Nestled in the foothills of the Cairngorms, The Hideaway is easily accessible from Braemar, Banchory, Ballater and Aberdeen, 15 min drive from Westhill and 30 mins fro Aberdeen offering guests a unique grand designs style experience. There are 4 double/king bedrooms , 2 have ensuite, the 5th is adjoining the upstairs connecting mezanine ideal for a family with upstairs with up to 3 children. The house accommodates max 11 people. We can cater for weddings up to 75 guests.. please contact us for information. Cocktail barman available for special occasions. There is a small gym and plenty scope for those who enjoy cycling. Pets welcome.

Using of jacuzzi is a private arrangement with the owner. There is an extra cost involved.

We would love to welcome you to the Hideaway, My husband built the house himself from 2006 -2013 in granite with a view to have a unique traditional house that would withstand the test of time and the Aberdeenshire winters. The house has been built to a high standard with 18 Douglas Fir Truses, a huge family kitchen, courtyard, carpark and log cabin/gym.

My husband worked for the royal family when he initially bought the run down property. He loved Royal Deeside and the unspoit landscape with its beautiful forrestry, rolling hills, deer and castles.

The Hideaway can best be described as a gem in the Aberdeenshire countryside, hidden away from the pressures of modern life, however, not too far away to enjoy family activities.

Stayed for 3 nights... Photos don't do house justice.. Amazing views, well appointed rooms, all mod cons, clean, very comfortable loads of space.. There were 11 of us.. Well worth hiring the jacuzzi..

lovely house same about the building work

this is a lovely house unfortunately there was building work taking place just outside (we were only told bout this 2 days before arrival). we would have appreciated being told sooner. We took our dog and cleared up his mess outside as he did it, unfortunately i found myself having to clear up after the owners dog also to enable the children to go out to play. could have been wonderful but these circumstances overshadowed our holiday. Very annoying when it could have been discussed with us before arrival.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest I am sad to read your review, but surprised, however, in our defence the booking sends out information automatically to guests when the balance is paid. We advise guests of the building work and explain this should not affect them. This is normally advised 4 weeks in advance. We are almost finished the building next door and to date have had no other adverse comments. The building doesn't affect the hideaway as it has its own courtyard and parking. As far as the dog poo is concerned, all you had to do was mention this to one of us. We asked you on several occasions if there was anything we could do for you, and you insisted everything was fine. We are disappointed you failed to tell us in person and regret not having the opportunity to make amends. Regards

Family weekend getaway break

We rented the property for 5 nights and our party included 6 adults , 2 small children and 2 dogs.

I arranged for a grocery shop from sainsburys which was brilliant and saved all the hassle of loading the car up with shopping beforehand.

The Hideaway is in a beautiful area surrounded by gorgeous scenery. The local shops are to be found at Aboyne some 15 mins away in the car and Banchory which has larger stores.

The inside of the property is stunning . The lounge , kitchen and dinning are open plan and ideal for entertaining. The kitchen has all the utensils and gadget you would need. We were lucky enough to have good weather so even managed to use the BBQ. The property has 4 double bedrooms with a 5th as part of the upstairs double room (family room) . This room does have an open balcony and as we had a 2 year old who can now climb out of a travel cot this room was not suitable so we used one of the downstairs rooms. Outside is a secure area and the dogs were able to run free.

There is a hot tub outside which is 20 metres away from the property plus there is an additional charge we decided not to use this.

I did have some difficulty contacting the owner beforehand which is mainly due to the property have a very poor mobile signal coverage and little/no internet.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest Thank you for your favourable response, however, I would like to make one point clear to anyone with children the Windows upstairs are secure and the patio window does not open. It is permanently looked. There is a child gate available on request for guests with toddlers but we do advise a room downstairs. Regards

Extra fee for 10 + guests £20 pp pm children 5-12 £10 ppm under 5 no supplement..An initial supply of logs for the log burner are supplied from October to April. If you require the log fire in Summer, we charge for logs.
October to April.. the underfloor heating is the main source of heat in the house, you must be prepared to stock the log burner or make arrangements with the owners to have them do this for you. Logs are provide for this within the cost of your rental. Jacuzzi for private I use £50 per night minimum 2 nights max 5 nights per week. Please advise if required at time of booking.
