2 bedroom, 200 year old barn conversion, sleeping 4/5, 1 mike from Bantham beach, awarded best in UK and 6th best in Europe by Lonely Planet. Newly furnished throughout, with electric central heating and log burner. Ideal for families or couples. Newly fitted kitchen (from November 2014) / dining room, including washing

machine, tumble dryer, dish washer, microwave, fridge and separate freezer. Spacious living room. Master bedroom, second bedroom with twin beds, plus 'z bed' suitable for a child. Bathroom, with bath and shower. Small garden, set within larger communal grounds, adjacent to a stream and a farm with alpacas, sheep, horses. Barbecue, picnic table. Separate shed, useful for additional storage.

About David and Mary Horne

My wife and I have recently retired. We live in a small village called Littlewick Green, near Maidenhead, in Berkshire. It is the archetypal English village, with a cricket pitch, a church and a pub. We have lived there for 23 years; prior to that, we lived in Ealing, in West London. We have two children, both in their twenties. We both enjoy walking, and exploring beautiful countryside.

Why David and Mary Horne chose Kingsbridge

I first discovered Bantham and Thurlestone during a golf trip to the South Hams some 20 years ago, and immediately fell in love with it. It is designated as an 'area of outstanding natural beauty', which means that there are extremely strict regulations regarding planning permission for development. Bantham village is part of a larger estate, which is privately owned by people who are determined to ensure that the beauty of the location is maintained.

When we retired, my wife and I decided that we would like to buy a holiday home in the area. We were particularly interested in converted barns, so were delighted when one came onto the market. We immediately fell in love with the Coach House, and the beautiful, secluded and peaceful valley in which it is situated, and have taken great pleasure in restoring the property since we bought it in June.

There is no mobile phone signal in the house, but a signal can be received at the top of the drive into Buckland Park. We have WiFi.

lovely holiday

Delightful barn conversion, and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, even had stunning weather! Beautifully clean, lovely welcome, the wine an extra bonus and much appreciated! and everything we needed, all best quality. Thank you. Only comments, one of our party is 6ft.6ins and the height in bathroom was not easy for him. Also a slight concern having no boundary with children running around, you are reliant on others driving very slowly around the blind corner of the property.

Lovely cottage close to fab Bantham Beach

Lovely cottage with everything you would need.

Close to lots of different beaches and quick drive to Salcombe.

The owner was extremely helpful with reuniting me with my forgotten belongings!

I would just be aware that the path running past property is the right of way to other properties so small children need to be closely monitored for passing cars.

Well equipped cottage in a peaceful location

This was a great location for exploring South Devon with some wonderful walks from the cottage, from a short walk across the fields to Bantham to the stunning the Avon Estuary circular walk. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed our short time in the area and would definitely return.

Beautiful, well equipped barn conversion in peaceful setting

The barn itself feels much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. It has loads of character and has everything you need for a holiday. Although the property is slightly overlooked from another property, this did not detract at all from our holiday and the garden to the front was perfect for barbeques. Our boys loved their room, it was a good size but still really cosy, our 7 year old could often be found fully dressed tucked up in bed with his book! The shed on the side is a really good size and was great for storing surf boards, hanging wetsuits and for storing other beach stuff.

Although the beach is just over a mile away, due to the roads being a little precarious, we opted to drive rather than walk. The beach at Bantham is beautiful with a good sized car park, even on the busiest day we were able to park. Also you can buy a week long car park ticket for £25, which was well worth it.

We can also recommend The Sloop pub for food. The menu was fantastic, also lots of vegetarian options, the food and service were excellent.

We are regular visitors to this area and can thoroughly recommend it for a holiday, there are lots of beautiful beaches, towns and villages to visit and this lovely barn conversion is the ideal holiday home to help you feel like you are getting away from it all.

Beautiful location, gorgeous house.

This place is gorgeous. Such a tranquil setting in a delightful area of Devon. The Coach house was comfortable, modern, clean and stylish and gave us a great base for exploring over the bank holiday weekend.

Bantham beach was incredible, a must see but beware of the road heading down there! It’s single track with passing points and on a sunny day gets very busy - quite nerve wracking at times!

The Coach House is a short drive from plenty of great places to visit including National Trust spots and English Heritage places too. We drove slightly further away for days out in Dartmouth and Salcombe too.

Would highly recommend this property.
