La Dimora is just 100m from the centre of Sant’Agata sui due Golfi, a beautiful resort 9km from Sorrento. High on a hill above the sea, the town offers wonderful views over the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno towards the island of Capri.
La Dimora is in an elegant building built at the end of the seventeenth century. Now completely renovated to the highest standards, the property offers a wonderful home-from-home for up to four people.
Access to La Dimora is along a private road of about 50m. There is space to park up to two cars. You enter through the ancient original door of the house, giving access to an inner courtyard measuring 55m2. This is a lovely place to relax in the sunshine or by the soft light of candles in the evening, with white painted walls and bright flowers in containers. There is a table for four, a parasol and comfortable chairs in which to read a book whilst sipping an espresso or a glass of local wine. There is also a barbeque for al fresco dining.
Beyond the courtyard there is a gorgeous garden measuring 3000m2 and shared with the owners, a family living upstairs. Alive with greenery and flowers, the garden is a wonderful place in which to find a quiet corner to relax, or simply for a stroll.
The property itself is full of character with interesting nooks and crannies. There is a kitchen furnished in typical local style, with beautiful patterned tiles. You will find all essentials including a four burner gas hob, oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. There is also a washing machine, ironing board and iron. Next to the kitchen is a dining area with a table for four. There is internet Wifi throughout the apartment.
Ideal for two couples, or a family with two children, La Dimora offers a double bedroom, and twin beds that can be joined together as a double if requested. The two bedrooms are tastefully decorated and equipped with a television. Each is air conditioned and has an en suite bathroom with shower enclosure, wash basin, toilet, bidet and hairdryer.
There is much to enjoy within Sant'Agata sui due Golfi, including great shops and restaurants, the parish church, the Monastery of Deserto and various archaeological ruins. If you enjoy walking, there are many trails along the coast and inland. The town is also a great centre for many excursions on the Sorrento Peninsula and beyond.
We spent a very nice week in La Dimora at the beginning of June 2016 staying in the ground floor apartments and we really enjoyed our stay. Parts of the building are 16th century and the conversation into two apartments have been done very sympathetically. We had exclusive use of the small garden which although a short walk from the apartment was a good place to relax and when the weather permitted enjoy our meals. Everything was well looked after and lots of things looked new including a washing machine which after driving from the UK came in very useful. It was really good staying somewhere that was close to town so we didn’t have to use our car all the time. There’s a very good tourist office next to the church but the town isn’t at all touristy, green grocers and bread shops and restaurants and if you tire of driving there are buses to Sorrento (which is very touristy). The owners were very friendly and busy finishing the swimming pool which when completed will make this an even better place to stay. The property is close to the Feelings Italy office so close at hand to help with any problems.
We absolutely loved our stay here. From the moment we arrived,, we were made to feel very welcome, the owner greeting us and as a lovely gesture, a home baked cake was waiting for us in the kitchen! The property itself was immaculate, exactly as described, if not better! Every attention to detail has been made, inside and extended outside to the private courtyard! The owners were so discreet, they were there if we needed them, but otherwise, completely private. Small gifts of home-made wine etc were left for us on returning from trips, which we found so welcoming and kind We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return very soon. Plenty to do and see within the immediate area, but we had a hire car and would recommend doing so..
