Villa Alexandra is located in the picturesque village of Asteri within the largest olive grove of the Mediterranean, 15 km to the east of the city of Rethymno. The villa was built around 1955 and it was originally a ground floor house to which later another floor has been added. It has been lovingly renovated with respect to the traditional architecture of the village and the use of natural materials like stone and wood, and the result is a modern house offering all the comforts and amenities a visitor can wish for including air conditioning, central heating and Wifi.
Upon entering the house we come to a large space on the ground floor where there is the living room with SAT TV, DVD and CD player, a fireplace, the dining room and the kitchen, functional and well equipped with all the necessary facilities. There are also two bedrooms and two large bathrooms.
Access to the first floor is through an interior iron staircase with wooden steps. On the first floor we have two bedrooms with their own en-suite bathrooms. One of them faces the east and the other the west. On the west side of the first floor there is a large veranda with a panoramic view over the village and to the sea.
The outside area of the villa is properly designed so that it can offer the residents of the house complete isolation and peace for carefree holidays. The swimming pool is on the west side of the house, exposed to the sun throughout the day.
Moreover, visitors can enjoy the shade of the wooden pergola as well as the rich foliage of a mulberry tree which is next to the swimming pool. There is barbecue area and a traditional wood oven. There is also a table for 6 people under the pergola to enjoy your coffee and meals outside. The size of the swimming pool is 40 square meters (8 x 5). The shallowest part is 0.95 m. and the deepest 1.40. Moreover at the shallow end of the pool there is a special children`s swimming pool whose depth is up to 0.55 m.
Finally, around the villa there are a lot of trees (cypress trees orange trees) along with various bushes that offer the visitor a special picture.
The little village of Asteri is situated in the heart of Crete, in one of the most beautiful picturesque places and in one of the largest olive groves in the Mediterranean, only 14km from the city of Rethymno. It overlooks the Aegean Sea (only 5 minutes by car) to the north and Psiloritis Mountain to the north east.
Rethymno is Crete’s third city in size. It lies between the cities of Chania and Iraklion. The Venetian and the Turkish occupation of the island had a major influence on the architectural style of the town. Wandering through the narrow, picturesque streets of the old town the visitors admire the Venetian mansions with interior courtyards and beautiful home entrances, the wooden Ottoman balconies, the minarets and smell flowers or homemade fresh food. The best place to see the old town is the Fortress of Fortezza which is located at the highest point of the city waiting to protect the local residents from the pirates just like the old days.
The location of the villas is ideal for those who want to explore Crete. The access to the main tourist attractions is easy and fast.
