No matter what the occasion, whether serious fishing expeditions, family fishing or snow skiing vacations, golf outings; family reunions; university events; or corporate and private retreats, this home is ideal. We're on-the-water so you can fish right out the back door. You can also launch your own kayaks or tubes on-site as well.

We're located just 3 minutes from the town of Gunnison and the Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport. Just a few miles downstream the Gunnison River flows into Colorado’s largest body of water, known as Blue Mesa Reservoir where sight seeing, boating, sailing, and fishing abound. If you’re inclined for a game of golf you’ll be excited to know that we're actually surrounded by the Dos Rios golf course where the public is welcome.

Fishing – ESPN recently ranked the Gunnison River as 'the best overall freestone trout river in America'. The famous blue ribbon waters of the Gunnison River offer trophy Brown, Rainbow, and Cutthroat trout literally within 50 feet of the house. Within 30 minutes drive you can also be on the Taylor River, East River, Spring Creek, Lake Fork of the Gunnison, or Blue Mesa Reservoir. The possibilities are simply endless. Also, if you happen to stay with us in the September-November timeframe you can catch the Kokanee salmon in the river as they make their way upstream to the Roaring Judy hatchery. Picture yourself spending a day from dawn to dusk with great fishing, rafting, kayaking, hiking, skiing, exploring abandoned goldmines, or just relaxing on the deck and listening to the river.

Skiing – Just a short 30 minutes away is the picturesque town and resort of Crested Butte. Crested Butte features some of the finest snow skiing and snowboarding in the country. Crested Butte is not only known as the 'Last Great Colorado Ski Town' it offers an amazing shopping experience with its prominent Victorian architecture within the ever popular Crested Butte's national historic district. You'll pay a fraction of the cost with us, versus lodging in Crested Butte. In fact, this home would cost upwards of $800/night in Crested Butte.

Hiking and Biking Adventures - The Hartman Rocks, visible from the front yard, provides a high-desert (8,000 ft above sea level) riding/hiking adventure over a 6,000 acre basin. Diverse options include both miles of smooth, sage-lined single track to concentrated slick-rock technical sections. Trails are for bikers, runners, hikers and there are climbing/bouldering areas as well.

Perfect Gunnison home complete with Gunnison River in backyard

  • 5 of 5

I knew as soon as I saw the online pictures that it was the vacation home for us. We lived in Gunnison 30 years ago but have never been back. We wanted our son to see where he used to live and show his little family beautiful Gunnison. The River home was perfect. In the mornings and evenings, I knew my husband and son would be fishing , just like they did years ago. And they sure did. Each morning and evening they caught Rainbow and Brown Trout from the river and it tasted just as good as 30 years ago. The home is beautiful, comfortable, clean and spacious. It has that rustic feel, complete with deer and big horn sheep mounted on the walls. All furnishings are excellent including comfortable mattresses. Kitchen is well stocked with all you need. Yard is beautifully landscaped. Everything is maintained perfectly. It was a welcoming oasis after our day trips in the high country. The grand daughters had so much fun on the lower level with games, puzzles, pool table, piano, etc. We couldn't have been happier. Everyone loved it and wants to go back. Thank you owners for maintaining such a wonderful mountain home.

After much Internet searching, I selected GRL for the vacation home for the 3 other couples that had decided to join my husband and me for a Colorado adventure. Price and location were primary concerns and GRL was ideal.

The property is awesome, right on the river and landscaped beautifully. The pictures on the website don't do it justice! The house itself is huge, more than enough room for the 8 of us. It included everything we needed...pack light.

Only one word is needed to sum up our groups rating of GRL...Perfect!

Fabulous and fishy vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

We were in town for a wedding and rented this wonderful home. It was perfect in every way! Comfortable and cozy and kid friendly. The best part was catching fish on the fly right outside the back door. The house was equipped with everything anyone could need and more!

Great house

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from Gunnison. House was very cool. Game room and bedrooms downstairs were perfect for preteen and teens. Plenty of room for everyone to enjoy. Location was convenient for visiting Western State and taking in some of the sites. Needed more time than a few days, so much to see and do in the area. John was really helpful. Thank you for your help. Would love to come back again.

WOW! This place knocked our socks off!

  • 5 of 5

We had a family group get together for the weekend in Gunnison. I chose this location form the pictures on the website. They are VERY Accurate! It is a beautiful, wonderful, clean, well stocked house. It's very spacious both inside and outside. The location is right on the river as the pictures show, with decks on both sides of the houses. Both the owner and the caretaker were extremely friendly and accommodating. If you are looking for a place to stay, I highly recommend here. You will not be disappointed!

Caught 12 Trout Right Out The Back Door

  • 5 of 5

They were both Rainbows and the infamous Gunnison River Browns. I would have caught more but we fished 3 other rivers and went white water rafting. We were able to land the raft right out back at the house which was cool because you can go through the Gunnison river whitewater park right before. This place has a great floor plan too. It was very well accommodated with gas for the grill and firewood for both fire places. We saw the deer literally all over the yard too, pretty cool. Thanks for a great time - I am sure we will be back! Chad
