About David and Mary Horne

My wife and I have recently retired. We live in a small village called Littlewick Green, near Maidenhead, in Berkshire. It is the archetypal English village, with a cricket pitch, a church and a pub. We have lived there for 23 years; prior to that, we lived in Ealing, in West London. We have two children, both in their twenties. We both enjoy walking, and exploring beautiful countryside.

David and Mary Horne purchased this barn in 2014

Why David and Mary Horne chose South Hams

I first discovered Bantham and Thurlestone during a golf trip to the South Hams some 20 years ago, and immediately fell in love with it. It is designated as an 'area of outstanding natural beauty', which means that there are extremely strict regulations regarding planning permission for development. Bantham village is part of a larger estate, which is privately owned by people who are determined to ensure that the beauty of the location is maintained.

When we retired, my wife and I decided that we would like to buy a holiday home in the area. We were particularly interested in converted barns, so were delighted when one came onto the market. We immediately fell in love with the Coach House, and the beautiful, secluded and peaceful valley in which it is situated, and have taken great pleasure in restoring the property since we bought it in June.

What makes this barn unique

We would like you to share in the pleasure we have enjoyed in visiting this beautiful area, together with the house and the beautiful valley it is situated in.

fantastic property, next time will be a longer stay. thankyou very much.

  • 5 of 5

very nice area. beaches first class. driving down very small lanes was easy to get lost and hard to find your location. would it be possible to add

the post code to your list of pubs in booklet, I know you have phone numbers but I think this would improve there finding.

thanks again for a best ever short break.

Beautiful, well maintained cottage in a lovely peaceful setting

  • 5 of 5

The property was extremely well equipped and well maintained and was very comfortable.

The cottage is located in a quiet peaceful setting in lovely countryside but was also convenient for visiting the many attractions in the area.

Our visit was also enhanced by superb weather for the full week.

We would have no hesitation in staying at The Coach House again in the future

A beautiful homely place to stay on our first trip to Devon

  • 5 of 5

We fell in love with this property as soon as we stepped through the door. The owners answered all questions prior to our trip and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

Yes the barn was off the beaten track, hidden down a steep hill but we loved this about it and the views surrounding it. It was quiet and peaceful and the property itself was clean and tastefully done. The beds were also incredibly comfortable! We were fortunate enough to get a bit of sun so enjoyed the sunshine on the bench at the front of the barn. A great size for 4 university friends catching up over a long weekend, and we appreciated the lovely bottle of wine from David & Mary which was a very generous touch!

We also highly recommend a visit to Hope Cove, a beautiful village and beach but be careful on the tight roads, you can't be too precious with your car around the area populated with tractors and large vans!

Thank you again David & Mary for a wonderful long weekend in your property.
