About this property

as low as 199.00...Per night, Sleeps up to 35 Rates good until 3/31/24.

Welcome to our authentic log cabin. We are proud to offer a very clean and well equipped cabin for our guests. The cabin was built with logs that had been harvested from the property. The private road brings you through our gate, to the large open areas around the lodge. There has been a couple of folks complain about the driveway. I wanted to leave you his quote and tell you what the pastor said. after checkout. This church group comes twice a year with their groups. The pastor of the church wrote.................... "Communication with the owners, was well above average. We had no problems, with the driveway as usual, as we just drove slow, during that last one hundred feet We have already booked two seperate dates again , for this winter."

There is plenty of parking for up to 10 cars. The kids can explore our property, climb on the play structure or huge assortment of LARGE boulders. They can be climbed or jumped between. We highly recommend, visiting the baby deer sanctuary. It is just a short 10 minute walk from our cabin. The caretakers are always happy to let you interact with the deer or raccoons in their natural setting. Sometimes the deer wander up to our cabin for a visit. Many of the guests have said, their visit to the deer sanctuary, was an unbelievable visit. The South Toe River which is about a mile away, as the crow flies, or about 10 minutes in the car. It is a gentle river perfect for fishing, tubing, or a peaceful rafting trip for as long as you would like. There are many grassy places to pull ashore if anyone gets tired. The cell service is pretty good through most of that area of the river. That makes it easy to have someone pick you up when you have had a full day. I have been told by the "locals" that the river can be taken all the way into South East TN. after joining with the Nolichuckey River.

Some of our guests have decided to bring their own RV for additional sleeping purposes. We are always flexible and strive to make your event, exactly what you have planned. We understand the tremendous amount of planning, that goes into getting everyone's schedule in sync. Coordinating the dates, location and pricing for 50 to 60 groups a YEAR. WE ENJOY SPEAKING WITH EACH LEADER, RESPONSIBLE FOR ORGANIZING. WE HAVE FOUND THAT ABOUT 85% OF OUR BOOKINGS ARE FOR FAMILY REUNIONS OR RETREATS OF SOME TYPE. WE OFFER DISCOUNTS FOR OUR ACTIVE OR RETIRED MILITARY, AS WELL AS ANY CHURCH AFFILIATED GROUPS. MANY OF OUR GROUPS RETURN YEAR AFTER YEAR FOR THEIR TIME TOGETHER. WE ARE HAPPY TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS THAT WILL MAKE YOUR EVENT, EXCEED YOUR EXPECTATIONS. WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO HELP EACH GROUP PERSONALIZE THEIR STAY WITH US. (TALK TO US ABOUT YOUR BUDGET) We do not like to turn anyone away, especially a church group, because of a tight budget. Email us and we are happy to work with you.

There is a very large surrounding property. It is a great boundary that does not allow folks to be close to our cabin. You have to go and stand at the edge of our property, in order to see another cabin from our place.

Enjoy the spaciousness of this 4500 square foot, 8 bedroom, 7 bath cabin that was recently remodeled. The lodge’s interior features huge, vaulted, log beam ceilings. The Lodge was professionally decorated, in a 'Mountain Lodge' and 'Americana' theme. There are many antiques and era replica pieces. Relax in an authentic log cabin, that was custom built with timbers harvested from this homestead property. The lodge has a rustic atmosphere, but includes all the modern conveniences and amenities you would expect in a new custom home. We do our best to keep the lodge dust free and disinfect everything before a new group arrives.

Three of the eight bedrooms are Master suites, with their own private master baths. They all have a jetted Jacuzzi tub and over sized tile showers. Five of the seven other bedrooms, have a full bathroom with custom tile showers located adjacent to them. All of the bedrooms have authentic log beds including 1 king, 6 queens 1 double , 3 convertible sofas, 4 twin beds. We also have 7 twin mattresses with linens that can be moved from room to room as needed. We recently added 2 additional roll-w-way twin beds and a queen size air mattress. That mattress is about 18" tall. It is extremly comfortable and has a built in air inflator. You can also move them were ever you would like. We also have very high quality bed linens and towels, that are provided and are unique to each room.

The main living room with it’s twenty foot tall, log beam ceiling is completely furnished with overstuffed leather sofas and chairs. There is also satellite TV with a DVD/VCR player and a new 50 inch monitor. This level also includes a huge fully furnished kitchen with service to accommodate your very large group. The kitchen is big and roomy, large enough for many cooks to work in at once. A glass top stove, microwave, dishwasher and two refrigerators with ice makers will provide the necessary means to handle your large group. The main dining table, crafted of timbers cut on the property, seats 26 comfortably. A separate dining table is adjacent to the big table. It seats an additional six.

The downstairs great room features a 50 inch flat screen monitor with SATELLITE, DVD/VCR player and a surround sound audio system. This spacious room is decorated in a mountain theme and has all leather overstuffed sofas , chairs and ottomans. You may just want to sit on the raised brick hearth and enjoy the heat from the stove while watching a movie or reading a book. There is a wet bar with a small refrigerator as well as a custom pool table. This level also includes the bunk house room, with two sets of twin bunk beds. A full bathroom and separate laundry room with washer, dryer and ground level entrance round out this floor.

The lodge also includes four additional TV’s with separate cable receivers and a wireless internet network to meet your needs.

