Guestbook comments from the owner

I was returning to St monans with many happy childhood memories and this holiday did not disappoint. The cottage is situated on the coastal path and has the added benefit of a seating area outside. To be able to relax with your morning coffee and enjoy the view is an added bonus. The cottage itself has all mod cons and we found it very easy to find any thing we needed. It was lovely to have a wood burning stove in the kitchen which gave it a cosy feel. A washing machine was very handy after a busy day of rock pooling with the children.

St monans remains a beautiful and friendly fishing village and this fab cottage was the icing on a terrific break

Beautiful Cottage with Stunnng Views

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful holiday in the cottage which was situated right on the seafront at St Monans. Lovely and clean with everything we needed for the week, quiet and close the the centre of the town. Particularly enjoyed walking the coastal path to Elie, Pitenweem and Anstruther. Lovely coffee shop in St. Monans and the chip shop in Anstruther is great. St. Andrews is close and Edinburgh not too far (park and ride using the tram just over the Firth of Forth). Beaches lovely and quiet and great for dogs. Will definitely be looking to return in the future.

A real home away from home.

This cottage is every bit as beautiful as it looks in the pictures. Beautifully renovated, beautifully furnished, and beautifully clean!

It would've been nice to have a shelf in the bathrooms for our soap bags but, other than that I really can't fault it, and I'd definitely stay here again.

Lovely location, very well-appointed property!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just returned from a stay at Rockslea and we couldn't be happier with our choice. The location was wonderful, the town of St. Monans was so friendly and quaint, and very conveniently located near many esteemed golf courses, which was our primary vacation activity. We also enjoyed walking the Fife Coastal trail and visiting the St. Monans windmill (you can pick a key up from the post office). There are several restaurants in the area, but we missed going to a few because we did not make reservations ahead of time, so one recommendation would be to plan ahead for that. The nearby towns of Elie, Pittenweem, and Anstruther also has some nice restaurant options.

The cottage itself was extremely well-appointed with high quality renovations and an adorable coastal design. We loved the look and feel of the entire place and the sweeping coastal views from every room. I definitely miss listening to the sounds of the sea waves as I sleep now that I am back home! We had 5 people stay together and there was plenty of room for all of us. The owner, Gus, was very quick to respond to any questions we had via email. You can tell this vacation cottage was a labor of love and the owners are (and should be) very proud of it! We couldn't recommend it enough and hope to make it back someday. Thanks a bunch for making our stay so great!

On the Fife coast footpath, we sat relaxing on the bench at the front of the property chatting to walkers as they made their way. Very relaxing.

Beautiful cottage by the sea in quiet village

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Rockslea for a week in mid-july and it was beyond all our expectations. We were with our teen daughter and everybody had a great time.

The cottage has been beautifully restored and the kitchen is set with high quality components, including a large gas stove. On the second floor, there are two large rooms, one with ensuite bathroom, and the beds are very confortable. There are also two large sofa beds in the living room.

There are incredible sea views for both floors and there is also a little terrace in front of the cottage, with two wood benches, where we used to sit every night before or after dinner.

The village is very quiet, with a general store and some good restaurants. You are only steps from the coastal path, a popular trekking path you can use to go to the other villages nearby. We went to Elie, Pettenween, Anstruther... but St.Monans was the most beautiful for us!

There is also a fantastic farm shop, Ardross, only minutes from the cottage and we used to get there for most of our foods. Among the restaurant, a visit to the East Pier Smokehouse will give you the chance to taste some of the best smoked fish (and cheese) of Scotland.

There are golf courses and tennis courts nearby. I had to go to St-Andrews on a delay basis and it took me only 20-25 minutes, even during the Open.

All in all, we couldn't have choose a better place for that week in Fife!
