Attractive Terraced Character Cottage In The Heart Of This Popular Village

Bedrooms 3
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Delightful 3 Bedroom Cottage In Central Location

An attractive terraced character cottage in the heart of this popular village, steeped in traditional features such as original beams, slate floor and exposed stone walls yet infused with stylish interior design, fabulous fabrics and luxurious furnishings.

Following a complete refurbishment in 2014, the owners have made the very best of this property, mixing modern and stylish with a very high standard of furnishings & equipment which makes this a truly luxurious cottage. As very experienced 'self caterers', the owners have paid a great deal of attention to detail and their guests needs.

Spacious dining room accommodates six diners comfortably to the front of the cottage with easy chairs either side of the multi fuel stove. Cosy lounge with sumptous sofas, original slate floor and exposed lake land fireplace with a second multi fuel stove, everything to make those evenings in front of the fire even more enjoyable.

Saloon doors lead to bright and airey breakfast room with folding doors onto sunny decking and an enclosed yard, a great way to start the day!

The bright and well equipped kitchen is more than suitable to assist in catering for any self-catering holiday.

First floor to a the first of our bedrooms, all with TV. A cosy double to the front of the cottage with co-ordinated dressing table and wardrobe and a twin bedroom to the rear (next to bathroom). The house bathroom consists of double sinks and double shower and WC, ample storage and in-house stereo system with floor mood lighting.

Upper floor to the attic master bedroom with exposed lakeland stone walls and beams. A luxurious king size bed, large screen TV and large skylight for night time stargazing make this room the favorite!

Due to its central location all the amenities of the village of Bowness are on your doorstep, as well as many excellent walks nearby which can be started direct from the cottage and allows you to take in the beautiful view points of Brantfell and Post Knott.

As well as a National Park, the Lake District received worldwide recognition in 2017 when we were granted World Heritage Status by UNESCO! Something we are extremely proud of.

Guestbook comments from the manager

What a blissful, relaxing week we've enjoyed in the Lakes and in this beautiful cottage. From the comfy beds and beautiful kitchen/diner to the milk and biscuits on arrival - it's all been perfect. Been a "home away from home" which is really ideal when travelling with 4 children! We would definitely love to return here and will spread the word about Ellefred Cottage to our friends and family! Thank you!

Another great stay

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming here for a few years and the cottage looks as good as the first time we stayed! corresponding with Tracey is straightforward. We had a slight issue with the shower temperature on arrival and it was sorted within a flash. Still one of our favourite hideaways in Bowness and we plan to be back!

Lovely renovated house in a prime location close to all amenities at Bowness on Windermere.

  • 5 of 5

We were a party of 5 adults and the layout really suited us. All fixtures and fittings were of a very high standard. Walking distance from everything you need including ferry, supermarket and restaurants. Only one parking permit however we managed to park the second car a couple of streets away. Would recommend this property to anyone visiting the Lakes.

Great location and wonderful house

  • 4 of 5

We spent 4 nights here in June. The house was extremely clean and well equipped. The kitchen has everything you need. We loved walking into town every night and down to the lake to watch the sunset.

The house was set up well for 3 adults and 2 children.

The only thing missing was a fan. I know it is not usually needed at all but it was over 80 degrees everyday so a fan would have been nice.

Would definitely recommend this place for a central location in the Lakes district. The owner is very easy to work with and very responsive. Would stay here again.

A lovely cottage for a Winter break in the Lakes

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely stay in Ellefred cottage. The cottage itself is very well appointed having everything you could need for a self-catering holiday. The beds were very comfortable and the children thought they were in heaven having TVs in their bedrooms. The location was perfect for easy access to the facilities of Bowness. The road parking was ok; a couple of times we ended up parking on the next street along, due to lack of availability of a space outside the cottage, although this wasn't really a problem. Tracy was helpful and considerate in sorting out a problem we had with the boiler. I would definitely recommend this cottage as somewhere to stay in the Lake District in the depths of Winter.

Stunning cottage

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely property, great location as it’s in the centre of bowness . Cottage is tasteful decorated and has everything you need for a relaxing stay . One bathroom wasn’t an issue for us as we are a family of 4 but if 6 people stayed I would imagine it would be . We would definitely stay again , but we now have a dog and no dogs at this cottage which is a shame as most of the neighbouring cottages do . Would recommend.
