Beware - Not what it Seems!

We stayed 6 nights here, but would not stay here again. This property felt a little like a bait and switch. The pictures shown on the listing, while similar in layout are NOT of the property we stayed in. The actual property is smaller, more cramped (there is a wall between kitchen and living area) and much dirtier. Upon walking in, it was clear this is a rental property that has not been kept updated or well-maintained. The bed was broken, requiring us to put pillows underneath the side rails to make it usable. We are fairly confident there were also bed bugs present during our stay. When we e-mailed them to inform about the broken bed, we never received a response which about sums up how they maintain the flat. It wasn't until the last day that we noticed the bed bugs.

Booking was fairly easy - you instantly receive an automated e-mail from Way to Stay with instructions on how to pay. That seemed to be their only role. The property is managed by thesqua.re. They require you to arrange a time to meet to get the keys and call an hour before you arrive to meet someone there. Not the easiest way to get keys - trying to meet up with someone at a certain place and time in busy London when you're coming from outside of the city. Check-out was a breeze as we just had to drop the keys in the post.


-Conveniently located near public transportation (Victoria underground line is just steps away, Vauxhall station is across the street with frequent trains to Waterloo station and regular service to Hampton Court, which was great since that was on our to-do list, bus station by rail station)

-Close to Thames River walking path with easy access to Westminster area

-Close to grocery stores and restaurants on-site and near rail station

-Reliably fast internet connection

-Washer and Dryer onsite (though only enough soap for one load)

-Dishwasher (soap for two loads)

-Good alternative to booking an even more cramped hotel room in central London

-Good size for two people, very quiet apartment


-Not what is pictured in the listing

-Not well maintained, dirty (carpets, walls, etc.)

-Bedroom was very bright - lights from plaza spilled in all night - we never knew when we woke up if it was middle of night or morning

-Broken bed

-BED BUGS - need I say more?

Location was perfect. Apt is modern with most conveniences. However, reception was bad -- we waited fir an hour the arrival of keys. Apt was not well cleaned.
