Villa Due Leoni is a charming villa on two floors with private pool and garden situated on a lemon estate halfway Catania and Taormina and at only one km from the sea and the village of Riposto where you can find fresh fish every day.
The garden has been transformed in a real paradise with palm trees, perfect lawns and an orchard with all kind of fruit trees. From the terrace and the pool (10 x 10 meters, deep 140 cm) you have a stunning view on the coast and on Mount Etna, often puffing. The pool is open all year round.
"[T]his villa is truly on top of what we have experienced so far. Idyllically located in lemon plantation, Mt. Etna towering to the west and the Mediterranean sea to the east. The unspoilt village Riposto within easy reach by foot with several restaurants and local shops. Within short driving distances you even reach some of the most "necessary" attractions”. We (6 adults and 5 kids 0-13 years) have several times rented villa through Homaway.com, and never been disappointed. But this villa is truly on top of what we have experienced so far. Idylically located in lemon plantation, Mt. Etna towering to the west and the Mediterranen sea to the east. The unspoilt village Riposto within easy reach by foot with several restaurants and local shops. Within short driving distances you even reach some of the most "necessary" attractions like Mt. Etna with the entire surrounding National Park, the incredible village of Taormina and not least the Aeolian Islands Vulcano, Stromboli etc.
We were fortunate and had a whole week with sunshine and good temperatures, so we virtually lived in the pool and on the terrace, using the outdoor kitchen facilities. The pool is huge and great for the kids, and is safely fenced to prevent accidents.
On top of all this we had excellent help and assistance from our kind hosts, Mr. and Mrs Foti, they did all they could for us to get the most out of our stay in Sicily. Definitely a place where we will recommend and where we would like to return!
Lovely old farmhouse with plenty of room. - we were a party of 5 but there is space for 3 couples and four children and a baby cot. Set in lovely gardens and its own citrus orchard with plenty of outside seating and tables around a nice pool. Owners very friendly and supplied us with fresh produce from the garden, eggs and wine. Riposto is a small town with a number of shops, fish market and restaurants. I would recommend restaurant Botti on the sea front for great pizza and large portions. - definitely share your starters! Riposto is centrally
placed to reach Etna, Taormina, Catania, Syracuso and Messina. I would certainly recommend this villa especially for families wanting a relaxing time.
We had a great trip to this villa, it is exactly as advertised, well presented with great accomadation.
The couple who own the property are very friendly and helpful.
We would definitely recommend this villa to our friends
When we arrived the owners were there to greet us and showed us around the house. The house was clean and well maintained. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the terrace upstairs had ample space for relaxing and eating. We enjoyed the swimming pool and the spacious gardens with a beautifu view l of Mount Etna It is a very good base to see the the east of Sicily and would highly reccommend the property to any family or group of friends who want to relax but also tour the area. Thanks, a very enjoyable week
Lovely villa, located in large gardens, great views of Etna and sea views on the other side.
The drive up to the villa isn't that promising, the area is quite run down. But once through the gates the villa is lovely and secluded.
The pool and terrace are perfect wether it is raining or sunny (we had a bit of both during our 10 day stay). Pippo and Maria (the owners) were very helpful and the daily deliveries of fruit and vegetables from the gardens were very well received.
The villa is exactly as advertised and very well presented with plenty of space.
From the villa we explored the surrounding coastline and day trip to Etna and the local beaches are a must.
Riposto is an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily. The village lies halfway between Catania and Taormina and just 10 kilometres from Acireale, a pretty little city, built on a plateau of lava, that is known for its Baroque churches. The beach of Sant'Anna distances less then 3 km. Gardini Naxos, a seaside resort with a sandy beach, just 20 km further on the coast. Next to Giardini Naxos we find Taormina 'the pearl of the Mediterranean' and the most exclusive seaside resort in Sicily. Its ancient Greek theatre is world famous for its extraordinary panoramic views. Pozzillo, Santa Maria la Scala, Torre Archirafi and Aci Trezza are cute seaside villages near Riposto. Travelling south, one hour’s drive away lies Syracuse.
Riposto is also an excellent base from which to explore Mount Etna and its surroundings. The villages of Etna, such as Trecastagni, Zafferana Etnea and Randazzo, are famous for their ancient lava flows, the architecture of their seventeenth century churches, their delicious local produce and the hospitality of the villagers. Situated about 600 metres above sea level, they are a favourite retreat of the city dwellers who, in summer are in search of cool, fresh air, while in winter are in search of snow for skiing. Few people are aware that Etna is a popular location for skiers in winter. On some glorious days in winter, it’s even possible to ski the frozen slopes in the morning enjoying a wonderful panoramic view of the Mediterranean, and then, the same afternoon, go and sunbathe on the beaches below!
