Outstanding detached ski chalet in Morzine Avoriaz area with sauna & games room

Bedrooms 4
Separate WCs1
Space 1,614 sq. ft.
Property type chalet
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

This beautiful 18th century chalet is situated in a traditional alpine hamlet

With commanding views over the Aulps valley, the chalet features log fire, sauna, boot room and games room with table tennis and table football. Just 5 minutes from Morzine with cable cars to the Morzine/Les Gets ski area and Avoriaz via the Super Morzine link. An easy 10 minute drive to the Ardent cable car gives direct access to Avoriaz. This is our preferred route since there is unlimited free car parking at Ardent and it is quicker than the links from Morzine.

Two downstairs bedrooms sleep four and share a bathroom and separate lavatory. Upstairs, two bedrooms sleep six with their own bathroom and additional communal areas. Separate exterior access to the first floor. 140 square metres / 1500 square feet arranged over two floors.

The chalet has a Scandinavian sauna to ease away those aches and pains at the end of the day. Free WiFi, HD Satellite TV and XBOX 360 available.

Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, coffee machine, gas hobs, electric oven, large fridge freezer and microwave. Laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Comfortable chairs are grouped around the wood burning fireplace in the sitting area making a cosy and warm atmosphere for any evenings in.

Outside is an enclosed garden with a beautiful wooden mini chalet for children to play in.

The chalet is situated on a quiet village road and has a driveway with space for two cars.

The chalet is conveniently located between 4 ski lifts:

Morzine (Pleney) 5 minutes drive;

Avoriaz (Ardent) 10 minutes drive;

Les Gets 15 minutes drive;

Saint Jean D’Aulps Station 5 minutes drive.

A car is essential and can be easily hired from the airport. When you would rather leave your car at the chalet, a taxi service is available from Morzine. A local bus stops at the bottom of the village several times a day.

About James Norris

I've been coming to Morzine for my holidays for 25 years, first as a teenager with my parents and sister and now with my own young family. We come back as often as we can to Chalet Jordan and let out the weeks for the rest of the year. I organise bookings from the UK while my parents manage the property and welcome guests in Morzine.

Why James Norris chose Saint-Jean-d'Aulps

Chalet Jordan is located in the middle of the pretty and quiet hamlet of Essert La Pierre, a traditional French community with glorious views over the Vallée d’Aulps. The chalet’s location is very convenient as it sits midway between Morzine and Saint Jean D’Aulps. The village is South facing, and so gets the best of the sun during the day. There is a large supermarket (Carrefour) 2 minutes away.

What makes this chalet unique

It is a very peaceful location, ideal for those who really want to enjoy fresh mountain air & have complete peace at night. The hamlet sits up high on the north side of the valley which means we enjoy the sun all day long as well as fantastic views. It takes 5 minutes to drive into Morzine & 2 minutes to the supermarket. It is a 10 minute drive to Ardent bubble which is a very fast and easy access point to Lindaret bowl and Avoriaz, parking is free.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The chalet is in a beautiful, quiet village, with fantastic views. Access to Morzine and other places was really easy. We had a great holiday there.

Beautiful summer retreat

  • 5 of 5

A very comfortable chalet with plenty of space in the heart of a quiet village. Lovely views from the roofed terrace means outside space protected from the elements, while the main living space is a warm retreat later in the evening. It's a well-appointed chalet too, and it's a short and easy drive or even cycle not just from Morzine, but elsewhere in the valley too, with excellent mountain walks available straight from the chalet. From the bottom of the quiet road to the village, there's even a pleasant river stroll into Morzine. Highly recommended for a family or a group of friends.

A wonderful chalet in beautiful surroundings, well presented, comfortably appointed, cosy feel.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Chalet Jordan over Christmas - a party of 8 1/2 family members with 4 1/2 more living nearby and joining us for most of the time. The chalet layout coped admirably with 12 adults, with the games room being an invaluable additional space. For those of us staying there, the bedrooms were perfectly configured with bathrooms up and down. The surrounding countryside is of course spectacular and the Chalet location was ideal. We had a fire every night (although it wasn't that cold! ) which created a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you for welcoming us personally on our arrival and for providing the goodie basket and the Christmas tree and decorations which really got us into the festive spirit. Sadly we never got to use the Sauna but the children loved the playhouse. The running mountain water trough is ideal for keeping all the wine & beer cold! All in all we were very comfortable and found the chalet to be clean, well equipped and everything worked. We hope to come again if we can muster the numbers!

Best regards, Ian & Sherrie Spurrier and family, Crowthorne, Berkshire, UK.

Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

Chalet Jordan stands in a beautiful French village, just a few km from Morzine. Access to the slopes is very easy, with the lifts at Ardent a short drive away going directly to Avoriaz and the Portes du Soleil. You will, however, need a car to get around.

We've spent may happy holidays here and we've already booked to come again next winter.

The chalet is large and spacious, with plenty of space for our family including young kids. All the rooms are nicely furnished and there is a fully equipped kitchen and proper dining table.

Entertainment wise, there was plenty to keep everyone busy: satellite TV, table tennis, table football (a recent addition, I believe), kids chalet in the garden and a sauna!

Owner's Response: Hi John, Thanks for your kind remarks. We look forward to seeing you again next year. As you say a car is essential for a stay in Chalet Jordan. Our regular clients often see this as an advantage. It gives them the flexibility to try different ski access points, all within five minutes drive.

An authentic Alpine getaway in the mountains

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Chalet Jordan towards the end of the winter season, a great time to travel with young children as it's sunnier and the days less cold.

I couldn't recommend it more. As far as I'm concerned, as long as you have a car, its location couldn't be better. It's in the middle of an old traditional Alpine village, which has more charm than staying in the resort, plus there are lots of great walks on your doorstep. There is the biggest supermarket a five minute drive away and the skiing at Avoriaz is easy to get to thanks to the super car-park and fast lift at Ardent (perhaps Morzine's best kept secret in terms of lifts)

The chalet was great for kids. Huge bedrooms and a lovely garden with their own 'Alpage' to play in meant they couldn't be happier. For grownups, there were games, a sauna and English TV. The chalet came with all the kitchen items you could need.

We found it clean and nicely decorated in a traditional Alpine style.

All in all, a great stay. We'll be coming back and couldn't recommend it more...

Fantastic summer break in a beautiful chalet

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my family of four in August 2011 for a two week stay. The chalet was immaculate on arrival and there is lots of space in all the bedrooms and in the open plan living area. We travelled with our two children under 3 and the chalet is really great for children as there is a contained garden with a play chalet in it and for older children there is a table tennis and table football room. The village in which the chalet is situated is traditional, tranquil and within very easy reach of Morzine. Highly recommended.

Large and comfortable chalet

  • 5 of 5

Chalet Jordan is large and extremely comfortable being within easy reach of any of the main lift areas on the Portes Du Soleil and supported by a great local Champion supermarket (much cheaper than the Shoppi in Morzine). Those considering this chalet should not be put off by the driving (it is easy) or the location.
