Enjoy a house in the legendary district of Albaicin (declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO) origin of the city of Granada, located in the prime area of Granada offers easy access to the Alhambra and other sites of interest.
From the house at the morning you can go walking through the picturesque streets of the Albaicín and go to breakfast in a cafe of Plaza Larga, after breakfast you can go to Mirador de San Nicolas and enjoy a privileged view of the Alhambra and the mountains of Sierra Nevada. At lunch time you can go for 'tapas' at bars nearby (with your drink you get a free tapa in Granada) or you can go to a popular restaurant or a more selected about Mirador de San Nicolas.
From the Albaicin just in the midle of Cuesta del Chapiz street you'll find the access to the great gypsy neighborhood of Sacromonte, already pretty along the day you'll find particularly fascinating during night (especially weekends), in addition of its spectacular views it has a lively nightlife with flamenco shows performed in caves, in fact this area is famous for its cave-houses.
Going to the base of the Cuesta del Chapiz, and at the back of Albaicin, you will see a bridge. Across it are two streets, one leading strait and another to the left. The first option leads to the Alhambra. Though the “principal” andeasiest option is from Plaza Nueva Square, this path takes you through a winding route without asphalt that retraces 500 years of history and is highly recommended. If, on the contrary, you take the path to the left you will find a path that leads along the slope of the mountain upon which sits the Alhambra. From here you can enjoy unique views of the Albaicin and Sacromonte, and at the end of the route you will find a fountain where it is possible to relax and refresh.
If you want to visit the modern city center you can go walking (about 15-20 minutes) or you can take a bus (running every 10 minutes). In the area of Plaza Nueva (25 minutes walk) you will find a lively nightlife and in Navas Street (near City Hall) a good place for tapas.
All of these activities can be comfortably made on foot as the Siesta's house awaits you. If you also have transportation or take a bus, we can recommend other activities between half an hour and an hour distance from Granada:
Skiing and snowboarding can be foundwithin 50-60 minutes by car. The Sierra Nevada is a popular tourist destination, as its high peaks make skiing possible in one of Europe's most southerly ski resorts in an area along the Mediterranean Sea predominantly known for its warm temperatures and abundant sunshine.
Rural tourism, trekking, and other outdoor activities are also only a 60 minutes car ride away. We recommend a singular and special area: Las Alpujarras. The Alpujarra is a natural and historical region in Andalucia, Spain, between the Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean. It extends over two provinces, Granada and Almería, and is often referred to in the plural as 'Las Alpujarras'. There are several interpretations of this Arabic name: the most convincing is that it derives from al-bugsharra, meaning something like 'sierra of pastures'. Although it would take more time you can’t miss out on Capileira or Pampaneira.
If you are more in the mood for the beach than the mountains Salobreña, apicturesque village with network of cobbled narrow streets on the Andalusian coast, is only a 45-60 minute drive depending on traffic. We recommended lunch or dinner overlooking the sea in any of a number of restaurants. If from here you take the coastal road in the direction of Malagayou will find other spectacular villages such as Nerja.
If you're traveling with your family I recommend you the Science Park of Granada, with a lot of exhibitions regarding science and nature topics, the children will have a great time (an also is very interesting for adults).
Check-in after 12 (if other guest is checking-out). Check out before 12 (if other guest is checking-in). In general terms I'm flexible.
The clean apartment is well located on a narrow, quiet street. It is on 3 floors: at the entrance is a dark bedroom (because the street is so narrow) and a tiny, miniscule bathroom with a sloped ceiling and no window. One flight up is the floor for living, with the pleasant open kitchen, dining and living area and main bedroom (not so quiet at night), with plently of windows. The building across the street is so close that privacy is impossible unless windows are closed and curtains drawn, a characteristic of the neighborhood. A second flight up is a small bedroom - private and quiet at night because almost windowless - with a sloped ceiling (one of the 2 occupants better not be tall!) and a/c, the main bathroom with a sloped ceiling and a small terrace. The 2 rooms on this top floor were possibly converted from an attic; the ceilings are so sloped that the windows are at the floor level. The common areas on the central floor are comfortable and pleasant, the pantry items and supplies were refreshed.. The occupants of the main bedroom have to go a flight up or down to use a bathroom which is terribly inconvenient particularly at night. If occupants are tall or prefer not to be going up and down flights of steps this is not the place for you. The garage where a parking space is available for an extra fee is easily accessible entering the city and is about 100 mt from the house.
This is a great little house in a lovely location near really good bars and restaurants, with stupendous views of the Alhambra. Owners were great with good communication. Car parking was a very useful bonus.
Easy to get a bus or cheap taxi to nearby locations, but if you are fit everything is walkable (hills).
This is proper Spain and a cultural joy.
We had a wonderful stay in Granada! Samar was a very helpful and gracious host! She went above and beyond helping us to acclimate to the city - giving us directions, places to visit, where to shop, eat, etc. The house was clean, accessible, convenient and well decorated. Our family of 5 felt very comfortable with plenty of space. Thank you Samar for a lovely vacation!
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in Granada. Samar was fantastic and a wealth of information on the area. We loved having the dedicated parking spot. The place is large and affords a lot of privacy for everyone staying in the house. Each of the 3 bedrooms is on a separate floor and there's a very large kitchen and decent sized living area. The only downside is that only one of the three bedrooms is air conditioned. The weather was in the mid-90's during our visit and it was hot in the un-air conditioned bedrooms. The location is great.
Samar is is a great host and gave us plenty of suggestions on where to eat and what to see in Granada.
We, a family of four persons (2 adults, 2 kids 10+13), spent our Easter break 2015 in Granada. We had the pleasure to enjoy Semana Santa in Granada and also a few days after Easter. The apartment with three bed rooms and a central kitchen / living room area is well suited for families and good home base for excursions into the Albayzin (old town) or the center of Granada (new town).
We loved the fact that you can stay in a central place right in the Albaycin but still be a little bit off the beaten tracks and the tourist masses. An excellent restaurant is just 100 m away, also all necessary shops (bakery, supermarket, café, daily market with fresh fruits) in less than 5 minutes walking distance. You really need no car for your time in Granada even so the place comes along with a garage. Samar was very friendly, helpful and a good guide to the town.
We loved it. 5 stars.
