Ideally located, for a truly relaxing holiday, yet a short drive from either Malaga or Granada airport. Within easy reach of many beautiful beaches, traditional Spanish villages, authentic restaurants and shopping centres.
This luxurious villa with a separate one bedroomed apartment is set on 2 levels and fully air conditioned. The upper level, a 2 bedroom villa, sleeps 4 and includes master bedroom & en suite, second bedroom with 2 single beds and an additional bathroom with shower. A large lounge/diner and fully equipped kitchen with adjacent independent utility room. The master bedroom has patio doors that lead out to an extensive veranda fully furnished to relax and dine al fresco while admiring the stunning view. Steps from the veranda lead to a solarium/roof terrace and down to the 8x4 meter soft water system pool and pool bar. Below is an independent 1 bedroom apartment with en suite, open plan kitchenette/ lounge with additional double sofa bed and will sleep a maximum of 4. The entire property will accommodate up to 8 people.
The villa is located in the stunning Axarquia region of Andalucia, and overlooks Lake Vinuela and the magnificent mountain ranges of Sierra Tejada. Situated on a gentle hillside against a back drop of mountains, olive and almond trees, on the outskirts of the typically Spanish village of Los Romanes with its small supermarket stocking all the essentials, bars, restaurants, Hotel and olive mill.
A short 20 min drive takes you to the coast, a major shopping centre and the bustling Spanish seaside resort of Torre del Mar, known for its famous fish restaurants and tapas bars with its long promenade and sandy beach, perfect for walking and cycling or just watching the world go by!
Quite by accident when on holiday, my husband and I went to Lake Vinuela to visit some friends. As soon as we saw the lake for the first time we fell in love with the view and most of all the magnificent turquoise colour of the lake. We have never looked back. Despite the variety of site seeing locations on offer I must admit I find it very difficult to tear my husband away from the tranquillity, relaxing ambiance and incredible scenery on offer without having to leave the villa!
Karena Collins purchased this villa in 2005
Because this is a typical day in my life at Casa Costa Fortuna -
Wake up to the sound of birds singing and breakfast on the terrace whilst enjoying the stunning views. Take a leisurely walk in the local area before an invigorating swim in the softened water pool to thoroughly relax and cool down before catching a few morning rays! Enjoy relaxing in the mid afternoon sun on the private covered terrace for lunch accompanied by some of the many good Spanish wines followed by an afternoon siesta! Later relax by the pool to enjoy the late afternoon sun and then enjoy the pool bar facilities for 'sun downers' and watch the sun set whilst working up an appetite for dinner.
Alternatively, there are some fantastic typically Spanish bars and restaurants and small whitewashed mountain villages to explore all within close proximity.
Whether you are a young, middle aged or elderly couple that want to relax, or perhaps have a young family and would like to have your parents with you but want them to have their privacy and independence, or plan to spend some time with your friends. If you are all reasonably fit and able to walk up and down steps, this villa ticks all the boxes because you have two independent living areas in the same location sharing the private pool, pool bar and communal areas.
We cannot put into words how fabulous Casa Costa Fortuna is! The relaxed atmosphere and waking up to the stunning view each morning was exactly what we were looking for. Nicola was great with answering any questions and we were very grateful to Karena for our last minute booking. The villa met our every need and we are looking forward to visiting again.
Thanks for everything.
We stayed at this stunning villa for a week, but wished it as longer. Karena was very helpful from the beginning and in contact throughout. Nicky who met us and showed us around was lovely and very informative. The wine and essentials were lovely on arrival! The views from everywhere in this plush modern villa were outstanding! We could not find a fault with anything. Also the apartment below was wonderful. My Daughter and her Fiance came with us, so they had their own space also. We would also recommend the restaurant El Pantano. Which you can see from the villa. It seemed to get very busy at the weekend, so might be advisable to book. The Fillet Steak was absolutely delicious.
The Villa had everything you could possibly need and we would highly recommend it! Hopefully we will be able to visit again at some point.
An arrival in the dark meant that the jaw-dropping beauty of the view from the villa was not apparent until the morning...it is stunning and the colours of the lake and mountains change throughout the day according to the light. The villa is spacious, excellently equipped, spotlessly clean and has the advantage of an independent apartment for those wanting privacy or an early night! The veranda area provided a shaded and cool area throughout the day if required, while the pool and bar area has all day sun. An efficient BBQ and further eating area are sited to the back of the villa. We visited a pretty hill top town called Comares with outstanding views over the whole area, had a good meal and drinks at the nearby Los Orquideas Hotel, also with beautiful views and had an outstanding paella at Cantueso on the far side of the lake behind Periana. The owner of the villa,Karena, provided us with detailed instructions for our journey from the airport,as well as a comprehensive file of attractions and facilities locally. This was an extremely comfortable and relaxing week for all of the family and we will definitely return.
