Space 2,300 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

House, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 4 Baths, (Sleeps 14-18)

Vacationing by the lake is the consummate Door County experience. The waves will lull you to sleep and the ever-changing mood of the lake will become your favorite memory. Kite and sail surfers practice in our bay because of the calm conditions. All types of pleasure and fishing boats arrive and ore ships hug the shore as they pass.

The clean lines of the Empire style interior are accented by our collection of one-of-a-kind antiques from around the world. Each area has an access to the outside by way of a porch or balcony. Each room is cleverly designed to have a lake view.

The queen bedrooms are off the porch and deck on the main floor and upstairs in the whirlpool area. The standard bedrooms are off the garage and upstairs in the Carousel area. 3 bathrooms are attached to bedrooms; one in the upstairs Carousel area is not.

You are ten minutes away from thick and lively shopping traffic on the bay side. Our lake side is known as the quiet nature sanctuary of unique wild plants and animals. The beauty and calm has drawn the most talented actors and artists to this area since the early 1900's.

Children are delighted to play in the sand at the shallow water's edge, walk to the Yum Yum Tree for ice cream, rearrange the doll house, ride the wild carousel rabbit, play the unique folk toys, or other games. The kids collection of DVDs can be viewed as the prepare for bed. Ask for directions to The Farm where even older children like to purchase food for the hungry baby barnyard animals.

There are 3 gathering areas for family and friend reunions, and various wooden kinetic toys, a rocking Carousel rabbit, 1 child's bike and 5 adult bikes. The house or Inn is zoned as a duplex so it can be divided. It is located in town within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. There is croquet and running through the sprinkler on the wide grassy lawn overlooking the harbor and Bird's Nest Island. There is a safe basement storm area. In addition, packaged goods are available next door as well as kayak and paddle boat rentals. The public beach which is 1/8 mi South can be reached from our shoreline or a short walk down the sidewalk to the South. The Marina is 3 blocks away within walking distance.

Quaint old home. Too cluttered with worn out furnitures and appliances. Beds were beyond their usefulness and very old. Laundry was not done and the beds were not made. Garbage not picked up and sat at the curb for most of our stay.

Spacious yard overlooking the water was beautiful and the downtown location was convenient.k

Owner's Response: We constantly update our home. Since July, we have replaced the refrigerator with a top of the line LG stainless, an L G stainless stove and microwave. Furniture has been replaced and with large groups for a week, people need chairs and tables. The previous renters were late leaving and so the home was not ready. We have changed times for entry and exit. The garbage is no longer picked up at the curb but from the North side of the garage. We have been in business for 22 years and have had very few complaints and we have acted on each one.

June 17th 2016 Zak and Guests

  • 1 of 5

Arrived today to find the joint wide open and unclean. Cleaning crew (two person team) arrived right behind us and advised they were just dispatched a half hour ago. We have a 5 pm Wedding Rehearsal to change and get ready for, it's currently 4 pm. The crew is still cleaning. Texts and voicemail to Mary are yet to be returned, it's been 2.5 hours since I called. I text on the way up around noon as a reminder and to confirm the address.

Not very happy for our maiden voyage. I'll follow up with another review if the owner contacts us with a resolution. Headed to a friend's beautiful rented house close by so we can scramble to get ready for the rehearsal dinner for tomorrow's wedding.

Dissatisfied and frustrated.

Owner's Response: We do apologize for the delayed response of our house cleaning team. They are usually very reliable and follow the list of arrivals and departures that we give them. After June 15, we book by the week if we can and this client asked to stay just 3 nights. We agreed, but it probably was why our house cleaner was confused.

Great Family Gathering Experience

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at Cedar Beach House! Family from Florida, Michigan and Wisconsin were there; three were unable to join us and two more were there but not overnight. In fact the most who slept overnight was only 12. The weather was variable, but when it was pouring, there were plenty of interesting items to look at in addition to the games and books we brought. We used one Weber grill one evening and the fire pit two evenings. Everyone was very pleased with the experience at Cedar Beach House. Chives is essentially across the street, and Florian's a very short walk. We didn't take advantage of the slightly longer walk to Harbor Fish Market and Grill because we enjoyed eating on site. Porches upstairs and down!

Great House, Perfect Location

  • 4 of 5

We had a family reunion with 14 guests ranging from 2 to 82 years old. The house sits right on the water and the enclosed back porch is the perfect spot to enjoy the water. Bailey's Harbor is less populated than Sisters Bay or Fish Creek and was the perfect spot....less traffic, less congestion. Sisters Bay and Fish creek are only 15 minutes away so we were easily able to enjoy the shopping and sights and then return to the quiet side of town. House is spacious. Giving 4 instead of 5 stars because the one bedroom off the garage is really small. No closet or drawers for your belongings. We didn't feel right putting anyone in that room but others may not have any problems with it. Obviously the owners can't change that so it is not a reflection on them. Ray and Mary are great hosts and very responsive.

Cedar Beach Inn

  • 5 of 5

Hi Mary,

We all enjoyed our stay from 2 - 6 October at your house in Baileys Harbor. The house was lovely and spacious and attractively decorated and everything worked out perfectly. We all thought the location was perfect and it is very convenient to the other side of the Door peninsula. Being on the water was a great feature. We ate at Chives and Harbor Fish Market & Grille which you had recommended and they were excellent. We also ate at Al Johnsons Swedish Restaurant in Sister Bay with the goats on the roof (very interesting). We also tasted beer at Door County Brewing just up the road from your house and had lunch at the Cornerstone Pub. We also visited many art galleries and purchased an original oil from Ed Fenendael at his Windmill Farm studio in Baileys Harbor. All in all a great vacation.

Thank you

Weekend Getaway From Chicago

  • 5 of 5

Some friends and I decided to get out of Chicago and head to Door County for a long weekend. We came across The Cedar Beach Inn and I'm so glad we did! The Cedar Beach Inn sits directly on Lake Michigan and has amazing views of the lake. It was snowing for part of the time, so we spent our time savoring meals (and wine) in the fully-stocked main kitchen, chatting, and enjoying the views of the amazing lake and snowfall from the heated sun room in back. The Cedar Beach Inn has tons of knick-knacks and antiques from around the world that are very cool to play with and read about. I really felt at home and comfortable during the entire stay. Oh yeah, they even have an impressive DVD collection.

Since the Inn is right off the main road ("Main" road, it's still quiet), we walked up to the road to a local bar where we had some tasty Wisconsin beers and got to chat with the locals. We even met the town President and got some great tips on nearby lookout points and cross-country skiing trails to check out! One afternoon we took a drive up the peninsula to discover the neighboring towns and stumbled across a bakery with the most amazing cherry pie made with cherries from the local orchards. Another night we went up to The Coyote Roadhouse for dinner and enjoyed watching all the locals pull up in their snow mobiles. We will definitely be renting some snowmobiles when we return this winter!

The Cedar Beach Inn is stocked with everything you need to comfortably enjoy your stay. We enjoyed our stay so much we already have plans to return, this time with more friends!

I've been to Door County a few times in the winter and really can't get enough!
