About Cha cha
We are a local family. I was born and raised here. As well as my son. My husband is a working carpenter and I work in Honolulu. My son teaches surf lessons and works in a local popular eatery. We are working and enjoy sharing our home with visitors. You are sharing our beautiful space so ask that you are respectful of that. We are of your privacy as well. Although we like to interact if you are open to it. Sometimes our work schedules don't jive with our guests fun schedule. Please don't mistake this for indifference. We are always concerned for your comfort. It is not a party house, so if that's what you're looking for there are other options out there. We basically are early to bed for the guys and I return late in the evening. Not as early a riser as they are.. We do have a young dog who pretty much is a house dog. He does go out for play. So if this is a problem let us know and we will keep him contained. He is usually in or tied on our deck. Please contact us if this is a fit for you. Aloha,
Cha cha purchased this House in 2007

A magical tropical sanctuary on the North Shore
Our stay at Pūpūkea Pools was so relaxing and rejuvenating after the busy atmosphere and crowds of Waikiki. Cha-Cha was very helpful, answered all of our questions before and during our stay and also respected our privacy. There were heavy rains and the power went out the day of our arrival. Cha-Cha called us to give us a heads up in case we wanted to adjust our plans and had a couple lanterns in case the power was still out when we arrived. The unit has everything needed for comfort. There is no stove but there are burners that can be plugged in for cooking and a grill. The mattress on the bed is excellent and the linens and bath towels are high quality. The driveway is steep but safe and cell phone reception is spotty, which we liked because we wanted to get away from it all. The unit has WiFi and cable. The pool is private and beautifully located surrounded by lush tropical flora and overlooking the reserve that the property backs up to. There are a couple hikes on the reserve within a five minute walk of the house. The beach, the ocean and Foodland are an 8 minute drive away just down the hill. I recommend Cholos in town for dinner. Overall, Pūpūkea Pools is a lovely escape from the fast pace of the city and we would certainly return.
Spacious pool home
The pool home was very spacious and roomy for 2 people, yet there was room for 3 people as there was an extra twin size bed in another room. Very large kitchen with all the appliances and kitchenware you need as well as a full-size refrigerator which was very nice and convenient. The house is located on the mountain hillside so cell reception was limited and calling an uber can be difficult therefore having a car is definitely recommended to get around as you can't walk or bike up or down the windy hillside up to the property, you would definitely get hit by a car as the road is narrow and two-way. The pool house was equipped with a lot of beach (umbrellas, chairs and cooler) and snorkeling gear which was very handy. Only negative that I can think of is the bathroom where it smelled mildewy. All in all I would recommend this property as it was very homey and cozy.
Gorgeous setting, private & comfortable accommodations.
I can not say enough about this beautiful apartment. It lacked for nothing-spacious living room with flat screen TV & cable, wifi, large fully stocked kitchen, excellent king sized bed, walk-in shower with plenty of hot water. The setting was magnificent & very private-up in the hills of the North Shore, lush plantings all around with a beautiful pool. Most of all, the family of mother, father & son were kind & solicitous. We will be back for sure!
Great location, very private, with everything you need to enjoy the North Shore
We have been visiting the North Shore for years and this place is the perfect location for exploring and relaxing
Cha Cha and Zach were super helpful and accommodating, making our stay so delightful.
We enjoyed running on trails 1 block away every day and there are so many beach options within a few miles. Also great to have Foodland close by.
Home away from home
Far from the hustle bustle of Honolulu, near the heart of the North Shore area, a narrow road winds into the hills as you find your way into a quiet neighborhood just above the town of Haleiwa. Given excellent directions by our host, we had no problems entering the property, where we found the wide parking pad both convenient to unpack and secure, far from the street. Greeted first by roaming chickens! We were met with genuine “Aloha” from our host, who showed us to the very private guest house: the short path through the homey peaceful garden equally as welcoming. Be prepared to drop your troubles, and relax into the truly natural surroundings. The interior of this home is beautifully decorated, lovely paintings, harmonious comfortable furnishings: you will feel right at home. Although we did not bring children! I could sense that tykes and teens would love this place. All the amenities are explained by the warmly written house guidebook! No problems with internet connection, but no cell phone reception. More important: great comfy king bed, and the extra room’s twin was tested. You will feel happy with the clean restroom, ample towels for both bath and pool are provided. (There is a washer and drier available inside the host’s home garage.) We enjoyed casual swimming in the very private and large! pool, clean, cool, surrounded by the forest. It is an older concrete deck and patio, so don’t expect Hotel Standard. You have the pool all to yourself, and once again the kids will love it. Plenty of lounge chairs, tables with umbrellas; we didn’t need these as a kind of cloud cover provided shade! One watches the sun set through a veil of trees, while the birds sing its passing. Quiet, Peace and true owners’ Love exemplify this property. From here (down the narrow “wiggle waggle” road, drive slow) fear fades as you descend toward the North shore playgrounds. the Pacific and all its features sing just for you. We enjoy walking and wading: read the guidebooks, there is plenty to “do” here in Real Hawaii! Like snorkeling and surfing of course. Explore, everything Beach is easy to reach. We did not try to return “home” after dark, so I couldn’t say anything about the road up at night. All in all, as elders, we were so appreciative of our hosts’ gracious greeting, and concern for our welfare. Weather can be changeable: we enjoyed being rained upon inside this pleasant house! At such a reasonable price, I would highly recommend this home away from home.
Nice Stay, Accommodating Owner
Our stay at this property was very nice. The location was just far enough up the hill to escape the hustle of the north shore, yet close enough to be convenient. Having Foodland 5 minutes down the hill was quite nice.
The unit was clean and spacious and Charlotte was a very accommodating host. She and her family live upstairs, but I rarely noticed. She was amenable to an early check-in and even turned the pool filter off for a few hours so that my afternoon by the pool was quiet and relaxing. Other than the roosters letting out a few cock-a-doodle-dos in the morning, it was very quiet.
The kitchen does not have a stove, but as long as you are not planning a gourmet meal, it has plenty of small kitchen appliances to make up for that(hot plate, microwave, panini press). There is no air conditioning, but there are several floor fans that kept the unit cool enough.
Thanks, Charlotte for a very nice stay!
