Note - Susurro is available for short term rental through the morning of October 29, 2016.
We have recently updated Susurro by adding on site laundry facilities, new refrigerator with ice maker, freshly painted bedrooms, new light fixtures, freshly sealed colorful kitchen floor and more. We think you will appreciate the improvements, making your stay more comfortable and convenient.
Welcome to Boulder, Colorado...everything you want from a big city, yet it feels like a small town; world-class restaurants and shops, a major university, an abundance of cultural events, a plethora of year-round outdoor activities and lots of music from around the globe.
Minutes from downtown Boulder, walking distance to excellent coffee and tea houses, restaurants, bakery, shopping, well equipped grocery store, trails and more. Our artist’s home is located within a quiet, historic residential district known as Mapleton Hill. 'Susurro' - our sunny and light, very private garden/walk-out apartment has a separate entrance and is part of our recently eco-remodeled home originally built in 1910. Our 750 sq. ft. apartment is colorful, eclectically furnished, with hot water baseboard heating, all domestic water filtered, cork floors, lots of light, antique cooking stove, custom trim, open layout, split level (with two steps) - living room/dining room/kitchen, hand painted floor, and mosaic tiled bathroom floor. Our home is a “come and borrow a cup of organic sugar” kind of home. Please note - Susurro is exceptionally well insulated however, we live upstairs, we are very quiet and we do not wear shoes inside our home. If you need total silence please reconsider - you will hear soft footsteps but never voices and in eight years we have had only two complaints.
'Susurro' is two blocks away from the foothills of the Rockies with great hiking trails, and the continental divide only a thirty-minute drive away. We are a 30 minute drive to Denver; 30 minute drive to Eldora Mountain Resort, 60 minute drive to Rocky Mountain National Park, and a 1.5 to 2.25 hour drive to Loveland, Winter Park, Breckenridge and Vail ski areas.
Boulder has year-round sunshine. The winter season usually brings brief snow storms followed by beautiful sunny days. It's not uncommon to have warm weather in the high 60s-70s in February and March. Late spring and summer offers warm days, wonderful thunderstorms and few airborne pests. Falls are warm with cool nights and some of the most amazing displays of light and color.
Well cared for and behaved dogs are welcome.
Inspections and Safety:
There have been legitimate concerns raised in the national and international media about the safety and lack of regulation of short-term rentals. Rest assured that:
Susurro is up to date in all required inspections (per City of Boulder rental license regulations);
has a current rental license (see: http://gisweb.bouldercolorado.gov/agswebsites/pds/rentalinquiry/ - any property with a color-coding has an up to date rental license);
has commercial property insurance from CBIZ that covers short-term rentals;
and Susurro includes functioning carbon monoxide and smoke detectors as well as fire extinguishers.
In addition, each bedroom has City of Boulder approved egress windows and two door exits, in the unlikely event of a fire.
Your safety is important to us.

I am from Medellin, Colombia and am an artist and psychotherapist. I consider Susurro to be an ongoing art Installation as well as the rest of the 'orange house'. Susurro means 'to murmer' in Spanish. It is a custom from Colombia to name your home - hence Susurro. My partner is a bodyworker, 'artist's slave' and musician - playing the mbira (thumb piano) from Zimbabwe.
We have two daughters - both graduated from college and making decisions about graduate school - which makes us old (they think), young (we know)...
We purchased Susurro with the intent of remodeling it - but ended up completely rebuilding it from the foundation up. We were the architects, draftspeople, general contractor, electrician, plumber, interior designer, painters, etc - you get the drift and we are still married - happily.
We have totally enjoyed living here and meeting all the interesting people who have stayed here from different parts of the world.
Bruce Poulter purchased this house in 2004
Boulder is a beautiful city with incredible outdoor activities and cultural events. We chose this neighborhood due to its proximity and convenience to both downtown Boulder and mountain trails. We live in the 'orange house' on the property because we think this is the best neighborhood in Boulder. That being said we are available anytime while simultaneously guaranteeing your privacy.
We feel incredibly privileged to live in this house and be able to ride our bikes, walk to nearby trails and cafes and enjoy the many and varied events and activities that Boulder offers. We love the sunshine that abounds in Colorado. Susurro is quiet, private and simultaneously centrally located. We invite you to experience the beauty and comfort first-hand! We speak English and Spanish.
We very much enjoyed your "artist" apartment. Hopefully the baby did not disturb you.
Have a great spring!
I rented this apartment with a couple friends for a girls' weekend in Boulder. The apartment was great. Colorful, clean, and comfortable. An easy walk to downtown. And dealing with the owner was always smooth and efficient. I would highly reccomend this rental.
We had everything we needed. We really enjoyed the cozy, well-appointed space. It was really fun to imagine the love that went into building this place. It was also delightfully close to downtown and everything else we know and love about Boulder. Thank you to the hosts for putting this together and we hope to return soon (we visit Boulder every year or two).
Had a wonderful few days in Boulder. What a great home! Everything was clean, beds comfortable. Love the unique, artistic design and the feel of the home. Perfect location to Pearl St., coffee shops and mountain trails.
We had a lovely time and would love to stay again.
Stayed here due to lack of hotel space and was very happy with th whole experience
Only criticism would be have a wonderful corkscrew as part of the silverware 😊
The apartment is small, but the space works well. As other reviews say, it's a good place.

Please note - The City of Boulder is in the process of updating their zoning regulations and there is a high probability they will add an accommodation tax (currently 12.485%) to all rentals of less than 30 days. Should these new regulations be supported by Boulder voters, your quoted rental rate may increase based on how these new taxes are phased in. This will apply to all short term rentals (less than 30 days) in the City of Boulder proper.
CANCELLATIONS - A sixty (60) day notice is required for cancellation. When we can replace a canceled reservation without the 60 day notice payments may be returned at the owners discretion.
CHECK OUT TIME - is 11 AM on the day of your departure. For every 30 minutes after 11 AM that you prevent Maria from cleaning there will be a $15 charge withheld from your security deposit. Let's help Maria get her work done on time - thank you.
