It's located in the historical centre of the city, inside the Castle's walls, at 400 meters from the Roman Temple, the Cathedral and the Municipal Museum.
Évora is also an excelent place to settle a base and visit the surrounding beautiful cities such as Monsaraz, Estremoz, Elvas, Vila Viçosa, Arraiolos (average distance: 50 km).
We stayed for 10 days and were able to walk everywhere in Evora. We were able to park our car just outside the walls within walking distance at no charge. We also used the apartment as a base for day trips by car to nearby locations such as Elvas, Portalegre, Monsarraz, etc. Evora has great restaurants and public squares as well as other attractions. The apartment is clean and modern. The bed was comfortable. The best part of the visit was the opportunity to spend time with the hosts, Luis and Antonia. They recommended great restaurants. They accompanied us on a couple of excursions, including a visit to Herdade de Rocim near Cuba/Vidigueira for wine tasting. We were able to gain a deeper understanding of Portuguese culture and cuisine with their help. We highly recommend this location.
The apartment is newly renovated and part of a much larger property that came from Luis' family. Eventually the property will house 2 stores, the owner's primary residence, a long term rental and several short term rentals. The apartment has all the modern conveniences while keeping the wonderful historical designs of the building including for example barrel ceilings. The apartment is two stories with the living room and bedroom above the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a small grocery nearby. Free car parking is about 10 minutes walking to just outside the old city walls. Fans provide cooling when necessary. While the apartment is nice, the most wonderful part of our stay was sharing time with Luis, Antonia and their darling son Santiago. We feel as if they are friends for life. They will spend as much time as you desire with you to explain their culture and geographic area. For example, they spent an entire day with us as we explored the area by car stopping at a typical restaurant for lunch where the local men might break into song after a few drinks. For sure we were treated to experiences only the locals normally enjoy. Only with this type of exchange will you really experience a country. Portugal is full of beautiful landscapes and even more beautiful people. Again the apartment is wonderful but you will miss out if you don't take the opportunity to share time with Luis, Antonia and Santiago. They are a wealth of knowledge and full of genuine concern that you have best experience possible. Enjoy!!!
We've stayed in several HomeAway (or similar) properties over the last 8-9 years, all excellent experiences, but this was the property with the most welcoming hosts. Luís and Antónia were kind enough to meet us at the bus station, and even to take us (when they found out that we didn't have a car) for a day out to Monsaraz, stopping at a ceramics workshop on the way that we would never have found by ourselves. We learned a great deal from them about the area and Portugal as a whole.
The apartment is fantastic - quite minimalistically and very stylishly decorated, in a lovely little cul-de-sac only a few minutes' walk from the main square and within a couple of minutes of excellent restaurants, bars and convenient small grocery shops. It was very well kitted-out, with everything we could want, and the nice surprise of some local produce from Luís and Antónia to start us off.
We'd highly recommend Casa do Becco da Forçada - great apartment and great hosts.
Large, clean, well supplied apartment inside the walled city of 'Evora. Luis and Antonia were there to welcome us and helped us with our planning. They had cheese and bread on the table & written information to help us. Luis drove us out to the start of our hike of the Roman Aqueduct. I highly recommend their apartment and am impressed by their devotion to their tenants experience.
Luís and Antónia are the best hosts we've met! They were lovely, welcoming and gave us great advices about restaurants and attractions in and around Évora. They were happy to answer all of our questions and tell us interesting stories about the history and culture of Portugal and Évora.
The beautiful apartment is in an historically preserved building but newly renovated, and has everything you need. it is in a great location, inside Évora, and still very close to a free car park outside the walls.
We will gladly come back next time we visit Évora!
Our hosts, Luis and Antonia, went out of their way to make our stay in Evora enjoyable. They helped us find artifacts that are rarely seen by the normal tourists visiting the area. The house was newly renovated and had all we needed for a comfortable stay.
Évora is a city of an outstanding beauty, embraced by its fortress walls, filled with historic memories in each street, each home, each inhabitant.
The natural beauty of this region combines with the monumental richness of this town-museum that nowadays is also a modern city.
The archaeological landscape that surrounds the city presents important monuments, such as the Almendres' Cromlech and the Anta Grande do Zambujeiro.
Many were the ancient people that have been here, but the Romans were those who transformed Évora into an imperial town.
The historic centre of Évora, as a monumental ensemble of great historic and cultural value, was classified by UNESCO, in 1986, World Heritage.
