18th century farmhouse situated on a plateau above Cotignac with glorious views of the St. Joseph monastery and the Besillon mountain. The main house consists of 5 bedrooms. Master bedroom with en-suite shower room and small dressing area with built-in cupboards. 2 x Twin / double bedrooms, 1 x children's bedroom with twin / double bed plus a single bed on the mezzanine, attic bedroom with bunk beds (2x single). There are a further two bedrooms in the potteries which is a self contained building. These two bedrooms share 1 interconnecting bathroom. A further en-suite double bedroom and bathroom is located in another building. There is also a smaller bedroom with bunk beds (2x single). The appendix is perfect for a family with 2 children.
The house has a small sitting room / TV room with an apple TV and a Wii game. There is a large country kitchen with an antique wooden table that can seat up to 12 people. The kitchen leads onto the main easterly facing terrace with a large stone outdoor table which can seat 14 people. The kitchen also has an oven cooker that can be turned on for the months of October and March. There is a large drawing room with an open fireplace which leads to a westerly facing terrace and the pitch balls. There is a large playroom with many toys and games leading to a terrace, a small library area, a laundry room and a courtyard. There is air-con in the drawing room and the pottery rooms.
The swimming pool is situated at a small distance from the house in a lush garden by lawn. There is a large pool-house with comfortable lounging / seating area which can be used as an extra-large room. There is a sauna area with a sauna that can accommodate up to 8 people and a chill-out area. the pool-house also has an outdoor shower and nestled bamboo plants. The swimming pool can be used as a supplement for children and for children.
Cotignac and the surrounding area is a beautiful and somewhat undiscovered gem of an area with rolling hills, vineyards and olive groves and pretty provencal villages dotted around the countryside. Wonderful local markets, wine, and plenty of activities to do all year around.
The nearest beaches are 45 - 50 mins drive and 1hr to some of the nicest beaches on the Cote d'Azur (St Tropez, Grimaud etc ..). The Lake Ste Croix is a 30 mins drive where there is kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding and plenty of other water sports available in the beautiful clear blue fresh water. At the western end of the lake there is also a fantastic prehistoric museum. At the other end of the lake are the 'Gorges du Verdon', France's very own Grand Canyon, and the stunning village of Moustier Ste Marie. Lots of great rock climbing, abseiling, canyoning and kayaking and exploring the gorges by boat.
Less than 10 minutes drive are the beautiful Sillans waterfalls. Cotignac also has its own smaller waterfall and has a great selection of restaurants, bars and shops.
There are many other local places to eat in the surrounding area.
Straight out of the front driveway, there are endless dirt tracks and paths to explore on foot or by mountain bike. The area is lush and the valley below Cotignac is surrounded by vines and olive groves.
The local region produces many rosé wines and wine tasting is available in many local vineyards. You can buy freshly pressed olive oil from the mill St Joseph, 5 minutes from the house. We will provide you with more information about local market days, restaurants and places to visit and explore which you will find in the house when you arrive.
