A refurbished and well equipped first floor apartment which looks south towards the beach. This sunny apartment comprises 2 twin bedrooms, lounge/dining area with sofabed, modern kitchen and bathroom. The south facing balcony has excellent sea views while the rear terrace catches the evening sun and overlooks well kept landscaped gardens. You will have the use of 3 communal pools with safe paddling areas for children and toddlers. Air conditioning is supplied by ceiling fans in the bedrooms and kitchen area. Toys, family dvds/cds are also supplied for your enjoyment. Facilities include Wi-Fi, electrical items such as mp3/cd player, tv, satellite (free-to-air channels), dvd/video player, tv hard drive, hairdryer, floor standing fan, ironing board and iron, apartment /tourist information book.

+++ Bookings are made under the Spanish Tenancy Act in order to comply with national Spanish laws and local Iberian regulations for apartments +++.

Bookings available for 7 or 14 days only unless agreed in advance with owner.

Arrival/Changeover day is Saturday during June, July and August. Other days can be accommodated in May, September and October.

Great location - particularly for kids

Had a seven night stay in this apartment in late September. First floor apartment consisting of two twin rooms, bathroom and a combi-kitchen/dining/lounge area plus a small terrace at both front and back.

Due to Sat Nav issues had to call the owner for directions who was really helpful and friendly. Tip if staying here is to make sure you are at the right block of properties as they each share the same house number and all look the same! If facing the sea the blue water slides should be to your left - not right as we found out!

Unlike many properties we've stayed at before this one comes complete with a great selection of films, music and toys for the beach. We had the odd rainy afternoon yet entertaining our three year old was never a problem. Neither was entertaining ourselves once we'd come back from town as it was his bedtime - something that trumps this apartment over staying in a hotel at a comparative price.

If planning on cooking/eating in the kitchen is well stocked with cutlery, plates and equipment and the cooker was spotlessly clean. It's a compact area but was great to find a proper oven and hob rather than the two ring hobs you often find in holiday apartments. We also made use of the washing machine that is in the apartment.

Town is a short walk away and the restaurants are all family friendly places with staff who pay attention to kids which is always a nice touch. Beach is an additional five minute walk although we chose to drive seeming the car park was free. There is also a choice of two local pools with bars and sunbeds (fees apply) that each have a child friendly pool - we preferred Club Jaime which was a two minute walk away from the apartment.

The supermarkets in Son Bou are pretty basic so you are better off stopping in at one of the two located back in Mao. If you can bear it having flown and are hiring a car we found two located just off the main road to the airport. If coming from the airport turn right at the round about with the big spike monument on it and supermarket is at the bottom of the hill on left side. Or right at the next roundabout signed for the industrial area and it is a couple of blocks down on the right side. NB next block from Goldcar rentals if using them.

Overall liked the resort and this apartment would be ideal for anyone coming here.

Wonderful Son Bou Apartment

We had a delightful stay at this apartment. It was perfectly located, right on the front with a great view across the nature reserve and bay. The apartment was so very well equipped and clean, which was just lovely. We will definitely be staying at this apartment again on a next visit to Son Bou.

Lovely holiday again

This was our 3rd time in Tony and Sue's apartment and our family of 2 adults and 2 children (now 15 and 11) have had a lovely time yet again. The new white windows make the apartment much lighter and look great. We love the location of the apartment with it's lovely views both from the front out over the nature reserve to the sea and the rear with views up the hill with it's many beautiful villas and starlit skies. The apartment has everything we need from films for the children, lots of books, cds and wifi connection which is better than ours at home.

We struggle to find good restaurant food in resort but find that the apartment is so well equipped that we often cook for ourselves which makes for some lovely laid back evenings when we don't always feel like going out.

Correspondence from Tony is always prompt and any queries or issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently. I can confirm that the management company came to rectify the noisy fan (as mentioned in a previous review) during our stay...although it really wasn't an issue for us but obviously something that the owners have acted upon very quickly.

I am sure we will be in touch again in the future to rebook.

A great apartment for a family

This apartment comes with everything you could need for a holiday, from hair clips to sun parasols, from children beach toys to sharp knifes in the kitchen. I don't think there was anything we needed.

We had an issue with the Internet, I spoke to the manager and within 10 mins she was around to sort it.

Yes the door does stick on the floor and the kitchen fan does squeak, I am sure if it bothered me enough the management would sort it, perhaps the owners will direct the management team to sort it. ( it did not bother us) We have a family of 5, 3 boys aged 14,12,8 and we did not find the apartment too small.

