This home is very special. This is a new villa. Spacious, bright and modern decor with everything needed for a luxury holiday in Ibiza in any amenities season.
We spent months researching our holiday and thought we had found the perfect villa.
When we arrived we weren't disappointed - it was new and very modern, although our one concern was that it was in a remote location with some sort of traveller camp in the next field.
The first night we left the villa we had only been gone 20 minutes when the alarm was activated, we returned to the villa and couldn't see any problems so went out again.
The next night we went out again for just two hours - when we returned we had been burgled. Somebody had used a crowbar to open the kitchen window and had come in and ransacked the villa, escaping through a patio door.
Luckily our cash and passports weren't taken - but I believe this was only because we had disturbed the burglars when we arrived home.
My husband's wedding ring had gone, as had our camera with all our holiday pictures on, as well as iPads and other items.
Our children were terrified and we all had to sleep in one room that night. We told the villa owner straight away that we could no longer stay in his villa. There were no extra locks on any of the doors and windows meaning that we felt vulnerable.
However he refused to listen to our concerns saying he felt the villa was secure - despite the fact we had had two attempted break ins in two nights.
Our children did not feel safe and he saw how distressed they were, but he refused to refund the money for the rest of our stay so we could move elsewhere.
We had to get a lawyer involved and after two days of wrangling - ruining our holiday - he eventually refunded us a fraction of what we should have got for the remainder of our stay. We had to pay for another villa leaving us out of pocket, and spend a day moving.
This was despite the fact that the letting agent totally supported us and had urged the owner to refund us so we could move and continue our holiday.
The owner was totally unreasonable and did not seem to care about the effect on us and our children. Unless he is willing to pay for security shutters we do not believe this villa is safe. I would advise anyone considering booking this villa to think carefully if they want to take the risk of being burgled and if they are willing to deal with the villa owner's uncompromising attitude.
