This luxury apartment is situated on the 1st. floor of an 18th. century palace

Number 43 is our stylish, contemporary, luminous apartment on the first floor of a 19th century palace, accessed through a classical central courtyard. The building, in the heart of the historical part of Jerez, is situated on the same street as the famed flamenco museum. All the sights, Bodegas, Peña flamenco and shops, including the wonderful food market, are just a few minutes stroll away.

We 're well connected by train to visit Seville + Cadiz or arrive from Madrid. Jerez airport is 20 mins. drive, Gibraltar and Seville are about 80 mins. drive. We can organise for you to be collected at any of the 3 airports, please ask for the fee.

Of course any of the airports mentioned also have excellent ten a car facilities.

Our 100m2 apartment is peaceful and sunny, away from the street, facing south-west with views across the old town and to the vineyards beyond. This loft-style conversion makes full use of it’s 5 meter high ceilings resulting in a beautifully spacious apartment with an abundance of light.

The building also houses the famed flamenco tapas bar "El Arriate" with a friendly atmosphere and delicious food.

We also include in the price our parking space in an underground garage across the road, very important in the old town!

The en-suite upper bedroom with king sized bed can also be made up as two singles if required. the en-suite bathroom is "petite" but cute with a Hydro-Shower, a sink and toilet. The downstairs bedroom makes use of the beautiful Philipe Stark equipped bathroom with its large bathtub (shower-over) sink and toilet.

There is an option for a cot to be placed in the downstairs bedrooms. Babies are welcome, toddlers are at risk with the open plan staircase, hence we prefer children over the ages of 10.

The living/dining area is luminous and spacious with comfortable leather settees. The Smart TV offers Spanish TV with all films/documentaries in original language, Netflix and I-player with most UK channels. Apple TV &can also be used to connect to your mobile devices. Bose speakers connect via bluetooth to your phone, iPad or computer, for you to enjoy your own music and feel completely at home!

The German fitted kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything you could need to make best use of the delicious local produce. Efficient air conditioning keeps the apartment cool in Summer and warm in Winter.

We offer all spices, coffee and tea and other dry foods in the kitchen. This allows for easy living/dining, we're so close to that wonderful vegetable/fish market.

About Jim & Alice

We've been living in the hinterland of the Costa del Sol for the past 12 years and wanted a 'pied á terre' in this lovely city. A great way to relax away from the demands of a 'country estate'.

Why Jim & Alice chose Jerez

We bought the space, a former ballroom, then a costume workshop, part of the small design school still located in the building. The space and light sold us the place on the spot, we saw the possibilities to turn it to our dream apartment.

What makes this apartment unique

Space, light, peace, comfort and masses of sunshine, surrounded by great restaurants, plazas, shops and churches and other fantastic historical buildings, Palaces and much more...... all within all 5-10 mins. walk in the pedestrian part of the old city.

A past visitor's review with 2 teenage daughters: "What a fabulous surprise Jerez has been. We really didn't know what to expect and have enjoyed it hugely. The wonderful cobbled streets a joy to walk around, great visits to the Hammam, Alcazar and the Cathedral. Lovely bar on the doorstep, great food, especially "Albores" & "las Cuadras".

Within a max. 10 mins. walk there are also many bodegas, clubs, music bars and Tabernas with plenty of flamenco.

If you feel like exploring further by car our favored beaches are less than 30 mins. away. You'll be able to explore the quintessential Andalucia, with hill-top fortified towns, villages, and beach-resorts.

Lovely apartment in central Jerez

Beautiful and well equipped (and spotlessly clean) apartment. Minutes away from bars and good restaurants but also quiet and secluded. Really could not fault it in any way. A perfect location for exploring this delightful city. Would definitely book again.

Spacious apartment with a perfect location

My girlfriend and I spent one whole week at this apartment and hat a very relaxing time.

The upsides:

- The apartment is very spacious.

- It is perfectly located; you can explore the old town-centre by foot. Several points of interest, like sherry-bodegas, and countless cafes and restaurants lie within a 10 min walking distance.

- The parking garage is just across the street. It is a bit narrow but sufficient for a small car.

- The kitchen is roomy as well and more importantly, it is fully equipped. There is everything from pots and pans to dishes to salt, sugar, spices, tea, coffee and even a moka-pot.

The downsides:

- There is only a limited supply of hot water. We had to hurry during showering (in sequence) in order not to run out of hot water. There is also not enough of it to fill the large and luxurious bathtub.

