We had a very relaxing 3 night stay at this cozy cabin. The cabin was well-stocked with kitchen utensils for meals. The screened-in front porch was very enjoyable with a hot cup of coffee. The cabin has a wood-burning stove as well as an electric fireplace for extra heat (we were very comfortable over the chilly weekend!). We were able to fish off the dock in the evenings - there is a bait shop not too far. Firewood was provided. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing experience and we were very happy with our stay!
Kayaking with loons
I had a wonderful stay over the 4th of July weekend. Cabin was well-stocked with kitchen items. Queen bed was wonderful to sleep on. Windows on all sides of cabin and fan inside allowed cool breeze in. Screened in porch kept the mosquitoes out. The outhouse was as expected, but the hand sanitizer and light inside was greatly appreciated. The property has a shared dock and shared kayak, canoe, and paddleboat, but I had access to equipment whenever I wanted it. Three loons kept me company on the quiet lake while I kayaked. I could see more than 10 fish at a time through the clear water at the end of the dock. Relaxing getaway.
The cabin is located between North and South Twin Lakes and features a private dock, provided kayak for easygoing hours of fishing, swimming and boating! The surrounding Chippewa National Forest features 2 of the state's largest lakes and is home to the highest breeding population of bald eagles in the lower 48. Bring your binoculars to watch them soaring overhead.
Along with the 315 miles of snowmobile trails in the national forest, the adjacent Buena Vista State Forest features 21 miles of marked snowmobile trails and 20 miles of cross-country ski trails! Both also boast hiking trails and paved multi-use trails for biking.
Itasca State Park boasts the headwaters of the Mississippi River, which continues for more than 2,300 miles until it reaches the Gulf of Mexico! Bring your camera to photograph the Paul Bunyan & Babe the Ox statues in nearby Bemidji! Stop for a pint at Bemidji Brewing before heading home.
