Apartment “Montebello” is located in the hearth of Florence and it is located one of the most silent and peaceful city-centre streets, Via Montebello. The apartment's neighborhood was called “Ognissanti” thanks to the presence of the florentine-baroque Church “Ognissanti”. From 1865 to 1871 Florence was the capital of the recently enstablished Kingdom of Italy, so that many palaces in the Ognissanti neighborhood (including that of Montebello Apartment) were built in order to host the members of the Government and their families. The area is plenty of typical italian craftsmen's bottegas, medieval churches, osterias, trattorias and outstanding italian restaurants. The famous Lungarni are just around the corner and the Duomo is just a five minutes walk from Montebello Apartment, Palazzo Vecchio – 10 minutes, Ponte Vecchio – 7 minutes, Palazzo Pitti – 15 minutes and the Uffizzi Museum – 8 minutes, Santa Maria Novella station- 5 minutes.
Just next to the apartment's palace is situated the bus stop of the Florence Site-seeing red buses and others. Nearby the Montebello street there are two supermarkets, some bakeries and delicious pastry shops.
Hello! My name is Lucia and I am the owner of the apartment La Casina. I also run other apartments in Florence and I am happy to do my best to offer a selection of great apartments to my guests to make the is stay unforgettable !!!
Ms. Lucia purchased this apartment in 2010
The location is convenient to the Ufizzi and Duomo, etc yet is a relatively quiet location a half-block from the Arno. Past two sets of big front doors, a small elevator took us to the 4th floor and another flight walking up brought us to a charming apartment with a pleasant bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. I loved the views from the patio/deck (another flight up). On arrival we were met by Lucia who was professional, pleasant, indeed very helpful. She explained procedures and made a great restaurant suggestion. I didn't feel a need to ask about HVAC - I could see prominent radiators and wall air conditioners. We were quite comfortable until late the third day when we sought trigger the radiators but could find no thermostat. I called Lucia and she promptly appeared to remove the November chill. We passed our local church several times and only stepped in because we had "time to kill" between our exit and the taxi ride to the airport. I strongly encourage a visit to the nearby Chiesa Ognissanti and its cloisters, and behold paintings by Giotto, Ghirlandaio and Botticelli, (who is buried there). I believe Amerigo Vespucci is as well. Three days were a mere introduction to Florence with no chance to explore greater Tuscany. When we return, I hope to again stay at Lucia's, 7 Via Montebello.
I have now stayed at maybe 25 apartments through HomeAway, & have become pretty choosy as to what I'm looking for.
This has it all, and I really do mean that. It is sheer perfection.
To begin with it is in a great spot. Everything is reachable on foot, and there are cafes, shops & a supermarket less than 200m away.
The Uffizi, Palazzo Strozzi, Ponte Vecchio, etc, are a 10 minute stroll away.
It's also a great location for a runner like me and Lucia was kind to suggest an excellent route around and up to Piazzole Michelangelo for stunning city views. I can also recommend a steep but rewarding 15km return run to Fiesole in the hills to the north.
The appartment itself is simply beautiful. The main bedroom & sitting room are comfortable & relaxing. The kitchen is excellent, and well equipped, and there is even a lift for all but one flight of stairs- a true rarity!
However, the highlight must be the terrace. Dawn breakfasts, and dusk drinks are a must even in late October. The view is unsurpassed in anywhere I have ever stayed.
Add to this how helpful, kind & easy to communicate with Lucia has been, and this has been one of the 2 or 3 best places I have ever stayed.
I am loathe to review so positively, since I always suspect that it can't really be that good.
This truly is. Please don't book it all up too far in advance- I want to come back!
This apartment is in an excellent location, five minutes walking from the train station, no more than a ten minute walk to the Duomo and just a minute from a bridge which will take you over the Arno to the quieter Oltrarno. The apartment is nicely appointed and the owner is a delight to work with. And as everyone has noted, the rooftop terrace offers wonderful views of the city, especially at night. You will love this apartment.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, clean, and updated apartment in the heart of a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to all that Florence has to offer. The rooftop private deck was an added bonus with spectacular views of the entire city! Ms. Lucia was a gracious hostess, and takes great pride in all details related to her apartment - thank you!
The apartment is both very clean and modern as well as being stylishly furnished with some interesting and elegant traditional furnishings. The location is excellent as it is not only within easy walking distance of all the main sites of Florence but also quiet and secure. The private roof terrace has stunning views of the city and the surrounding countryside. Lucia was most friendly, helpful and informative throughout our stay. We hope to return soon to both Florence and the apartment which we would recommend. Thank you Lucia!
The apartment is located in the neighborhood of Santa Maria Novella, the one where the central train station is. You can have some rest from the trip sitting in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, then visit the basilica and walk a bit along the characteristic streets nearby. If you walk up to via della Scala take a look to the historical pharmacy, the oldest in Europe. The Pharmacy of Santa Maria Novella is not an ordinary pharmacy: enter here will be like entering a museum.
If you like walking around you should visit the maghificence of the Ognissanti Church, at only two minutes form the apartment.
You can see the Last Supper made by Domenico Ghirlandaio and the Crucifix by Giotto. Many handcrafts shops, restaurants, typical trattorias offers you a big opportunity to choose what you like more.
