FREE WI-FI. The Studio is on the top, 4th floor of an historical building of the 18th century. The apartment itself is on the courtyard side of the building so is tranquil and not disturbed by the street below. Being a Studio it consists of 1 room with a corner dedicated to an enclosed kitchen, bathroom and a low loft with double bed.
A little bit of history: The building in which the apartment is situated dates back to the 18th century. Design attributed to architect Gian Giacomo Plantery. Built in the first half of the 18th century by the Marquis of Fontana di Cravanzana, from a bourgeois family of Mondovì ennobled by Duke Vittorio Amedeo II in 1722. Construction work on this building, as on the Barnabiti project, in the same block beside the church of San Dalmazzo, adhered strictly to rules laid down by Plantery himself in the edict issued on June 26 1736 for the rebuiliding of Dora Grossa Street (now Via Garibaldi). The project was intented to change the Romanesque - medieval cityscape radically: facades were to be uniform in each block and all the buildings in the street equal in hight. Here the facade consists of a colossal order of pilasters with windows set in the projecting cornice. The atrium is particularly fine: the vault with lunettes and beautiful stucco decoration transforms a rectangular space into an octagon. In contrast to buildings grander in style the staircase rises beyond the first floor piano nobile, since the upper floors were to be leased.
I was born is South Africa and left the country at the age of 21 on a European adventure and ended up staying in Turin.
GINA DEL MISTRO purchased this apartment in 2014
Why this property.... my father is a Property Broker and Developer and always said the best investment is property in the best area! It does not matter how big or small, it must be in the best area and Via Garibaldi together with Via Lagrange are the two pedestrain streets in the centre of Turin and to me via Garibaldi was my favourite street when I first arrived in Turin in 1990 and still is.
As you exit the buiding you are in the middle of a beautiful paved street scattered with cafes and shops and close to many of the best museums and most beautiful squares of Turin. From the landing that leads to the Studio there are views of the Mole Antonelliana, the Duomo of Turin, The Church of San Dalmazzo and the further away hillside.
Gracias Gina.
