2 bedroom barn conversion, in secluded valley, close to beaches and golf course
David and Mary Horne
About David and Mary Horne
My wife and I retired in 2014 and bought The Coach House as a holiday home. At the time we lived in Maidenhead, Berkshire. We enjoyed coming down to Devon so much that we decided to move down here. We now live in Thurlestone, 5 minutes drive away from The Coach House. We have two children, both in their late twenties. We both enjoy walking, and exploring beautiful countryside, and I play golf and tennis at Thurlestone.
David and Mary Horne purchased this Barn in 2014
Why David and Mary Horne chose Kingsbridge
I first discovered Bantham and Thurlestone during a golf trip to the South Hams some 20 years ago, and immediately fell in love with it. It is designated as an 'area of outstanding natural beauty', which means that there are extremely strict regulations regarding planning permission for development. Bantham village is part of a larger estate, which is privately owned by people who are determined to ensure that the beauty of the location is maintained. When we retired, my wife and I decided that we would like to buy a holiday home in the area. We were particularly interested in converted barns, so were delighted when one came onto the market. We immediately fell in love with the Coach House, and the beautiful, secluded and peaceful valley in which it is situated, and have taken great pleasure in restoring the property since we bought it in 2014.

Lovely cottage, fantastic location
The cottage was perfect, had everything we needed, lovely stone exterior, modern kitchen. Just a mile or two from Bantham, a place we had never heard of. A privately owned village, no development, a pristine beach, and wonderful coastal walk right there. Excellent pub. Highly recommend this for anyone visiting south Devon. And Dartmoor only an hour away.
Lovely , very clean house ... close to a gorgeous beach and great facilities ! Lovely and cosy and relaxing .Would definatly visit again !
The best place we’ve ever stayed
Gorgeous property, gorgeous surroundings. The coach house is the most well equipped and pleasing property we have ever stayed in. The cows, stream and general wildlife just outside our window adds to the sublime atmosphere here. The property had everything you could need, even down to a windbreak, sellotape and a wash basket. We wanted for nothing, we miss it now we’ve left, if you are reading this because you are considering staying there then get it booked, you won’t regret it.
Very enjoyable and easy stay.
Very attentive and helpful owners.
