Wonderful apartment, stay shortened by virus
We loved the apartment and Lyon, but our planned six weeks stay was terminated at two weeks by the virus. We can’t thank the owners enough for alerting us and assisting us in getting out of France before we would have been trapped by Macron’s order to stay in place. We got about the last train to Paris and the last plane out of France, thanks to Christine’s “heads up”. They are truly wonderful people and have a great property. We look forward to visiting again after the virus crisis is over.
Although the reason to spend time in Lyon was to visit my daughter, I was happy to visit this beautiful city. The location of the studio was perfect (close to metro stations, restaurants, beautiful architecture). Make sure to bring comfortable shoes to to discover the vieux Lyon.
The studio is very comfortable and offers amazing views of the city.
A Magical Place
This is the second time I've stayed at this property and both times it has been heaven on earth. It's a very comfortable flat and the view is absolutely stellar. It makes one feel as if you are in another world. To be there during the Fete des Lumieres and to light candles and be part of the experience was amazing. Christine is an absolutely lovely hostess and made every part of the stay wonderful.
Great stay in Lyon
Christine was wonderful and so is the property. Christine came up to meet us and spent considerable time giving us tips for Lyon and where to go to site seeing and eat. All her suggestions were spot on. The apt is in a historic and quiet area. Church bells ring during daylight hours which adds to the charm along with cobblestone streets and 17c buildings. The views are fantastic and we would have loved to have stayed longer. Thank you Christine for a great stay
Extraordinary apartment in an extraordinary city
The apartment is as beautiful as the pictures suggest. It is in an extremely old building, as the stairs attest to, but the apartment is quite beautifully renovated and decorated. The view over the city is stunning. The owner, after a problem getting an Uber lift to the train station (warning, Uber can't come on the street, which has restricted access, though a cab can be called, we learned), went above and beyond and drove us to the train herself. (Thank you, Christine!) The climb up the street is an issue if you think you are not up to it. This can be avoided by taking the metro to the stop past "Vieux Lyon" and walking a short distance down. We would definitely love to stay here again during any future trip to Lyon.
The apartment is in the most touristic area of the city. Everything is within walking distance. You will be in the heart of Old Lyon, just a little above the busy streets and will enjoy the peace and the view. Our house is on a hillside, so we have to go up or down in our cobbled lane. It is possible to descend only if you take the funicular to go back otherwise you have to count on a hundred meters of climbing. Roman theaters and Roman ruins are close by. The medieval quarter is there. The Fourvière Basilica, its gardens and the incredible view of the city are 300 meters away. The Guignol theater is down the street. Many museums are accessible on foot: Fine Arts, archeology, Gadagne Museum (history of Lyon), museum of fabrics, printing, miniatures, automata etc. You can take a Vaporetto (boat) to go to the new Confluence district. Countless restaurants are nearby. Addresses are available in the file located in the apartment. Place Bellecour which is the heart of Lyon is a 5 minute walk. for children there are gardens everywhere, tree climbing on the hill, swimming pool on the Rhône, Guignol below ... It is possible to park on the street but you must first borrow the access card to the district. It is therefore necessary to park in a neighboring street (rue des Farges, place des Minimes) or in the Saint-Georges car park on the Quai Fulchiron.
