My name is Janni and I am a 29 year old woman from Sweden. I moved to Cape Town five years ago to do Swedish costumer Service for a company here, where I still work. In March 2014 we (me and my mum) bought this house and started the renovations. A few months later it was all done. Anne lives in Malmö, Sweden but visit me every year in January/February I love baking and working in the garden, these are my passions! Be prepared to eat a lot of cakes...

Why Owner chose Table View
We looked for a house and area for a long time, but fell in love with this house as soon as we saw it! It is truly a special house and we knew it would be perfect after renovations and some new furnitures. I love my house, garden and the area which it is situated. I spend a lot of time in the back garden, where I grow herbs and flowers.

Perfect for families
We had a lovely stay at Janni's place. The two bedrooms were spacious and nice and the kitchen a little small but social. We missed a little having a dishwasher, but on the other hand it wasn't that hard to to the dishes when on holiday. The garden was absolutely lovely and so was the swimming pool, we spent a lot of time there enjoying ourselves :) The host Janni was very kind and helpful, gave us a lot of tips of restaurants and so on. We were there with two infants and Janni arranged with baby cots and high chair without any problems, very appreciated. The only minus was that it wasn't spotless cleaned especially in the bathrooms when we arrived, otherwise everything was very nice. So, overall a great stay, we would absolutely recommend it and if coming back to Cape Town we would love to live there again!
A smart property, close to many amenities
We found the house in Table View very clean and tidy, furniture was good and the general situation excellent, with wonderful views of Table Mountain from the upstairs balcony and close to many useful amenities. On arrival we were met by the parents of our host who were extremely helpful in dealing with our cases and showing us around.
It is I believe fair to say that in reading the description of the property one gets the impression that renters have a free run of the guest house and its amenities. The following is the wording in the description:-
When we have guests here, they are the one in charge and we will adapt yourself according to them. For example: If they do not want the dogs in the garden, we will keep them in the back garden
Most of the time we are in the back garden, but sometimes we will take a swim or have dinner in the front garden (pool area). Your will have the garden and pool mostly to yourself.
This is not entirely accurate as we soon discovered. Janni’s parents, from Sweden, and other family members were also staying at the main house and naturally for them using the pool area and outside dining area, the element of privacy was absent. Whilst in the description it outlines that the paying guest is in charge. it is very difficult if not impossible to ask/demand family to confine themselves to the main house, leaving guests the run of the outside facilities.
The above comments are in no way a criticism of our hosts who made every effort to be so helpful and friendly but I believe the situation should be clarified in order for other potential renters to fully understand what is on offer at this property.
