group of 6 adults and 6 children. We had the most amazing week and are so happy we decided on this house. The setting is simply stunning, we didn't leave the grounds much as we just couldn't get enough of the views. The house itself is huge and beautifully restored. We had all meals outside, the pool is lovely, the small and big kids of the group enjoyed table tennis tournaments, there is a selection of toys inside too, the kitchen is well stocked with everything necessary for a big group. Thank you to the family for making us feel welcome! I hope we will be able to return.
All the best,
Villa Santa Virginia is all that the web site claims it to be and more. We returned from a two week stay with nothing but happy memories . Duccio and Alessandra were always available and anxious to ensure our comfort. The bread ,fruit, wine and cheese which they provided on the day we arrived at the Villa was a warm welcome as our large travel weary group arrived from different parts of the United States. Thirteen family members were comfortably accommodated . We made day trips to Florence and villages such as San Gimignano and were fortunate to experience all the excitement and color of the Palio in Siena during our stay and the lovely villa was always a treat to return to.
The Villa is situated in a prime location for a pleasant stay in the countryside and for visiting Siena (7 km from the center), his' Piazza del Campo, its museums, historic buildings, and the traditional Palio Contrade.
You can visit in a day Florence (75 km), Arezzo (67 km), San Gimignano (45 km), Rapolano (29 km), the beaches of Maremma (100 km), the UNESCO site of the Val d'Orcia ( 50 km) and Monte Amiata. The Villa is 3 km from the cycle path de 'Eroica' and the center of the food and wine of the Chianti Classico (12km) and Montalcino (40 km).
