Lean back, enjoying the evening sea breeze on the wrap-around porch or upper deck and watch the schooner or dolphin-watching boats cruise past Cape May's beautifully maintained beach, less than a block away. Or buy fresh fish at Cape May's Fishing Dock and grill your own private five-star dinner on the rear deck. Or maybe you'd rather walk down the Beach Promenade, or explore some of the slate-walk, gas-lit Cape May side streets that could bring back those lazy summer evening memories even for your grandparents.

This cedar-shaked classic Cape May Beach house was recently renovated top to bottom, preserving it's old-style trim and charm, but giving it some of the bright, airy, open feel of today's new homes. There's a large landscaped yard, complete with an old-fashioned tree-swing and a private driveway with enough room for 3 or 4 cars. If you can get past the wrap-around front porch with it's wicker chairs, inside you'll find a huge first-floor bedroom and three more comfortable bedrooms upstairs; the house sleeps 10 people. There's a large TV/Living Room, giant eat-in kitchen, three full baths, and a basement with ping-pong just for that rare rainy day.

In addition to being close enough to walk barefoot to the beach, the New Jersey Avenue location is just a 10 minute walk to Cape May's downtown pedestrian mall, passing many of the famous Cape May Victorian homes and inns along the way. It's also just a couple minutes walk to many other local activities, and to some of the best restaurants at the New Jersey Shore.

What makes this house unique

Beach entrance is exactly in front of the house, so you're on the beach quicker than many beachfronts. About a 10 minute walk to Convention Center, and 15 minutes to downtown pedestrian mall. Several nice restaurants within a couple blocks.

Location, location, location!!

We rented this house for a mini vacation and wedding we were in town for. The location is unbeatable. We wanted to be close to the beach as we were traveling with my 5 month old and this house could not have been more perfect. We were able to put our son in the stroller and walk to many shops and restaurants as there were many close by. We stayed in the first floor bedroom and loved the high ceilings and private balcony. We enjoyed having the window unit in our room and being able to control our temperature separately and did not find it noisy at all. The upstairs bedrooms were exactly as described and had no complaints from other family. The owner was very helpful and accommodating, not only in booking but also during our stay. The wrap around porch was a huge hit for our family and we spent most of our time there. We also loved the ping pong table downstairs. I felt as though the owner went above and beyond to accommodate us during this stay and I will certainly book again if ever in the area!

Listing not accurate.

While the listing description was accurate regarding the location of this property, it was misleading in regard to central air conditioning. The first floor bedroom does not have central air; there is a noisy window unit in the room. In addition, the room smelled like mildew.

Owner's Response: True enough - that room is not able to be connected to the central A/C. Many people like it better though since that makes it controllable separately, and with it's 6-foot french door, the sea breezes are pretty nice. Haven't had the musty smell reported before, but maybe it's due to the wetter than usual summer, and I'll certainly take care of it in the off season.
