I grew up in a tiny Kentish village surrounded by past houses and hop fields. My parents both worked on farms. My mum was noted in the village for taking a large bull for its morning walks.
Having grown up in farming community i have always dreamed of having my own rural property, which i now have in Spain. I would love you to become part of my dream.
Having played professional football in the late sixties for crystal palace i have tried to keep as active as i can ,running marathons mountain biking and walking to name just a few, so feel free to join me in some sporting pursuits.
chris large purchased this farmhouse in 2011
This property ticked all the right boxes, it reminded me of where i grew up, old fashioned charm a peaceful setting and above all freedom.
This property is part of spanish history. If walls could talk think of the many stories that they could recollect - families laughing and playing together before the days of television and radio. These older properties in the country regions were often the meeting places for song and dance, every home seemed to have a guitar and someone keen to play. Dancers were never a problem, with even the youngest urged to join in.To help the proceedings. Home made wine would flow.
Listen to the walls and find there secrets
A 1980s cliché I know, but 'bijou' springs to mind when trying to define Chris' Apartment. My on-line searched defines bijou as something small but elegant and tasteful. Small it is but it does adequately accomodate four people, and the barbecue and roof terrace area add more space to stretch out and relax (a great place to unwind with a good book!). And it is very quiet. Although the road runs past the 'village' at the end of the lane, it had very little in the way of traffic.
And Chris was the consummate host, adding nice touches (well stocked fridge, larder and bathroom cabinates, and even a lighted Christmas tree and bowls of chocolates - which made the children very happy) to be sure we had everything we needed.
It is a wee bit remote but Huércal-Overa and is only ten minutes away on a good road, with all you need, banks, supermarkets, restaurants, a hospital and the A7 'motorway'.
But if you are looking for a real 'getaway-from-it-all' experience, then yes, I would happily recomend it.
Although the property is not situated close to the beach, a visit to Mojacar is highly recommended a town split into two parts: the playa offers all that you would wish for in a seaside resort and the pueblo perched on a mountainside has a host of winding narrow walkways and at night this twinkling village springs to life. There are more details of places to visit in your welcome pack.