Outdoors is the covered hot tub, that easily accommodates up to eight. The large covered deck has six large wooden rocking chairs, and a gas bar-b-cue. There is also a picnic table, for outdoor dining. For those of you that love just sitting around a fire we have an old fashioned wood burning fire pit. It is complete with seating for ten. From the fire pit you have a great view, that over looks the mountain ranges. There is also a large wooden play set for the kids entertainment as well as huge boulders for the kids who love to climb and explore. We are 15 mins to town, but remote enough to enjoy the densely wooded outdoors. (There are guide books @ the cabin with numerous additional area trails and waterfalls to visit and hike)

Centrally located approx 30 to 40 minutes to Asheville, Spruce Pines, or skiing at Mt Mitchell or Wolf Laurel. Horseback riding, rafting, tubing or mountain bike riding, golf, hiking, are all in the area. Save some money and bring your own tube. It is about forty five minutes to Linville Caverns, Little Switzerland, Biltmore Estate, Grandfather Mountain, Blue Ridge Parkway and many other attractions. There are many books and magazines at the cabin, that list many site activities like rafting, horseback riding, waterfalls, hiking trails. There is usually something to do for all ages.

Family reunion
Great space for a large group that wants to spend time together but have their own bedroom. We spent most of our time in the kitchen and sitting at the huge table. We enjoyed the bonfire and hot tub each night under the stars. Bill and Cindy were quick to communicate. The code did not work to access the house when we first arrived but they corrected it immediately. It is handicap friendly although there is an awkward step and slight turn from kitchen to living area that we just needed guys to pick up grandmas wheelchair. We were really grateful for the time and space. Excellent experience - thank you so much!

Experience was not so great
First off, we had an issue with the second portion of our deposit coming out of my account 5 days early. On the way to the cabin, the owner emailed us the entire time traveling there indicating the driveway was bumpy due to the previous group spinning tires. We arrived to the cabin and it took is nearly an hour to get 6 vehicles up the cabin. We called the owner, he pretended that this had never been an issue, apologized, and promised us lunch that we never received. We had to call him the next day to see when the guy would come out to fix the driveway issue. He explained that the guy would be out that evening. Five minutes later, some showed up with a small tractor and pretty much made the situation worse. The owner claimed he's never heard anyone not being to get up the driveway. After reading the details if the cabin a few hours later, it stated that he receives calls at least twice a year for people not being able to get up the driveway. We were basically trapped in the cabin for fear of not being able to get back to the driveway. We never received another call, email, or anything the rest of our stay. The cabin was nice size, but we were choked out from the smell of the kerosene. We were never offered part of our money back or anything. I am very displeased about my stay here, and will not recommend it to anyone, especially if they don't have a 4 wheel drive. I feel we should at least receive the refundable yeah deposit back, and also a portion of the fee for staying, but I haven't heard anything from the unconcerned owner.

Cozy rustic getaway
Cozy cabin getaway with plenty of room and lots of activities onsite. Equipped with a full basement including a pool table which was fun. The hot tub is a nice added feature and large outdoor “play” area with cornhole boards included. The kitchen seats lots of people at one table which is a plus. Lots of fun close by if you want to venture off. Driveway is a challenge if you are driving a small car. Best way to do it is in reverse and backing up the hill.

Cindy and I met at our church youth group, in 1974. We were married in Long Beach, CA. in 1976. Cindy retired from the school district and I retired from law enforcement in 2003. We raised our first four children, in a very rural area of Northern California. Our entire "clan" of six families, moved together in June of 2004 to Tennessee. We were fortunate to have our married children, spouses, as well as our 14 grand children and three great grand children living just a few miles away. Since moving to Tennessee, we have adopted and raised six additional children in the last eleven years. Most of our adult children, live in the greater Greeneville area. Several other relatives, families and friends, have made the move to Tennessee in the years that followed. It has been a wonderful, rural area to watch the grand kids growing up. They now range in ages from 26 yrs to 1 year.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this large home on our first visit, and were the new owners, just 6 days later. The three story Lodge originally was a 10 bedroom. We were amazed with the enormous logs. All of them had been harvested from the property itself. We created 3 master suites causing the reduction in the number of bedrooms. With our immediate. family hovering at about 35, this cabin was just ideal for us. There are four large separate gathering areas. After a few years of owning the cabin we decided to try renting it. It was a great success. We have enjoyed making many new friends in the last 17 years. About 70% of our guests come as part of a family gathering., while the remainder typically consist of church or business retreats.

WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO WORK WITH ANY GROUPS BUDGET. IN ALL THE YEARS WE HAVE RENTED THE LODGE...WE HAVE ONLY HAD ONE GROUP THAT WE COULD NOT ACCOMMODATE THEIR BUDGET. PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT US WITH YOUR BUDGET LIMITS. WE ARE ALWAYS HAPPY TO TRY!!

What makes this property unique

We receive comments each week from guests about the many features of the Lodge they loved. The ability to seat your entire group together at meal time, is always one of the favorite features at the cabin. The three Master Suites with their own private bathrooms are a great bonus. The availability of the ample supply of other bathrooms makes waiting in line no problem at the Lodge. With end of the road privacy and plenty of room outdoors, there is NEVER a feeling of being crowded. We have had as many as 52 folks stay at the cabin at one time. We have also had plenty of room for several vehicles as well as your fifth wheel, motor home, or church bus. The entire Lodge was gutted and completely remodeled in recent years. It has all been DECORATED with an Americana/Country theme.

THERE ARE OTHER CABINS, SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE AREA. YOU CANNOT SEE ANY OF THEM FROM OUR PORCHES, DECKS. OR FROM THE INSIDE OF OUR CABIN. MOST OF THESE CABINS ARE USED AS A WEEKEND Getaway for the owners. I RECENTLY MET ONE OF MY NEIGHBORS, AFTER 15 YRS OF OWNING THE CABIN. YOU ARE ALONE, BUT ONLY ABOUT 8 TO 10 MINUTES FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.

I hope this gives you a better picture of the lodge.