This listing is 100% accurate. The Owners have fitted out the villa to a very high standard. Every thing you are likely to need is provided, even your own poolside bar! This is a great place for touring or just somewhere to relax and chill out. During our stay we did plenty of both. Granada, Córdoba and Seville can be done in a day. Local bars and restaurants are excellent. All the basics are available at the local supermarket and large supermarkets and retail shopping is available just a 15 minute drive away.
The property was immaculate and the pool clean and well maintained. We traveled with our close friends and having both the villa and apartment under one roof was perfect for us allowing both families to have some privacy yet share all the facilities and essentially be together.
We rarely return to the same destination but on this occasion we may just have to!
Our family stayed in this wonderful villa for a week in September 15, we were blown away when we arrived at the views, the lake looks amazing, the pool is lovely, the children spent many hours playing in the sunshine.
The villa is equipped with everything we needed and was spotlessly clean.
There are some lovely restaurants nearby and the beach and water park is only a short distance.
The owners could not have been any more helpful and as a family we cannot wait to return to this wonderful villa.
In early August, we enjoyed the most amazing short break at this lovely villa. As a group of friends we were looking for a relaxing long weekend and didn’t want to venture to far. The villa was perfect. It was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, maintained to the highest of standards, and was spotlessly clean.
The pool area was spacious and had plenty of seating areas which enabled us to enjoy the most breath-taking view of the lake.
Wi-fi was quick and always available, something which has not always been the case in other villas we have stayed in.
Local restaurants serve high quality food, allowing you to sample the local cuisine. We particularly enjoyed the hotel in the local village. Both the food and service were superb, and like the villa provided the most wonderful panoramic view of the lake.
It was a pleasure dealing with Karena, the owner of the villa who ensured we had such a memorable visit. Without a doubt we will would recommend this villa and will most certainly be back. Thank you!
Karen & Friends
We had a wonderful stay at Karena’s villa!
The villa is situated in a quiet and peaceful complex with an outstanding view across the lake. It was the perfect location for a holiday to soak up some rays and get away from the hustle and bustle of London.
The weather was fantastic, sunny every day but with a lovely breeze.
The villa is immaculately clean both inside and out. The poolside area is particularly splendid with plenty of room to relax and have some space to yourself.
The photographs of the villa are accurate, if anything I would say it is better in real life! Everything was very clean and in good working order (showers, air con etc are in great working order).
Karena was a wonderful host, incredibly organised and very quick and replying to any queries that we had. Karena was also able to offer some great recommendations of things to do, restaurants etc in the local area.
I would highly recommend this villa to anyone who is looking for a relaxing get-away in the sunshine!
The Villa has magnificent views across Lake Vinuela to some of the white washed villages including Periana & Alcaucin. There are many bars & restaurants within a short drive around the lake. There are several tracks for good local walking, with nature and bird watching on the doorstep. For the golf enthusiasts there are several golf courses available the nearest being Baviera golf only 20 minutes away.
For those more experienced mountain climbing and hiking enthusiasts, La Maroma, also known as Tejeda, at an altitude of 2066 m, is the highest peak of the Sierra de Tejeda, Penibaetic System, Spain. The summit located in the region of Axarquía on the border of the provinces of Granada and Málaga located only 18 kilometres away by road.
The popular resort of Nerja and its Caves, definitely worth a visit, only 30 minutes away.
The coastal beaches of the Costa del Sol stretch for 30 kilometres. Torre del Mar, Torrox & Nerja have long sandy beaches. Closer to Nerja and at Maro the cliffs form small coves.
While exploring the coastal villages you can combine sunbathing and swimming with an appetiser and the good local wine in the popular 'chiringuitos', as the beach restaurants are called here. They are right on the beach, almost at the water’s edge.
For those who would like a day out closer to home, why not spend the day visiting and exploring the old town of Malaga, home of Picasso and a museum dedicated to him, full of character and steeped in history. A fabulous port with a magnificent marina, full of restaurants and interesting shops, offering multinational cuisine catering for the cruise ships passengers that frequent the busy port.
For those who would like to explore the hustle and bustle of the cosmopolitan port, Puerto Banus and Marbella, again this can be achieved and are both very accessible by car, bus and or train for a day's excursion.
Further afield, Granada and the Alhambra Palace also highly recommended. Seville, Cordoba, Gibraltar and of course in the winter for skiing the Sierra Nevada is within easy reach by car.
There is a water park 15 minutes away at Torre Del Mar and there are further water parks and theme parks near Malaga.
Shopping - there are a variety of small shops, delicatessens, bakeries and a very good butcher in the local area. Large shopping centres are located at Velez Malaga/Torre del Mar and Rincon de la Victoria with a variety of large supermarkets and designer label retail shops. The towns of Torre del Mar and Velez Malaga have many good shops. Nerja is also a haven for the shopping enthusiasts among us!
Markets - there are several local markets in the surrounding towns and villages all of which have their allocated days. Some specialise in food, selling the local fresh produce, fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices. Others sell a lot of the local crafts 'artesania' including clothes, handmade leather goods, pottery, ceramics and jewellery. Full details of location, days and times are available in the information folder located in the villa for your perusal.
