Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Calafell - Las Terrazas De Calafell

2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, With 80sqm Upper Terrace Penthouse Luxury Apartment

This absolutely fabulous, well appointed, clean, fresh Penthouse holiday apartment, sleeps four and is awaiting your pleasure. This is not your normal run of the mill holiday let, this is our holiday ‘home’ that we are letting. Everything you need is here, we use it too, so we take pride in our house. It is truly ‘mi casa es tu casa’ (my house is your house).

Wonderfully situated, literally overlooking the sea, cross the road and you are on miles of glorious sandy beach!

The apartment is light and airy, with the master bedroom having French windows opening onto a balcony and the sea. What greater joy than going to sleep windows wide open, with the sound of the gentle lapping of the waves on the sandy shore.

Not only is the bedroom light and airy but the living room has comfy armchairs to relax in, again with French windows giving on to the balcony, or sit on the balcony with breakfast or light lunch and watch the antics of others as they play on the beach or frolic in the sea.

The kitchen is fully appointed including a breakfast bar, should you decide to eat in. Shops and restaurants abound so the choice is yours.

The rest of the apartment includes two bathrooms, one with bath and one with shower and two bedrooms – one with a double and one with two singles, and a large living room diner.

The upper floor is dedicated to the Solarium. An un-overlooked rooftop sun-trap, with recliners to take the sun, as well as a barbecue. Here you can relax in total privacy.

The apartment also enjoys an underground locked car park with its own allocated parking space, so should you have a car there is never a problem parking – a great boon when on holiday.

There is also a residents only communal large swimming pool and children's paddling pool, should you not fancy the sea that day.

This apartment has everything you need and yes there is a lift to the fourth floor! Alternatively, if you feel the need to exercise, you can take the stairs.

The railway station is a ten minute walk from the apartment. This links Calafell to Barcelona (line R2 from Plaza Catalunya 60 minutes away) and others towns along the way.

About Francoise Forcuit

My husband and I are both professionals and use this as our holiday home. Our other week-end retreat is a Penthouse Apartment, called Las Terrazas, in central Barcelona, by the Sagrada Familia. We also rent this out.

Francoise Forcuit purchased this apartment in 2007

Why Francoise Forcuit chose Baix Penedes

The incredible unobstructed view of the sea and the calming sound of waves upon the sandy shore.

The private solarium with barbecue for those intimate moments.

What makes this apartment unique

The option of sea or private swimming pool, with shops close by but not too close so as to intrude.

The Penthouse affords total privacy and quiet, with a cool refreshing breeze inside on those sultry days.

One goes to sleep with the windows open to the calming lapping of the waves and the rustling of the gentle breeze in Palm trees.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Yes the advert said Luxury Penthouse, but I was not ready for what I found!

When we reached the apartment block, to be able to drive down into the private secure underground car park was just great. One can then either walk round via the side past the beautiful clear blue watered residents only communal pool or straight up from inside.

The lift takes you all the way to the top.

On opening the door to the apartment the wow factor was off the scale.

So light and airy. We just flopped into the super deep super comfy armchairs and tried to take it all in.

A main master bedroom with balcony overlooking the beach, literally, the waves rolling up the shoreline, and a table and chairs for dining.

The en-suite with a secondary bathroom next to the second bedroom

The kitchen was fully equipped with everything required in a home from home

As we went onto the balcony we saw the spiral staircase.

Up we went, on a mini voyage of discovery. At the top of the stairs was a huge terrace and along the side wall a built in barbecue with chimney!

There were loungers and if it got too hot – which it did – we could retreat to the lower balcony which has an awning. As for the evenings, there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from, look at the menus and prices and decide what you want. Fish is an obvious choice and the quality and taste is amazing.

Then back to the apartment for a nightcap.

To be able to lie in bed with the windows open and let the sound of the sea gently rippling upon the shore lull you to sleep, is an experience I shall never forget.

The sunrise is also a sight to behold. The reflection upon the still waters, the twinkling of the light – a photographers dream.

There are museums, ancient monuments, the mountains and nearby towns, including Barcelona.