- You might have trouble sleeping past the early morning if you are used to sleeping in total darkness, for the curtains in the bedroom are rather thin.

All in all, this apartment is a great place to stay at with minor issues diminishing the overall comfort.

Fantastic appartment in the centre of Jerez

Lovely apartment - both beautifully designed and very well equipped. The owners have clearly thought what visitors will want and provided it! From good bluetooth enabled stereo, wifi to every kitchen implement you could possibly think of.

Jerez is a great place to say - from the sherry bodegas, to great bars and restaurants and fantastic covered market with more fresh fish stalls than you can count. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the apartment or city to anyone

The market and the great restaurants are always a treat. Jerez is full of surprises, be it spontaneous song/dance or a open-air concert. There are so many festivals too! Nada que objetar. Todo estaba perfectamente ordenado y limpio. El apartamento es grande y comodo y su situación es muy buena, recomendable tambien el bar que hay en el bajo. El garaje tiene la plaza de parking mas cómoda y fácil. Y esta tan solo a 20 metros del apartamento. Renate

Jerez is a quintessential, traditional Spanish town, steeped in history and almost undiscovered by the hoards that visit its better known neighbours such as Sevilla and Cádiz.

World famous for its wine industry, this ancient walled city has prospered thanks to the sherry that has been produces here for centuries. The town’s many sherry bodegas still offer wine tastings, tours and entertainment. Jerez provides some stunning architecture with its wide array of historical churches and magnificent palaces, many of which have been beautifully restored.

Jerez is also known as the ‘cradle of flamenco’ because many of the most famous flamenco performers were born here. The areas of Santiago and San Miguel, each within a few minutes walk of the apartment, are the origin of some of the greatest figures in the world of flamenco, and where the purest flamenco can be found. Jerez offers more than a dozen “Peñas Flamencas” (flamenco clubs) for live music, and the “Centro Andaluz de Flamenco” is on the same street as the apartment.

The Jerez festive calendar starts the flamenco festival: one of the most important in the world, with two weeks of phenomenal music and dance from internationally renowned performers.

A number of squares, each with its own distinct character, are dotted around the old town. Most are pedestrianised and offer small bars and al fresco dining.

The market is a hive of activity every morning with a wide variety of foods fresh from the surrounding farms and the nearby Atlantic

“Feria del Caballo” is the famous annual Horse Fair at the beginning of May when visitors from all over the world flock to this prestigious yearly event. The fair has various shows and competitions with prizes that take place in key picturesque locations throughout the town.

The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art is famous for its dancing horse shows, typical of Jerez, where the Andalusian thoroughbreds are trained to perform high precision ballet “dances” to music.

Semana Santa, the holy week is a full week of festivities, with procession all day and night, the passing of icons of the Nazarenes and the sacred songs sung passionately in the flamenco style.

Jerez is also home to the Formula 1 motorcycle grand prix held in May in which the whole city is over-run by motorcycle enthusiasts.

In September there is the Vendimia (Wine Harvest Festival), in which wine has the leading role. At the same time is the Fiesta de Buleria, a festival of Jerez de la Frontera music and dance.

The Atlantic coast beaches are 15 mins. drive away, with fine white sands clean waters.  Amongst the beaches within easy reach are El Puerto de Santa Maria, Sancti Petri, Chipiona, Conil, Zahara de los Atunes and many more smaller ones. Tarifa, famous for it’s wind surfing, is one hours drive.

In addition, in each direction from the outskirts of Jerez, there are small villages and towns,

typical of the traditional image of Spain including the famed white towns and villages (pueblos blancos),

sheltering from the hot sun amid a landscape of rugged mountains. Some of the best include Vejer,

Medina Sedonia, Arcos, Grazalema and Zahara de la Sierra

There are plenty of opportunities for golfers in the area including the beautiful Jack Nicklaus designed course at Montecastillo, the Jerez Club de Golf, the 18 hole championship course of Sherry Golf Jerez, the Costa Ballena golf club stunningly situated on the Atlantic coast nearby, and the Magnificent Montemedio golf a short drive away near Vejer de la Frontera.

Gibraltar and Seville are equidistant at just over one hour's drive. I am told that there is a excellent new service to Gibraltar from Bristol. For overseas visitors flying into Madrid, there is the option of a connecting flight, or the train. Alternatively you may want to rent a car. We have further info on all possible ways of getting here, best car rental, train schedules, pick-up service and/or more.
