In you go, all, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 of you. Yes 10. Phew, just as well this apartment is big. It’s homely feeling too, so you can all feel comfortable and relaxed. And with two floors and a private garden you’ll still feel that you have space. It’s a fairly suburban area but the U-Bahn is just down the road, so nothing is very far away.
Moabit is a central neighbourhood to the north of Tiergarten. And it is an island too with the Spree and a series of canals surrounding it. But you won’t be cut off from the rest of the city because there’s 25 bridges you can cross – into Charlotteburg, Tiergarten, and central Mitte.
Berlin's main Hauptbahnhof train station is here, along with various riverside bars and nightspots. Other places of interest include the 19th century Gründerzeit buildings around Stephanstrasse and the Kulturfabrik centre with regular concerts and films.
The location is very good - quiet but not too far from the city centre.
We were also impressed by the comfort and the helpfulness of the apartment manager.
Very satisfied with our stay! good place not too fare from everything and very easy to get to from the airport (TXL) The manager (Olivier) was very friendly.
We found it a very good location for walking into the centre of Berlin or catching the U-Bahn in wet weather. Our contact was very helpful with organising transport back to Tegel and giving us some good tips about the locality, supermarkets etc. The apartment was very clean, well kept and warm - good showers and all facilities. Quite quiet and with enough space for our 7 party members. Would definitely use again.
Loved Berlin and loved the house. One thing to note is there is a Hostel in building adjacent to the property, so there we often traveling youth in the courtyard and some late night noise.
We had lot's of room, plenty of towels, dishes, a washer, dish washer and two toilets and shows. More than enough for 6 people! I would recommend to the owners to make a small map of the area with places marked - U-bahn, super market, smaller markets, Taxi stand.... Also, make a sheet of directions explaining washer, dish washer, TV. It's hard to remember all of the instructions when told on the first day - especially for people who don't speak german - the equipment is quite different than our american equivalents. This property is not good for more than 2 people with any disabilities.
The apartment was great. I was a little disappointed that the neighborhood didn't offer more for wondering in and out of shops, but if that's not what you're looking for, it's great.
I would recommend that the owner print something up with directions for the dish washer, the TV and the washer. He explained everything very well, but when I went to use them, I had forgotten some of the details. Also, a map of the immediate area with markets and such marked on it would be really helpful.