As Barcelona is also accessible by train – the station is only a 10 minute walk away – Barcelona has to be visited if you have never been. Just to go to Las Ramblas, see Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia and the famous shopping areas of Diagonal Mar, Plaza España, Plaza Cataluña, the old town the Port Olympico,

A day is not enough to explore it but as we discovered that Françoise also has a Penthouse Apartment to rent by the Sagrada Familia we have reserved 5 nights at Christmas to fully explore the place.

Our week in Calafell was over far too quickly. We returned home very brown, very happy, very relaxed.

I cannot wait to go back next year.

Beautiful apartment in a beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

Francoise greeted us on our arrival and spent some time showing us the apartment and advising us about the location. It is a fantastic property, equipped with everything you could possibly need.

The views from the apartment balcony and private rooftop terrace are magnificent.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, particularly a great Italian restaurant along the promenade.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay and would definitely return.

The BEST seaside apartment I have ever stayed in

  • 5 of 5

I couldn’t believe my luck when I arrived at the apartment.

Yes the advert said Luxury Penthouse, but I was not ready for what I found!

We had come by car using the scenic mountain route from Barcelona. It’s longer but I was sick of motorways and wanted to see the views. The road twists and turns a lot and if you get stuck behind a lorry overtaking is very difficult, but it is well worth the effort.

Once we reached Calafell I was blown away.

The port is small so no big gin palaces, but people with small boats and jet skis enjoying the water.

When we reached the apartment block, to be able to drive down into the private secure underground car park was just great. One can then either walk round via the side past the beautiful clear blue watered pool or straight up from inside.

The lift takes you all the way to the top, no stairs – they were for later to lose a few pounds!

On opening the door to the apartment the wow factor was off the scale.

So light and airy. We just flopped into the super deep super comfy armchairs trying to take it all in.

After a quick recovery we started to explore.

A main master bedroom with balcony overlooking the beach, literally, the waves rolling up the shoreline, and a table and chairs for dining. We did a lot of that!

The en-suite with a secondary bathroom next to the second bedroom – ideal his and hers as there were just the two of us.

The kitchen was fully equipped with everything required in a home from home. We already envied the owners of such a beautiful holiday home.

The surprises weren’t over yet!

Midday sun is truly for mad dogs and Englishmen here. My advice is to follow the Spanish way. Eat have a sieste and sunbathe or sit in the sun and read once the real heat of the day has passed.

Tolle Ferienwohnung in gepflegter Anlage mit fantastischem Ausblick

  • 5 of 5

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the review. We are really pleased you liked the place. As for the Internet and the Tv, I am afraid the coverage is very bad in the whole area and we have been waiting, for years, for a new antenna to be installed on the mountain behind the apartment but the Goverment of the Region isn't in a hurry to do so. I am looking forward to seeing you next year. Very kind regards Francoise

Bel appartement face à la mer

  • 4 of 5

Calafell itself is located in the heart of the Baix Penedes region and is the gateway to the Costa Daurada. Calafell allows you to discover the history of our ancestors by tracing their footsteps via the Ciutadella Iberica, Santa Creu Castle, as well as exploring the Casa Barral (he was a poet and author 1928-89) to name but a few of the interesting places to explore.

With 5 kilometres of golden sand, iodine rich waters, a maritime promenade that runs alongside, numerous beach and water-sport activities, children’s beach clubs, gymnastic classes on the beach, football, basketball, skating, surfing, sailing (we even have our own 10 metre mooring if you have your own boat), there is lots to do.

For those of you who desire a more sedate form of exercise there are numerous Golf courses in and around Calafell. It is also a centre for Nordic walking. All this adds up to making it an ideal holiday destination, with something for everyone.

For those of you wanting to stray outside the town for a little more adventure, the PortAventura Park with six areas filled with rides, shows, shops and restaurants is just a few kilometres away on the AP-7 just beyond Tarragona.

Tarragona itself is full of historic monuments, churches and monasteries. It is culturally very ancient and interesting. If you are looking for a change of scenery then there is Sitges, renowned worldwide for its Film Festival and Carnival, located between the Garraf Massif and the sea, it is also well known for its beaches, nightspots, and historical sites.

For further information please do not hesitate to ask. We feel sure that you will love the apartment, much as we do as we have spent many happy weeks, over the years, relaxing in the sun and just enjoying the atmosphere.

Here it is warm from April to October so come along and relax in our beautiful home.
