We have renovated both houses ourselves and are incredibly proud of what we have achieved. Duncan is an electrician and so works here now and I look after 3 other holiday cottages for people in the UK as well as our own. We both have families in the UK but we had a strong desire to live in France! We both grew up and lived in the UK but did not meet until the late 90's. Who knows where we would be living if we hadn't met!
Owner / Property Manager purchased this cottage in 2004
In the beginning we were looking to buy in Spain but decided that would be too far away from our families so chose northern France and are sooo glad we did! It isn't too far from UK so trips to and fro are easier, especially with the fantastic French motorways! We are so lucky to have chosen this village as we have fantastic French neighbours and they couldn't have been more welcoming!
While staying at our cottage we hope you will feel at home immediately as so many of our guests do. The cottage is in a small village with great access to lots of other villages and activities. Our guests find having us living next door has always been a benefit, being there to help in all sorts of ways - including help with the language! Families have found the village to be a real benefit being able to relax and have some family time playing some of the many board games etc we have available. They also find lots to do with the children that they can do for free!
This cottage is well named.. very cosy!! Short of nothing as far as equipment was concerned. It was clean and very well presented. It is in a lovely little village in the heart of Mayenne so handy for visiting the surrounding area. The cottage is on three floors and for us this was a problem as the spiral stairs were steep and narrow and there was only one loo in the hall/lounge area on the middle floor. If stairs are not a problem and you don't have young children we would highly recommend this property and the very friendly owners who live next door.
Nice week staying here, welcome pack faultless, bread, butter, cheese, fresh eggs.(home grown), milk, wine and a bottle of cider
Owners more than helpful
Small bar with shop a minutes walk away
A really nice restaurant a 10-12 minute walk away, check opening times recommend
Garden kept really nice
Would recommend this property or a nice relaxing week away
More restaurants about 10 min drive away in Mayenne
Wonderful relaxing cottage. Ideal for a romantic week, but also just as nice for families. It was very clean and well maintained. The owners were just next door and were very helpful on advice for where to visit in the area. There was so much to do in the surrounding area, from beaches at lakes, to Roman ruins. Would love to go back at some point!
Cosy Cottage is just that, it's cosy but not cramped. With Accommodation over 3 floors this cottage is so well equipped that everything you can think of has been provided. Games, books, magazines, fresh bread, eggs , milk, wine and more. The Linen is crisp and clean and the cottage spotless.
The little garden is a delight with chairs and table to eat outside and there are bikes to ride if you're feeling energetic.
Jan and Duncan ( the owners) fall over themselves to be helpful and friendly, providing much information about the surrounding areas
There's loads to do nearby from boating on the Mayenne to riding the velo-rail in St Loup de Gaste. In nearby Bagnoles there are endless restaurants which cater for all needs and then you can walk off your meal with a stroll round the shops and the beautiful lake!
We've stayed in a lot of cottages but none where the welcome is so warm and friendly and the facilities and equipment provided so comprehensive
This is a little gem
We have visited Cozy Cottage twice enjoying its well equipped home from home facilities, Janet & Duncan are excellent hosts, happy to share there exstensive knowledge of the area and French life.
Cozy guest garden is a peaceful part of the French country side where you can relax in the sun, perfect for a bar-b-q
Lots to enjoy and explore, many different restaurants for lunch or evening, shopping is easy with an abundance of local produce, we loved cooking in the Cozy kitchen and sitting round the huge farmhouse style table, in the winter stay the wood burner just made it even more cozy.
WiFi which is a must for us was excellent.

The cottage is situated in a lovely rural village, friendly locals and a small bar to meet for a chat or buy your daily baguette. Just a short walk away, there is the local Auberge restaurant which we highly recommend. It has recently been renovated and extended beautifully! Fantastic food available both lunch time and evenings. Only 7 mins drive to the nearest beautiful town with supermarket, post office, doctors, dentist and vets. The other direction within 20mins you can be in the bustling town of Mayenne with it's history, sight seeing, lovely walks along the Mayenne river and the weekly market. In the summer especially, there are lots of things going on both day and night for all the family, many of them FREE. Also lots of restaurants and brasseries there too. You are going to love it!
