About Angelo Piraino

I am 43 years old, married and have two children.

I am an employee of the Ministry of Justice.

I live in Palermo, but whenever I can I go back to Sant'Ambrogio, to relax in touch with nature.

Angelo Piraino purchased this villa in 2007

Why Angelo Piraino chose Palermo

A long time ago I fell in love with Sant'Ambrogio, a small hamlet of the city of Cefalu, and with much effort I first bought the land and then built the house that I decided to rent.

I decided to rent the house to get the money necessary to make it even more beautiful, further improving the garden.

A beautiful property in a stunning location

  • 5 of 5

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing week staying at Mathilda's Dream. The villa is stunning and had everything we needed. Angelo provided clear instructions in advance of our visit and met us as planned to show the route to the villa. The road is steep but it is worth it for such a fabulous view and peaceful setting. On the clear days we could see the Aeolian Islands and the sunsets over La Rocca of Cefalu were beautiful. Angelo was very welcoming, providing useful information and kindly leaving us some provisions and encouraging us to pick fruit, vegetables and herbs from the garden. We found it hard to tear ourselves away from the pool, but managed trips out to the beach and restaurants in Cefalu, as well as into the Madonie mountains and to the pizzeria in the local village of Sant'Ambrogio. On the first morning of our stay we had a problem getting hot water but within a few minutes of contacting Angelo he had arranged for the maintenance man Ernesto to visit and it was sorted immediately.

We would certainly recommend this property.

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at Angelo's house for 3 nights during our honeymoon and had a fantastic time. Angelo was great at coordinating a place to meet ahead of time and was very thorough and welcoming in showing us his house. The location and views from this house cannot be beat - my wife and I kept saying to each other how surreal it was looking over the pool out into the ocean. The drive to the top of the house is not for the faint of heart but makes the experience all the more worth it as you feel like you are the only one on the mountain side. Angelo was very accommodating and responsive throughout the entire stay and handpicked roses from the garden for my wife to take with her as we left. The indoor and outdoor kitchen area / wood fire grill made enjoying the local cuisine very unique - we even cooked a pizza in the wood fire oven. The olive oil in the house was from the olive trees outside and Angelo encouraged us to pick lettuce and fruits/ vegetables that were ripe from their organic gardens. We had such a blessed time here and would recommend it to everyone!

Beautiful villa in a lovely setting

  • 5 of 5

Our host was gracious and helpful throughout our stay, offering suggestions for local restaurants and activities. We had a wonderful, relaxing time. The views of the Mediterranean and the beautifully maintained property were highlights of our family vacation. The owner could not have been more welcoming or kinder. We would love to return for another visit - in the warm months perhaps - to explore more of the surrounding area. Grazie mille for a perfect setting for our holiday!

Tranquil setting with fabulous views

  • 5 of 5

Mathilda's Dream is a wonderfully situated villa with fabulous views over the village of Sant'Ambrogio and Chefalu, with the islands of Allicudi and Fillicudi on the horizon. The villa was very well equipped and comfortable with plenty of out door areas to sit and relax. The pool was well maintained by Nuccio the gardener who was an unobtrusive presence when there. The villa owner - Angelo - was helpful and available to answer any questions we had. There are two restaurants (Osteria and Pizzaeria) in the small and quaint village of Sant'Ambrogio so you do not need to go far for a meal. Chefalu is lovely in the old town area with plenty to see and do, and lots of good restaurants. We recommend parking at (free) the Marina which is about a 10 minute walk up the slight hill directly into the old town. We also recommend visiting the temple and amphitheatre at Segesta - it is a bit of drive but worth it.

Mathilda's Dream exceeded our expectations and was the tranquil escape we were looking for.

Complete tranquility

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely beautiful villa with the most stunning panoramic views. You can watch the sunrise and the sunset from the pool area. The house is modern, very clean and everything you could possibly need is there for you. The host Angelo was very welcoming and helpful. It was our first trip to Sicily and we fell in love with it, the scenery is breathtaking. Only an hour drive to Taormina and Syracuse (must see) and of course Mount Etna. The pizzeria in Sant Ambrogio does great takeaway pizzas and the beach there is much quieter than nearby Cefalu. Very sad to leave both the villa and the Island.

Wonderful, peaceful, exactly as we imagined

  • 5 of 5

The villa was superb, clearly a holiday home constructed for a family and not just a holiday let. We found that we didn't want to leave the infinity pool and were very relaxed, not needing to explore away from base too much. Everything was neat and clean. Vittorio , the property manager, came to clean the pool every day, he maintained the property well and was very helpful. The listing description was very accurate, the owner charming and helpful and we would recommend it highly. Can't wait to return!