The place was lovely and clean, this property benefits from double glazing through out. No air conditioning which is stated on the advert. It's 33 degrees C out here and after speaking at the poolside with other guests it would seem very few have air conditioning and like us they had no where to escape the heat. Saying that, going from super cooled to 33 degrees is not the best idea either. If I had to suggest one thing it would be for the front balcony facing the sea to have a retractable shade in the roof, (like the majority of 1st floor apartments ) this would keep the direct sun off the balcony and keep the front room slightly cooler.

The complex itself is very well maintained, no litter and clean bins everywhere. Club San Jamie is the nearest pool/ bar area it's free to use unless you hire beds €3 per bed per day. There is a supermarket nearby but a cheaper one further in the resort, likewise their is a wonderful bakery up the hill near the bars etc that sells wonderful pastries, every morning my oldest would bring back some.

Son Bou beach has to be one of the best in the med, clean safe and really warm. We also did the night market in Alaior and a trip down to Es Castell to see their fiesta and fireworks display; both worth the effort.

The resort is purposely built for family holiday makers, there is very little traditional Spain here, we had to go exploring to get real Menorca. There is regular bus services but I think to get the best of the island a car is needed.

All in all we had a great time here staying at this apartment, the owners answered any question we had and gave wonderful advice which was greatly appreciated.

Lovely airy property with all you need to get started plus plenty of beach toys.

Tony and Sue were very accommodating as we only needed a short stay for a couple of days. Property on arrival was very clean and plenty of films to watch for all but was handy for the children.

Only a couple on minor points. The ceiling fan in the kitchen was squeaky and the front door need planing on the bottom as it graunches on the floor unless you lift it slightly.

No need to reduce the stars though as this was a lovely retreat especially with the Restraunt and pool within a stones throw. If you buy drinks at the Restraunt you can use their pool all day!

Relaxing 2 week stay in a great location!

Just back from spending 2 weeks in Tony and Sue’s fantastic apartment. The apartment was well-equipped, clean and more than comfortable for my wife, 2 children (aged 9 and 11) and I. The grounds of the San Jaime complex are very well kempt and the pool in zone 4 next to the apartment was clean and had life-guards/first aiders constantly present, making it perfect for families, plus the water slide was certainly a hit! The food and evening entertainment in the San Jaime club was really good and exceeded our expectations.

The information provided by Tony and Sue was excellent and we tried many of their recommendations for restaurants and also for trips out in our hire car. The Ses Garces Beach bar was our favourite to watch the sun go down in an idyllic setting and the food in the Restaurante Compostela in Son Bou, as recommended, was first class.

The apartment is only a 10 min walk to the beach and whilst the beach was busy in some sections it was very easy to find quieter spots. The gently shelving beach made it ideal for the kids who also enjoyed snorkelling and swimming in the sea.

The location of the apartment in Son Bou also made it a perfect base for exploring the island and we had enjoyable trips to Mahon, where we went on the glass-bottomed boat round the harbour, Cuitadella, Monte Toro for fantastic views of the island, Fornells and also a walk along the beach to Santo Tomas. Whilst we had a hire car, there is a bus stop close to the apartment, so a hire car isn't a must have. The fact that the apartment is at the front of the complex made for great sea views and we tended to eat lunch on the balcony making full use of the nearby bakery and many a late evening was also spent sitting on the balcony enjoying a night cap or two!

Tony and Sue had provided games, lots of DVD’s and books which meant that our kids were happy to stay in the apartment for an hour or so after lunch during the hottest part of the day, this also meant that they still had lots of energy to play on the beach until late in the evening and to enjoy the entertainment in the San Jaime club to the full.

There are many more places for us to visit on the island and things to do for the kids than we managed during our stay, the apartment was a home from home and our holiday was everything we could have wanted and more – we would love to go back in future.

Owner's Response: This shows that there really is so much to do if you want to. Menorca is a small island that is packed with leisure options. On the other hand you can just take it as it comes - one day at the local pool, next day at the nearby beach, and repeat!

The apartment is set amongst spacious landscaped gardens, close to Son Bou's superb child friendly beach, the longest on Menorca. All resort amenities are within walking distance. Son Bou is a firm favourite with families and couples due to the friendly village atmosphere, golden sand dunes, sun and sea. The resort comprises: 3 swimming pools, 3 supermarkets, a satisfying selection of good bars and restaurants, childrens' playgrounds, nightly indoor disco & twice weekly entertainment programme (June - Sept). For those wishing to explore the island, Son Bou is well placed with easy access to all island attractions. Locally you will find a tourist train, bus services and several car hire firms. In addition, Son Bou has been designated as a 'Site of Special Interest' due to the presence of historic and ecological sites in the vicinity.
