Staying at the Yam house was amazing. I stayed here for week in January with my family and I must say I was amazed with how much space this house had. Another surprise was the full bathroom with a shower downstairs instead of the half bathroom we are accustomed to. Mary-Ann was very quick and accommodating to any questions or needs that we had. The only thing I would say was a little trouble was the strength of the wifi. Traveling with teenagers they were glued to their devices and couldn't go far from the router to get proper signal. But overall I had a wonderful experience and would stay there again.
I have been to Barbados many times before and each time I rent through HomeAway.com, but Bromfield Plantation is by far the best property that I have experienced thus far. Although the property is secluded and quite far from many places I needed to go , I am glad I choose comfort over convenience . Every time I told a local person where I was staying their eyes got wide with shock so I knew I was in for a treat. The property was beautiful, tranquil, and private. If your like me , a lover of nature this is just the property your looking for. The land was well kept, the birds flew in and out as they pleased , a few monkeys 🐒 frequented the property , the horses and cows grazed the field peacefully. I have never experienced anything like Bromfield Plantation, the Yam House , which I was told is over a 100 years old , definitely has modernized feel to it but certain aspects of the house are still the same which is great. Kerry, the grounds keeper was a gracious host he gave us a tour of the property as well as St.Lucy which was beautiful, he took us up to the Animal flower cave, and I have never in my life experienced such beautiful sights , so you must get him to take you on a tour of the town. Going forward when I visit if the property is available this will be my home away from home. Thank you Mary-Ann for accommodating myself and fellow travelers, it is greatly appreciated !
Last time in Barbados, we stayed at a beachfront property. This time we decided to try somewhere else. The Yam House was a fantastic option and very good value. The house itself is lovely with quality furnishings. The terrace is beautiful and where we ate all of our dinners. The views are lush and we spotted monkeys in the nearby field as well as humming birds...
We are a family of four, so we had plenty of room.
The shared pool is very nice and we used it when we had a bad weather day.
Thank you Mary-Ann for the start up groceries and Kerry for looking in from time to time.
Having neighbours made us feel safe, but we were also independent.
The fishpot was around 5 mins away, with a pretty little beach and Heywards next to Almond Beach, 10 mins. We sometimes picked up some local food from the back of the van parked at the roundabout there, terrific Yam and flying fish. And very good value.
Wifi worked very well, although at first we had to reset it by pushing ia pen into the hole at the back of the box.
Would definitely return as eaily as good if not better than beachfront.
We rented a car for the duration. Thanks also for meeting us at the airport to help us find the way.
Very happy with the whole holiday!
Both Barbados and the stay at this location went rather swimmingly! The owners made us feel very welcome and went out of their way to help us to get to now not only the immediate area but many other parts of the island. The area is very quite, peaceful and secure. The home was very tastefully decorated and lacked nothing to make a traveler feel at home. Renting a vehicle while in Barbados makes enjoying this location and the many short drives to see the sights a breeze. It is only a short drive to St. Nicholas Abby , a wonderfully restored rum distillery and to the Animal Cave's in the north (a must see) Swimming beaches are within 10 minutes and many Supermarkets are close as well.
Absolutely everything described in the listing is very accurate, and well maintained. I cannot reiterate enough how beautiful and relaxing our stay went. We would absolutely recommend this property to anyone who enjoys a quite country stay in Paradise. We are already planning for next years holiday and cannot wait to have the opportunity to stay there in Barbados again.
