Very Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

Bears Den cabin provided a quiet and relaxing vacation from the fast pace living of urban life. The cabin was clean and in good condition. Enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. Would recommend this place to family and friends. The residents in this rural area of WV are very nice and friendly. Thank you Deane and Doug for your use of the cabin.

Nicely decorated and well stocked

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean and very nicely decorated with a woodsy theme. We enjoyed making a campfire to roast hot dogs and marshmallows. We enjoyed the little extras that were provided - such as toilet paper, paper towels, and a well-stocked kitchen..

We loved this cabin. The location is perfect, and it was easy getting everywhere. Great amenities, we'll stocked. Loved the washer/dryer and firepit. We would definitely come back here.

Everything aside from food and drink all is included, convenient.

  • 5 of 5

Wow! Everything we needed, went to tour the radio telescope and hiked at Spruce Knob, the hot tub was especially nice after a days worth of hiking! The air is fresh and the nights are clear.

Comfy

  • 5 of 5

Future guests: Caution, bring your own food, drinks, snacks. As I assumed per reviews of previous tenants that we could eat our meals at Snowshoe/ But...they are not 'open' until July, and the one place open is not open everyday.

I left a note at the cabin with my suggestions for the maintenance staff about a few things/suggestions.

Regarding directions, it is just past the campground, slow down to pretty much a crawl, as seeing the campground it's just a few feet past it over the knoll in the road, the cabin driveways right there on your left, coming from the south way in.

To the owners, PLEASE get a new sleeper sofa mattress, the current one needs disposed of. I say that in hopes to help future guests be comfy. If not a new sofa bed, at least a better mattress. Also, invest in the allergy and bed bug barrier protectors for all bedding, get the top of the line total mattress encasements.

We like the location as its in the area for Cass, Greenbank, Snowshoe.

I enjoyed the hot tub while my family used the fire pit to relax.

We have already mentioned this property to others with our same interests to consider staying at.

The owners very much exceeded in the hospitality category. Great communication!

I enjoyed reading the guest book, you need a new one so many others can leave a short story! ❤️

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking time to write a review of your stay. I am really surprised the restaurants were not all open since there were quite a few activities going on after ski season. They open the mountain bike trails in April or May. We do plan on replacing all of the living room furniture and the dining table. And, we have replaced the guest book. Glad that all-in-all you enjoyed your stay and look forward to hearing from you in the future. Doug & Deane

Loved the house and all the decor!

  • 4 of 5

Owners were great to work with and easy to contact. The house was very cute and had everything we needed to rest and relax! Enjoyed the hot tub but the only downfall was the only way to get to it is down the outside stairs. There is no finished basement floor to the cabin to come in and out of. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this cabin to others.

If you like the outdoors, this area is for you. Great activities like Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort (ski in winter and mountain bike in warm weather) or in summer take a swim in Shaver Lake, Great area for motorcycle touring, Greenbrier River Trail (rails to trails park, 77 miles of hiking/biking/horseback riding trail), National Radio Astronomy Observatory at Green Bank, Cass Scenic Railroad State Park, Monongahela National Forest, Senaca State Forest; fish in the Greenbrier River, Knapps Creek, Deer Creek, or Buffalo Lake; take a stroll through the Cranberry glades - absolutely beautiful.
